I'm pretty interested in how this season goes for the Rancheros. We might surprise people in a good way.

Ok salary cap issues are taken care of. Have a few transaction requests to do and then we'll start things off

Thursday, April 3rd, 2042: Lemieux Sparkles, Blanks Napa Valley
On the hill Renaud Lemieux stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Napa Valley 5-0.

At bat the Winemakers floundered, fizzled and failed to score.

"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Napa Valley manager said. "He kept us off-balance."

The Newark pitcher hurled a 2-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up no walks and had 11 strikeouts.

"I felt good," Lemieux said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."

Sunday, April 6th, 2042: Number 2000 for McCarthy
Bryant McCarthy was bubbling over with joy, celebrating his 2000th hit in the Colorado 12-1 victory over the Patriots at Ballpark of Colorado.

"I learned what hard work, focus, dedication and opportunity can do. This is how it pays off."

The 37-year-old catcher achieved that milestone with 2 hits in 4 at-bats to join the exclusive 2000-hit club.

His manager said, "Bryant plays the same every day and every inning - with all his heart - that's why he's such a special player."

McCarthy has 2001 career hits with a .248 batting average and 199 home runs.

Thursday, April 10th, 2042: Hobbs Zeroes in on Napa Valley
How good was Andy Hobbs today? Just ask the Napa Valley Winemakers, who were blanked 14-0. The Winemakers could muster just 1 hit against the 30-year-old Tokyo hurler. In a fine showing Hobbs had 7 strikeouts and walked 1.

This hitting streak carried over from last season

Friday, April 11th, 2042: Heroes Chill Sánchez's Hot Streak
The New York Heroes pitching did its job today, holding hot-hitting Juan Sánchez hitless in 4 at-bats during a 7-1 victory over the Colorado Rancheros at Ballpark of Colorado. This disappointing performance ended his 20-game hitting streak.

"I'm a little down right now," Sánchez told BNN after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me and I hated to see the streak end, too."

In 2042 Sánchez has put up a .324 batting average with 11 hits, 1 home run and 3 RBIs.

Friday, April 25th, 2042: Keir Holds Napa Valley Scoreless
"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Bob Keir said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."

The Tokyo hurler scored a 6-0 shutout victory over the Winemakers, stopping them on 5 hits. He rung up 10 strikeouts and gave up no walks in today's performance.

This year in 5 starts, Keir has recorded 2 wins and absorbed no losses. He has pitched 35.1 innings, allowed 30 hits, struck out 31 and has a 2.04 ERA.

Thursday, May 1st, 2042: Hammersmith Starter Named RL's #1 Pitcher
Vicente Betancourt's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-1 in April, the 29-year-old Hammersmith hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 52 in 46.1 innings, logged an ERA of 2.33 and allowed opponents to hit .220 against him.

Thursday, May 1st, 2042: Napa Valley's Correa - Chosen April's Best in CL
Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Francisco Correa still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 27-year-old starter for Napa Valley was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 2 losses with 26 strikeouts in his 7 starts, putting up a fine 1.63 ERA in 49.2 innings of work.

He batted .386 with 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

Okamoto is on pace for 66 Home Runs right now, but he doesn't currently even lead the Republic League in homers.

Sad thing was, tonight was scouts and it was a halloween party. Plus, he was getting his first badge. The issues started when we pulled up in the parking lot. He said he wasn't feeling great. We figured it was nerves, he's the nervous type. About 15 minutes into the night, he's up in front getting his Bobcat badge and turning just about as green as his dino costume. We bailed very shortly after that. Poor guy, indeed.

I was going to comment on that and figured he had horrible run support. But when I looked, Napa Valley is scoring 3.63 runs per game for him right now in support. So he must have just gone up against some buzzsaws for two of his starts.

Thursday, May 1st, 2042: Republic League Names Rookie of Month
A boyish Ken Gallagher emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Colorado deserved the honor, batting .323 with 4 home runs and 19 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Gallagher enjoy the limelight.

Thursday, May 1st, 2042: CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
José Ledesma was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old second baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Ledesma batted .336 for Napa Valley, slapping 36 hits in 107 at-bats with 2 home runs, drove in 11 runs and scored 12 times.

Oh no! That's so sad for him! He was all set to get his badge and everything! (As one who spent as much time as boy scout meetings with her brothers as she did at her own girl scout meeting I would be personally excited!) I hope he's home and resting now. Did he at least get his badge to go or are they honoring him another day?

I'm thinking it is the field bet vs Gallagher right now for the Benny Myers award, and I'd likely side with Gallagher even then still.

How about the Edmonton Edge with the next to last pythagorean record in the CL right now, but sits on top of the standings where it counts the most. Meanwhile Tokyo has had the opposite fortune.

12-3 at home, 3-9 on the road.

Now that's a home field advantage.

Tokyo reminds me of me.

Looks like that pick of Tasan is off to a good start.

I was worried the Blowey deal would have a positive effect on Ann Arbor, too. Hope my boys can catch that magic again.

Did he at least get his badge to go or are they honoring him another day?

He got his badge, then promptly went straight to the rest room where he lost his dinner. Little man is up in bed right now, hopefully getting better.

Disclaimer: Purely my opinion lol

I have thought the pythagorean record is somewhat overrated. I wish there was something more to go on. As is, its the best for what it tries to tell you though.

AGAIN JUST MY OPINION.
