Edmonton's 25-9 in one run games is even more impressive when considering they have the worst bullpen in the Continental League. At first glance, I can't find much else other than them being really lucky.. but whatever they are doing seems to be working for them!

Thursday, September 6th, 2040: Boston Befuddled by Hernández
After his 11-0 shutout win against the Settlers, Oliver Hernández said, "I went out there to try and eat up innings and help out our bullpen. I felt I had my good stuff... and it turned out my command was solid and my breaking balls were good."

They were better than good as the Charm pitcher put up 11 strikeouts, surrendered 3 walks, allowed 4 hits and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.

His record this year is 8-12 in 33 starts and Hernández has a 4.26 ERA.

Figures, we're turning mediocre pitchers into superstars.

Actually, Geracimos isn't too bad, now that I check him out, but he isn't having the best of years either.

This is where I start my run, and then end up in third, missing out on the playoffs again and earning a crappy draft pick.

I'm pretty excited about the roughly .500 record this late in the season, despite the crappy draft pick it will asure me.

Monday, September 17th, 2040: Ernie Martin Bashes Three over the Wall
It was a good day for Colorado and an exceptional day for Ernie Martin. The 26-year-old third baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Rancheros beat the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines 5-3 at Ballpark of Colorado.

Following the game, he was asked about his performance. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Martin commented, "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."

For the day he scored 3 times, drove in 4 runs and smacked 3 hits in 4 at-bats.

E. Martin hit a two-run home run off R. Wichers in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off R. Wichers in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Phelps in the 8th.

In his season totals, Martin has 23 home runs, .261 BA, .314 OBP, 70 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has played in 121 games.

Wednesday, September 19th, 2040: Patriots Whitewash Heroes, Klassen Winner
Rick Klassen put a hex on New York in a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 5-hit gem.

"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."

It was anything but comfortable for New York.

"Klassen used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."

The Hyannis Patriots hurler fanned 8 and walked 1.

In 2040 Klassen has posted a record of 17 wins and 13 losses with a 3.49 ERA. He has appeared in 35 games and struck out 158 in 239.2 innings.

It was a smooth and solid performance by Guo-dong Ge of the Colorado Rancheros against Hartford today. He crafted a fine 2-hitter in blanking them 1-0 and chalked up 8 strikeouts and 1 walk along the way.

"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Colorado skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."

This year Ge has compiled a 9-15 mark with a 4.92 ERA.

Tuesday, September 25th, 2040: Graves Bashes 6 Base Hits
It was a sensational day at the plate for Andy Graves as he led the charge to a 5-4 win over the Rancheros.

The Chico left fielder was pure misery for the Colorado pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 6 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

The manager for the Rancheros told BNN reporters after the game, "Graves put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

A. Graves singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th.

So far this season Graves is hitting .290 with 15 home runs.

Saturday, September 29th, 2040: Muñóz on Fire: Burns Edmonton with 3 HR
In the Tokyo 10-1 win over Edmonton, José Muñóz was in a home run mode. He tortured the Edge, cracking out three home runs and going 3-5 with 5 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.

"When you're hot, you're hot," said a grinning Muñóz in the postgame press conference.

"I got some good pitches to hit and got a good swing going today. I cannot believe it happened. I was like, 'I don't know what I'm doing.' It was one of the better days in my baseball career. I was on cloud nine out there and I was enjoying it."

J. Muñóz hit a two-run home run off M. Knight in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off R. McDonald in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off L. Rodríguez in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

In 137 games this season Muñóz has batted at a .238 pace with 103 hits and 33 home runs.

Wish I could figure out what I am doing that's putting me where I am. It feels like I have been struggling with getting over this mediocrity hump for more than a decade now.
