Friday, June 29th, 2029: 2000 Hits for Keyte
The Tokyo contest with Boston featured a real shining moment: Ben Keyte, the Cyclones left fielder, collected career base hit #2000. That his team lost the game, 4-2, took away only a little bit of the luster. Fittingly, the 35-year-old Keyte, who went 2-for-4, received a warm ovation from the Sony Park crowd.

Keyte has played in 1823 games with a .293 career batting average and 2001 hits. He also has scored 992 runs and driven in 1370 runs with 348 home runs.

This is pretty much what I expected after failing to land some big fish in free agency. Hopefully someone halfway decent falls on the market next season.

You are 3 games out of a playoff spot in July. I'm not sure I would give up just yet!

For J.D. Blackmore, it was a red-letter day. The Hammersmith Hooligans left fielder slapped his 2500th career hit. That his team defeated the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines, 9-8, made it even sweeter.

The 38-year-old Blackmore finished the day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats.

Blackmore is hitting .297 during his 2345-game career. He has 2500 hits, 563 doubles, 87 triples, 366 home runs, 1552 RBIs, 270 stolen bases and 1572 runs scored.

Its about freaking time he steps up and is the #1 we need. Nice season so far. With that 5-0 in the month, we might have pulled closer. Or gone 5-19.

I'm not sure what the most amazing thing about the August 1st league standings report is, but I'm leaning towards the Pythagorean Record difference for the RL. Almost every team is exactly even with their actual record, which is kind of crazy.
