In more modern stadiums, often parks have had to be oriented more to fit them into cities or multipurpose stadiums, so it might not be the case in every park these days though.

I've been to Wrigley lots of times. I just didn't know enough to know the difference.

<3 learning! Thanks!

I'm a pretty big MMA fan and love left handed pitchers so it kinda combines both of my loves. MMA and baseball.

Plus, if you really want to read into it a bit more, I am a Chicago White Sox fan and they are commonly known as the Southsiders. It's also, at least for me, a play off that.

I took my love for the White Sox, left handed pitchers and MMA to come up with the Southpaws to represent it all.

White Pounds HR #300
Sunday, August 27th, 2023: Banana Sluggers right fielder Terry White reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.

He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," White told reporters in the postgame interview.

He went 2-4 during the Havana 5-2 triumph over the Plantana Pirates and scored 1 run with 3 runs batted in.

His all-time numbers show White has compiled a .280 batting average and collected 1275 hits, 300 home runs and 938 RBIs.

I knew the White Sox reference for sure (being in Chicago and all) but it's cool to learn the rest. I'm intrigued by MMA but know very little about it. Sounds like a perfect name for you guys though!

Republic League Picks Best Starter in August
Friday, September 1st, 2023: In August, when the name of Steven van Lochem appeared on the Waikiki lineup card it was a virtual lock on a victory. He started 6 times and chalked up 4 wins and 1 loss. With those stats it was a also a virtual lock that he would be named the Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

van Lochem shackled opposing batters on 32 base hits and a .211 batting average. He rang up 28 strikeouts in 41 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks and fashioned a sparkling 2.20 ERA.

This year van Lochem has a 11-10 record with a 3.78 ERA.

Reliever Cardenas August's Pitcher of the Month
Friday, September 1st, 2023: Pablo Cardenas was the anchor in the Stafford bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for August. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 36 innings over no relief appearances and collected a 5-0 record with 21 strikeouts and no saves while etching his 3.00 ERA.

So far this season Cardenas has picked up no saves in no relief appearances. He has also compiled a 12-4 won-lost mark with a 4.44 ERA and fanned 92 batters in 154 innings.

RL Honors Rodríguez, #1 Batter in August
Friday, September 1st, 2023: In August, Alberto Rodríguez was the toughest out in the Republic League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month.

Presently Rodríguez is batting .281 with 23 home runs and 99 RBIs. He has played in 133 games and scored 90 times.

Washington's Field Snags August Batting Title

In August Field hit .363 with 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

We're lowering our standards from middle of the pack to NOT dead last. Despite the rebuild I did TRY to put some kind of team together.

yeah, but the problem is compared to other "A" or "B" rated teams, your team (and New York as well) don't necessarily have the elite starting pitching that others do. So you need your elite hitters to come through at elite status or you might have issues. Especially compared to the Southpaws who you clearly have better hitting talent, but their starting pitching is much better.

I'm not sure how much of an accomplishment it is to beat up on a team who's owner forgets to export.

It always comes down to pitching.

100% agree. I am a little disappointed in the team so far for sure. Still time to right the ship though.

I pride myself on my pitching staff.

Thanks for the recognition.

Portland's Castillo Gets 2500th Hit
Thursday, September 7th, 2023: Juan Castillo has gone through many bats during his playing career. None of them means as much to him as the one he used to crack career hit number 2500 at The Beaver Den yesterday.

The 41-year-old Axemen shortstop told reporters after the game, "I plan to keep this bat at home in my own private Hall of Fame."

It was a happy day for Castillo from the standpoint of the 2500-hit milestone, but a little disappointing, too. Despite his achievement, Portland dropped the contest to the New York Legends 5-1.

For the day Castillo finished the day with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

Lifetime Castillo is batting .277 with 532 doubles, 95 triples, 367 home runs and 1656 RBIs in 2410 games.

Forgetting to export is KIND OF like exporting when you're sick and dying. Neither one will get you very far.

But to be fair, I don't think spleen's beating has come from us.

Stafford has a magic number of 10
Washington has a magic number of 20

Chicago, St. Louis, Havana, Oshawa are still mathematically alive

Waikiki has a magic number of 16
Spring has a magic number of 18

Every team in the RL is still mathematically alive.

Well, Dan, it's a good thing that neither of us are playing to our Pyth. Records!

I still have a chance to catch ya although I'd definitely be surprised if we punched a playoff ticket over your squad.

Speaking of Pyth records, if you look at the pyth records, the entire RL is going pretty close to how I had predicted.

However as Chief will tell you, we don't have a FOOL mythical Pythagorean title!

-11 on your Pyth. Record.

It seems your team really shouldn't have been as bad as you thought and are playing right now.

I'm sure that you could write a script for that and come up with an award for it as well!

I wouldn't be surprised if you win. Your pitching is better. I can't develop control for the life of me.
