In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .337 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs. Tooze also scored 8 times and drove in 17 runs.

In 2022 Tooze has put up a .271 batting average with 98 hits, 3 home runs and 51 RBIs.

So that was worth it.

A career milestone for a Ranchero:

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022: Maskery Reaches 2000 Milestone
Lenny Maskery started out as a baby-faced rookie many seasons ago. Yesterday at Ballpark of Colorado the Colorado veteran joined the league's 2000-hit club. Maskery achieved that milestone with a 2-for-4 day in the Rancheros 5-4 win over the Hammersmith Hooligans.

He spoke to reporters in the clubhouse after the game and said, "Looking at the list of all the great players who have done this is humbling. It is a great honor to be among them."

Maskery has 2001 career hits with a .281 batting average and 217 home runs.

The 41st player in FOOL history with 2500 hits:

Friday, August 19th, 2022: Hit #2500 for Heroes Carroll
What a day for Lawrence Carroll. The 33-year-old New York shortstop reached the 2500-hit mark today and the Heroes whipped the Hartford Harpooners 10-5.

Carroll told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2500, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 2 for 5 in the game to reach the milestone.

Carroll boasts a career batting average of .316 with 2501 hits, 14 homers and 763 RBIs.

The first real hitting streak of note this season:

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022: Zero Hits for Hughes, Edmonton Halts Hit Streak
The hitting streak that Montreal second baseman Joe Hughes had going was ended today by the Edmonton Edge. Hughes, who had hits in his previous 22 games, was stymied today, but the rest of his team picked him up, earning the Majestics a 5-4 victory at Majestics Stadium. He was hitless in 3 at-bats.

"Hitting streaks come and go. One good thing came out of it, however, it perked up my batting average a little bit, but did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with the streak always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."

To date this year Hughes is batting .341 with 13 home runs.

Lockyer gets #300!

Friday, August 26th, 2022: Lockyer Makes 300 HR Mark
It was a historic day for Colorado's fine left fielder Colin Lockyer. He slammed home run number 300 in the Rancheros 14-11 loss to the New York Heroes at Ballpark of Colorado.

He told reporters after the game, that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."

In his milestone-making game Lockyer went 4 for 4, scored 4 runs and collected 4 RBI. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.

During his career Lockyer has hit .302 with 2199 hits, 300 home runs, 1151 RBIs and scored 1257 runs.

I would say this experiment is a success:

Thursday, September 1st, 2022: Majestics Lange Named CL's Best Pitcher
The spotlight today is on John Lange of the Montreal Majestics. The relief ace was chosen as the #1 pitcher in the Continental League for August.

He compiled a 6-0 record and an ERA of 3.43 in 44.2 innings with 33 strikeouts. Lange nailed down no saves in no save opportunities.

Lange has nailed down no saves for the year. He has also totaled 130 strikeouts and 42 walks in 204.2 innings while registering a 3.78 ERA and a 20-7 won-lost record.

The Republic League has made it official -- José Colón is the winner of the Batter of the Month trophy.

In August, the Hartford right fielder starred with a .355 batting average, 5 home runs and 23 RBIs. Colón also had 17 walks, posted a .437 on-base percentage and scored 22 times.

In his 2022 season totals, Colón has 31 home runs, .365 BA, .462 OBP, 109 RBIs and 104 runs scored.

CL Hitter of the month for August:

Thursday, September 1st, 2022: Torrid August Gets Hughes CL #1 Batter Trophy
A hot-hitting Joe Hughes punished CL pitchers in August, hitting .380 in 28 games while racking up 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

With those numbers it came as no surprise that Montreal's 28-year-old second baseman earned Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

This season Hughes is swinging the bat at a .338 rate with 189 hits in 559 at-bats. To date he has hit 15 home runs, scored 103 runs and driven in 59.

Rodriguez seems to be the leading candidate for the RL Benny Myers award:

Thursday, September 1st, 2022: Newcomer of the Month Picked
The top-rated Republic League rookie in August was Hammersmith's catcher Miguel Rodríguez.

Last month he played in 26 games and hit .296 with 7 doubles, no triples, and 2 home runs. Rodríguez also scored 14 times and drove in 12 runs.

Currently Rodríguez is batting .287 with 150 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 73 runs and scored 60 times.

and likewise for Whittingham:

Thursday, September 1st, 2022: Whittingham Voted August's Rookie Trophy
In the month of August Oliver Whittingham hit the ball hard, often and with authority and was honored as the Continental League Rookie of the Month.

He did it in standout fashion as the Baltimore's third baseman hit .343 with 4 home runs and 15 RBIs while scoring 18 runs.

This year Whittingham is batting .302 with 155 hits, 14 home runs, 79 RBIs, 28 walks, .358 OBP and has scored 70 runs.

He's only making it about 5 innings a start on average. He only has 16 quality starts for the entire season. (46% which is really bad).

The reason it is working is Montreal has a 3.24 ERA for their bullpen (tops in FOOL), and the second highest scoring offense in the CL.

I think it will be 35ish at the end of the season. I've used this in other leagues with good results, but it's got to be a pitcher with fairly dominant stuff and you better have a solid bullpen.

Sunday, September 25th, 2022: Reyes Extends Hit Streak to 31 Games
Long hitting streaks don't happen very often and when they happen it perks up everybody's interest. No one knows how long it will go -- it could end tomorrow - but baseball fans and Orlando Reyes are enjoying the moment right now. The 28-year-old Chico shortstop extended his string to 31 consecutive games in Rebels Ballpark today. Reyes got 1 hit, but the Hartford Harpooners got the victory. They toppled the Rebels 8-2.
O. Reyes was hit by a pitch in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and flied out in the 7th.

In 162 games this year Reyes has posted a .308 average and put up these numbers: 16 home runs, 68 RBIs and 109 runs scored.

Please let him retire in the offseason.

Im sure its either that or his butt is going to get cut. Actually might make more sense to cut him now. Ill have to look at my financials first. What a bad FA choice that was. Def cost me a real shot at the playoffs.

Monday, September 26th, 2022: Majestics Star Pitcher Wins Triple Crown
Emmett Quero of Montreal has done what few pitchers in Front Office Offseason League have been able to do. He's won the Triple Crown, leading the league in all three major categories: wins, ERA and strikeouts. The Majestics star finished 2022 with a 23-7 mark to pace the Continental League in wins. He also posted a league best 2.32 ERA and topped the league with 321 strikeouts. A season good enough to put him as a strong favorite to take the CL Gabriel Prado Award.

"His level of consistency is amazing," said the Majestics manager. "Emmett goes out there every time he gets the ball and keeps you in the game. You know that when he's on the mound, you have an excellent chance at winning the game."

Quero is a low key kind of guy. He is very proud of his wins, but not really excited about his unique accomplishment this season. He admitted to the press, "Maybe, just maybe, I'll look back on this Triple Crown when I retire and smile. But for now my stats are for my kids to brag about and for the media-types who love talking about numbers."
