Sunday, August 4th, 2030: Castaneda Pounds 3 HR
Alejandro Castaneda ripped three home runs today against Chico Rebels. It was a terrific day for him, but a bad day at the ballpark for the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines, who dropped a 15-12 decision. For the day he collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 4 runs and had 7 RBIs.

In the postgame press conference he told the reporters, "I got some good pitches to hit and turned on them real good. I always have liked to hit here at Ann Arbor Grounds."

"He was instant offense today," the Ann Arbor skipper said. "Alejandro really put on a show. He more than did his part. We just didn't come through with hits at the right time to win the game."

A. Castaneda singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Y. Kiyomizu in the 2nd, struck out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Y. Kobayashi in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off J. Luna in the 9th.

This season Castaneda is swinging the bat at a .248 pace. He has hit 19 home runs and scored 51 times, while driving in 70. His on-base percentage is .340 and he has played in 102 games.

I do it alot in spring training. Otherwise haven't ever seen the point in it since 5 man is enough rest between starts for starting pitchers to be completely rested.

Yes, so in back to back starts, Sierra struck out 25 and allowed only 11 hits. That is pretty good.

Blackmore is the 17th member of FOOL's 400 HR club!

Wednesday, August 28th, 2030: Blackmore Slams Milestone Homer
Hammersmith's 8-2 victory over New York was highlighted by J.D. Blackmore's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," Blackmore said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 4 at-bats the Hooligans right fielder collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 3 runs, and had 2 runs batted in.

In 2551 career games, Blackmore has put up a .296 average, collected 610 doubles, 92 triples, and 400 home runs, driven in 1686 runs and scored 1726 times.

And the Juan Sierra month continues... He becomes only the 8th pitcher in FOOL history to win 300+ games!

Thursday, August 29th, 2030: Sierra Claims 300th Victory
Juan Sierra of the New York Heroes pitched his way into the exclusive 300-win club today at New York Grounds by stopping the Hammersmith Hooligans 4-2. In his historic outing, he surrendered 8 hits and 2 runs in 7.1 innings with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks.

With a huge grin on his face, the 32-year-old Sierra told reporters after the game, "Now I got to get real busy -- and start working on my next 300 wins."

In his career Sierra has 300 victories and 112 defeats and recorded an ERA of 2.55.

9 games left in the season and most of the playoff spots are locked up. The final RL playoff position looks like it is going down to the wire

Edmonton and Napa Valley have both clinched playoff spots.

Edmonton has a magic number of 9 for homefield advantage in the CLCS.

Colorado has won the 2030 Republic League regular season title!

Chico, New York, Hartford and Hammersmith are still alive in the fight for the final playoff spot.

Yay!

You three dogfight it out and get all tired. I need another shot at that title, last year left a real bitter taste in my mouth.
