1983 Regular season thread

Who will be the winners of the re-invented Republic Shield or Continental Cup, awarded to the second place teams in each league now that they also get a ticket to the playoffs?

Will we see a playoff upset in the first year of the new expanded playoffs?

Can Napa Valley repeat? Can Hartford keep winning the RL?

Who will be the suprise team this year that comes from nowhere to compete?

Exports are due at 10pm ET as normal, but the season may start up a hair late tonight. I am driving into Boston to meet up with some FOFCers in town. I expect to be back by 10pm, but might run a bit late depending on how drunk my wife gets and if I have to bail her out of jail.

Priorities man...you can bail her out while uploading...

Can any team run by Chief be called a surprise team? As much as I jest about him finnishing 4th, if he doesn't claim at least a wildcard sport this season I will be stunned. But do to his poor results the last 2 seasons, I'll choose Atlanta as the surprise team

Napa and Atlanta, Hartford and *flips a coin* Columbus will be in the playoffs.

Oh, and just because things have been too tame in here lately, allow me to stir the pot and say that we have 5 teams in the CL that would finnish 2nd if they were in the RL. So we still wont have the 4 best teams in the playoffs...

+1

I would be curious to see the records if we did interleague play since the CL has a history of being the better league. Maybe a fun sim using the same rosters but the CL plays only RL teams and the RL only CL teams this year, kind of like what happend about 15 seasons ago, but this time just for fun?

In my FOOL home kit solo dynasty, I actually have the teams playing interleague totally. It's two leagues of 10 teams each, with the top four teams in each league going to the playoff and the schedule is setup where each of the teams in the league play each other 8 times a year. That'd be the ultimate bragging rights.

It's dated 1971, but what I did was sim about 20 years into it, I changed some of the team names in some cases and of course, expanded and so, it's different.

The FOOLHome Kit Quickstart - Front Office Football Central

That has instructions on how to download it directly from in-game.

I just noticed that Alan has drinkin plans in Boston. I'll have to find out where he goes that he can be fearful of his wife getting plastered and isn't simultaneously worried about bankruptcy. My friends and I are about ready to start buying a 12 pack and some coozies and sitting in city hall plaza.

Personally, to be honest, I'll be disappointed if he shows at all.

I am guessing it will be another walk in the RL for Hartford, but now, since 2nd matters, it will be pretty interesting to see what happens there. I think Long Island has a really good shot this year, with Boston right behind. If the AI doesn't screw it up, Columbus should be in the mix, too. Ramz leaving probably means SD doesn't make a run. I'm not sure if allpro's Ann Arbor has what it takes to get in the mix yet, and Colorado and Chicago are in well-advertised rebuilds.

In the CL, pitching wins, and Teach still has the most of it, at least in her rotation (where it counts). She is the favorite, but it's going to be a tough call. Atlanta should be in the mix, and Toronto and Baltimore are strong and always dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the four make it to the top, or to second. Brooklyn, as usual, has a lot of talent, so it will be interesting to see if Commo's strategy changes elevate into the upper division. New York is in a rebuild, and Cringer, I think, is still trying to recover from his lost pitching two years ago. Wyoming actually still has talent, but its AI run, so I don't expect them to be in the mix.

I am guessing Hartford anf Long Island in the RL, and Napa Valley and Toronto in the CL.

No, I actually did not have anything to drink. It is roughly an hour drive to Boston and an hour back from where I live. The weather is bad, there is alot of road construction and it is late (I get up at 5-6am most mornings).. so my wife had a margarita, but I just had one soda.

Too bad you couldn't have more "fun" there, although it's understandable, given the circumstances. Hope the get-together went well.

Nice. Of course, that's with three AI teams, right? Columbus, Wyoming and San Diego? Hopefully we can get those spots filled at some point (and in particular, hope Turner is okay).

Actually, Ramz is still running SD until we get a replacement right? If so, at least we have that covered.

No, Ramzavail is still doing exports for San Diego. He is staying with the team until we can find a replacement for it. He's had an export in most every day this week

Ok, looks like we are ready to start the season off.

The year starts off with Rio Grande traveling to Toronto. M. Lopez for Toronto pitches the first pitch of the season! Good luck to all!

Just a reminder, 25 players is the roster limit on any level above Rookie ball. Anyone over and I have to move players off using my own judgement.

Ha, it was a small change, and not so obvious. It happens a lot in WW threads, so I am used to it.
