I think Dan's great, but I wouldn't be surprised either. I think Alan made a very valid point.

I seriously thought we were going to spend another year right in the middle of the pack...but hey, everything's fair game during rebuild time. Luckily none of my guys are on long contracts so I can just let them all go and go fishing!

Going 4-6 during a 10 game stretch in the middle of September is a sure fire way to keep yourself out of the playoffs.

I knew I couldn't count on my team down the stretch.

My lineup is very young and can't seem to produce the run support for my pitching.

That's a valid point if I didn't have the same kind of stretch.

Ann Arbor has a tough road ahead with 1 more game @ Las Vegas and then a three game home series with the RL regular season champ Waikiki

new York finishes the season with three home games vs Las Vegas

Spring has to finish up with three games on the road against last year's champion Maricopa!

Over in the CL....

Washington and Chicago finish up with a three game series @ Chicago for all of the marbles!

Zero Hour: Bradford Blanks Terriers
Wednesday, September 27th, 2023: Kelly Bradford was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Terriers. He shut them out 1-0 on 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Oshawa manager said, "Kelly was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."

The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Bradford has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."

In 31 starts this season Bradford has rung up a 6-12 record and a 3.76 ERA.

Chávez Belts Number 300
Wednesday, September 27th, 2023: At Rattlers Ballpark Jorge Chávez smashed his 300th career home run in a game against Maricopa today. The 29-year-old right fielder had a hand in the Cleveland Naps 9-3 victory with 1 home run and 1 RBI. For the day he went 3 hits-5 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Chávez downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

During his career Chávez has notched 1610 hits and a .300 average with 300 home runs and 1145 RBIs.

I'm hoping Landon Jones and Jorge Estrada come up big against Washington!

We need some runs on the board!

Final game of the season! playoff spots in both leagues are up for grabs!

There will be no tie in the CL, whoever wins this game gets the playoff spot!

In the RL, if both Spring and New York win or both lose then there will be a best of three playoff between the two teams to determine which one heads to the promised lands.

Washington may not have the overall starting pitching that Chicago does, but a great matchup to end the season between the two:

Belzile for Washington (13-6 2.96 ERA) vs Wheaton for Chicago (16-6 3.26 ERA)

over in the RL:

Arredondo (13-8 5.36 ERA) pitches for New York vs Las Vegas
Sloan (11-8 5.19 ERA) pitches for Spring vs Maricopa

Two great races to claim the final playoff ticket.

It's well worth it!

Washington 9, Chicago 5

Washington wins the playoff spot on the final day of the season!

New York 6, Las Vegas 5
Spring 4, Maricopa 3

Both teams remain tied after the end of the season!

Since Spring led the regular season series between the two teams, they will host the best of three playoff with new York to determine which team makes the postseason.

Congrats Dan.

Wheaton was the guy I would have chosen to have on the mound on the final day in a mini playoff to get to the big dance.

You beat us with our best on the mound.

You better win it all or I'm coming after you next year!

Actually, win or not, I'm still hunting you down next year!
