Saturday, July 1st, 2034: Sanu Voted June's Rookie Trophy
A boyish Tetsuyuki Sanu emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Colorado deserved the honor, batting .340 with 1 home run and 11 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Sanu enjoy the limelight.

Thus far in 2034 Sanu has hit .296 with 2 home runs, 37 RBIs and scored 53 runs.

Saturday, July 1st, 2034: Chasse Snags Rookie of Month Trophy
Whenever Charm left fielder Jeremy Chasse stepped into the batter's box last month, the 26-year-old meant business. With his .282 average he virtually ran away with the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

He collected 29 hits in June with no home runs, 5 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

In his season totals Chasse has 1 home run and a .313 batting average.

Based on Edmonton's score in one run games and extra innings combined with their Pythagorean Record, has anyone figured out what their problem is yet this season?

I gave a hint earlier

A second hint.. no team is that unlucky for that long

That is putting it mildly. Their pen is the stuff of epic nightmares.

As of August 1st, Edmonton has scored more runs than any other team in the CL. Their starting pitchers have the best ERA of any team in the CL. The Edmonton pitching staff is 2nd in least runs allowed in the CL.

With that in consideration, they should be 1st in the Continental League right?

Their bullpen is a combined 5-17. Their closer has 21 saves and 7 blown saves for a save % of only 75%.. When ekcut sees this performance he likely is going to destroy that bullpen coach.

Well here is a fun one... Frank Dawson is only the second player ever to get 7 hits in a game. The other player was former Colorado Ranchero and Atlanta Firecracker Shortstop Sam Dawson who went 7 for 7 for Atlanta back in 1993!

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2034: Dawson Belts 7 Hits
7 hits in 7 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Frank Dawson of the Chico Rebels had a sensational 7-7 game against Hammersmith at Rebels Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 14-6 shellacking of the Hooligans.

In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off... Right, skipper?"

F. Dawson doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off S. Krantz in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off K. Ying in the 9th.

Dawson is presently hitting at a .362 pace with 31 home runs and 115 RBIs. He has played in 112 games and scored 96 times.

Salinas is the 19th member of the FOOL 400 Homer club!

Sunday, August 6th, 2034: Winged Lingerines Salinas Hits 400th Homer
The Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines defeated the Colorado Rancheros 8-7 yesterday in a game that featured Francisco Salinas's 400th career home run.

In the clubhouse, the Winged Lingerines second baseman spoke about the milestone achievement. "To be honest, I don't even remember my first home run," he said. "But this one I don't think I'll forget. Who knows if I'll hit another hundred, or fifty, or even ten?"

On his historic day, Salinas banged out 2 hits in 5 at-bats and scored 2 runs with 3 runs batted in.

Salinas has put up a career batting average of .297 with 2110 hits, 400 homers and 1557 RBIs.

Wednesday, August 9th, 2034: Ward Makes 300 HR Mark
The Hartford Harpooners had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 6-5 decision to Colorado. The reason -- the splendid slugger Brennan Ward hit his 300th career homer in today's contest at Harpooners Ballpark.

"I'm fortunate to be here," Ward told the media after the game. "The Harpooners have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #300 was for them."

Lifetime Ward has played in 1560 games, batted .330 with 300 home runs and 2030 base hits.

Tuesday, August 15th, 2034: Geracimos Sparkles in Shutout
In an impressive mound performance, Zephyr Geracimos of the Tokyo Cyclones checked the Apex Assassins on a 2-hitter and held them scoreless.

"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said the Apex manager. "Geracimos kept us confused the whole game."

The Tokyo hurler rang up 6 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in his 6-0 shutout victory.

To date in 2034, Geracimos sports a 8-13 mark with a 4.79 ERA in 25 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .306 batting average and has 93 strikeouts in 159.2 innings.

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2034: Chelanga Superb Against Hartford
He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Tamrat Chelanga of the Chico Rebels blanked the Hartford Harpooners 4-0.

After tossing a complete-game 1-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Chelanga walked 3 and struck out 6 in the victory.

The Harpooners manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."

Chelanga has made 27 starts this season, posting 10 wins and 11 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .270 against him and he has 136 strikeouts in 169.1 innings with a 4.36 ERA.

Edit note: I accidently posted the wrong news story for Geracimos earlier. Evidently he had two different 2-hit performances this month. i went back and edited that one correctly. Woops!

Thursday, August 31st, 2034: Geracimos Magnificent in Apex Win
Zephyr Geracimos of the Tokyo Cyclones mixed his pitches well and fashioned a 4-0 shutout today. The 28-year-old hurler shut down the Apex offense, holding them to 2 hits. He struck out 5 while walking 1.

This season to date Geracimos has a record of 10 wins and 14 losses with a 4.62 ERA, has appeared in 28 games and struck out 105 in 181.1 innings.

Friday, September 1st, 2034: Ann Arbor Starter August's Best Pitcher
Joe Durham took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors in August. After all these years playing ball, the 37-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 5-1 for Ann Arbor last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 3.20 ERA in his 7 starts, tossing 50.2 innings and striking out 29.

This season to date, Durham has fashioned a 13-11 mark and 5.20 ERA in 220 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .311 against him and he has logged 150 strikeouts.

The 28-year-old Sánchez added 55 strikeouts in 52.2 innings and 22 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.20 ERA. Other clubs hit .190 against him.

player photos generally update after the season.. so people who swap teams sometimes end up with their old photos. Blame the marketing budget!

Friday, September 1st, 2034: Big Month for RL Rookie
Tetsuyuki Sanu earned August's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Colorado shortstop might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Sanu hit .376 with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 23 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Sanu is hitting .320 in 2034 with 70 RBIs and 5 home runs.

Friday, September 1st, 2034: Chasse Wins Newcomer of the Month
The Continental League Rookie of the Month Award for August goes to Jeremy Chasse, the left fielder for Baltimore. He took the league by storm, hitting .291 and looks like he might just be a legitimate contender for the Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

Chasse tagged 34 hits in 117 at-bats, including no home runs, produced 5 RBIs and scored 20 times.

Currently Chasse is batting .312 with 2 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Thats pretty cool.

I've got it, its his grandson!
