there's alot more drills to complete.

qb you have the 40yd dash, precision passing, throw distance, skeleton passing, and option attack

rb you have 40yd dash, rushing attack, wr/rb catching (most useless drill ever), punt return, kick return

and so on

I just became VERY happy that I'm not getting it on 360 this year... Apparently, I-AA schools are not in the 360 version... I ALWAYS use my alma mater which is a I-AA school.. my concern is what this may mean combined with the I-AA rosters not being updated for the future of I-AA schools being included ;(...

Hmmm.. plenty of NCAA 07 in stock around me. Gotta gather up some of the old XBox games to trade 'em in... bring that price down .

Thanks.

I think this, combined with wade's comment about I-AA teams not being included with the 360 version, just pushed me into a current-gen purchase.

I imagine someone I know around here will pick it up for the 360.

Hmm, this nor the campus legend mode is a deal-breaker for me.

Yeah, I'm aware that I'm in the minority there, which is probably why it is being phased out...

But for me this is about not buying a 360, not about which game to buy because I already have both systems...

Yeah I wasn't trying to say anything other than I've never had any use for I-AA teams, other than scheduling them for an easy win every year. And MLB 06:The Show was the first time I've ever did the whole create a player thing. And after a while, it wasn't my cup of team. I hope that EA doesn't include the Superstar mode, or whatever they're calling it in this year's Madden for the 360, because it's a waste(to me) of development time.

I'm glad I got the 360 version. I may be somewhat of a graphics whore, but it just looks too sweet...

The gameplay is astounding as well. I think I'll probably have to tweak the sliders, but out of the box it plays very well.

Superstar is being included in Madden for the 360 this year, and it will use position specific cameras and position specific controls, and you will only control your player unlike last year.

I strongly suspect Campus Legend mode will be included in next year's version of NCAA on the 360. I just think they decided they didn't have time to include it this year, and I'm glad it was left out if it means they spent more time tightening the gameplay. Speaking of which, I picked it up during lunch.. only about 3 hours until I get home from work and get to start playing it

You playing on AA or Heisman? I'm reconsidering the idea of starting on Heisman as I was never that good at the game.

One thing I like for sure after my first game:

When the QB gets drilled trying to throw, it's more likely to be a fumble.

I got the very last copy of the current-gen XBox version at my local Gamestop.

Guy said they had plenty of the other systems in stock, including 360 and PS2, but the XBox ones were just flying off the shelf.

And right as I was taking my purchase out, a guy came in and asked for the current-gen XBox version and the clerk said, "Sorry, I *just* sold the last one."

The crest-fallen look on the guy's face was hilarious in that Schadenfreude kinda way.

It was like that in Madden for the 360 last year. Tough to get used to though.

One thing I noted from the manual. It suggests that if you're a senior in Campus Legend mode, you can become a coach after you graduate. So that seems to imply you can go from Campus Legend to Dynasty Mode coach and keep the same universe.

If that's true, that's damn awesome.

Do the players have actual names or are they named "RB 32"?

I think I might have to get the transfer kit.

You need to buy the transfer kit and download rosters if you want them to have real names. However, there is an option to generate fictional names if you just want to do that without buying a transfer kit.

Okay. That's cool. I was hoping I could give them fictional names. I'm not so worried about playing with real players, really. Hmmm.

Just to be clear, can I have fictional names from the start?

It was? Huh, don't remember seeing it. Oh well. It's all good.

I'm loving the expanded games, by the way. So far I've run a QB through the paces (3*, #30 on down offered me schollies) and HB (3*, #30 on down again), which shocked me as I kicked ass on quite a few HB drills, but oh well.

I'll try all the positions before settling on what to play.

Just played my first game on the 360. Loved it. My dislike of 2005 & 2006 came to bear however, because I was absolutely horrible. I "led" Maryland to a 16-10 loss to East Carolina at home. On Varsity. Eek. My offense was horrible, as my only TD was an interception return.

Though they are a bit repetitive, I find myself mesmerized by the graphical interludes before a play begins. Because of this, I was way low on the number of plays called in the game. I'm either going to have to stop watching or hike the game clock to 15 minutes.

Oh...and my wife is having a girl's night out tonight. Woohoo!

Only problem is I have to go to Brooklyn, NY, on Wednesday - possible until Friday. ugh. At least I'll have 2007 on the PSP to keep me company .

I still can't get below a 4.8

Updates:

FB: 5* got offers from #1 all the way down due to kicking ass on drills and allocating the points properly.

WR: 3* #30 on down

LE: 3* #30 on down

RE: skipped the drills to be a 1*, offers from #62, #63, #71, etc. first time I've seen non-consecutive schools offer that I'm aware of.

Holy cow, are the DB-specific drills ever hard! On the QB Cover and Pass Skeleton drills I ended up with negative points on both.

Busted out with a 4.51 on my LOLB though, best yet.

So I'm thinking I'm gonna go either HB or some type of LB for my dynasty.

The only problem is, how many minutes do I need to play per quarter to get my LB enough stats to kick ass with?

Doesn't seem to be a bug in NCAA. When I got hit you could see the defender making contact with the ball jarring it loose. Other times I got hit on the other side the nothing.

Campus Legend is tons of funs compared to Race to Heisman. I started a career as a LOLB, I had amazing drills and had scholarships offerend from every school (3 was not enough, every is a bit too much... Ain't there a middle in-between?) and decided to play for Wisconsin. I chosed Chemistry as a major.

The gameplay is pretty good although I'd like to be able to get better sliders...

It's pretty fun so far, although I'm not very good, we're 1-6! I've got good stats though with 28 tackles, 6TFL, 4 sacks, 3INTs and 1FF. I've spent a lot of time studying and I've got a 3.7GPA; I don't know how GPAs work but I'm assuming it's pretty good cause it's pretty easy. I had 100% in my midterm exam; they ask pretty easy questions.

I haven't gotten through a game on my 360 without it locking up. The demo was locking up on me, but I figured the regular game would be fine. This really sucks. All my other games still work.

How is the studing thing? you just alocate time for studing or are you asked for real questions in an exam? If the later i don't think it's a really good idea.

So.. Just played through about 3 quarters of a JMU @ W&M exhibition game... First, as EaglesFan27 mentioned, for those of us that enjoy I-AA this sucks.. these are the EXACT SAME rosters as last year.. ugh... This really seems to point to the phasing out of I-AA which will decrease my desire to get this game..

Anyway.. In my little bit of play.. I have to be honest... besides bells and whistles, the gampeplay seems very similar to last year to me... I really haven't noticed any significant difference.... Makes me wonder how much I'll regret not getting this on the 360 so I'd at least have shiny new graphics...

Eek - do you have the intercooler? I've heard the majority of problems happen because of overheating. When did you get the 360?

Each week day, you have a practice in the afternoon (which I skip) and another activity to plan for the night. You get to chose between studying, meeting with a tutor (takes two nights), position drills (takes two night) or social activity. Studying asks gives you a question and its answer and helps to raise your GPA. Meeting with a tutor gives you a five question exam to raise your GPA. Position drills gives you the choice between one of the four you did at first and is useful to gain attributes. Social activity just raises your popularity.

It's nothing really noteworthy, it's just better than what it was last year. Your major choice influence your attributes though. You can chose between an easy major (Division I team names, cities...), medium major (Division II team names, mascot names...) or hard major (Chemistry, Sports medicine...) and each has a specific set of attributes that are going to be improved. Chemistry, the one I chose, improves strenght, tackle and awareness.

It's not much, but it's more fun than what it was last year where I didn't play Race for the Heisman at all because it was so bad. This is a nice alternative to dynasty mode.

*sigh* this makes me want to go back to playing 2004. You try and go outside, you get slammed for the loss. Go inside, and you're lucky to get 2 yards.

Yeah, 3* HB all right, with a lovely 0.5 ypc average.

Users.

If you got sacked with the hit stick, you would fumble about 5 times a game.

I remember quite well playing online with a friend and returning at least 2 TD's for scores a game because of it.

Picked QB in Campus Legend, and chose (surprise!) WVU as my school. The game automatically puts you as starter, regardless of the ratings of the QB's in your position, so I put myself as the #2 guy, and stuck Pat White back in as QB.

He's really fast.

Anyway, I chose English as my major, and either my QB is a moron, or I'm not doing something right ... I'm answering the questions correctly when I'm given the sample tests by the tutor (Icy: you answer multiple choice questions for exams, and they are relevant to the major you pick). If I do nothing but study and tutor for the week, I can raise it to just above 2.0, but the minute I go back to doing some position specific drills, and only study say 2 days a week, it drops again.

The gameplay is nice, though. The new interface to receiving punts and kickoffs is very nice (it's a tight third person perspective). I'm impressed with this game so far.

Yeah, 3* HB all right, with a lovely 0.5 ypc average.
Sample size baby. Sample size.

That's different from what were talking about. When playing the AI, if you try to throw while being hit, it can turn into a fumble.

In my game, Steve Slaton from WVU is averaging right around 5.6 ypc. The running game seems very true to form.

Something bad I noticed is for outside runs. The blockers are really bad and simply run in front of you without blocking opposing players... quite annoying to say the least.

EDIT: This is on the xbox version.

MaddenMania seems to be going very slow, does anyone have the rosters yet? Or are they even out?

What version are you using? I'm not seeing that much.

Yeah guys - be clear which NCAA you're talking about. I have the 360 and the PSP version and they are vastly different in gameplay.

On the XBOX version.

I'm asking myself if playing with the run blocking slider would change anything, I only have the problem with outside runs so if modifying the run blocking slider would make the inside runs easier too it would only solve my problem by creating another one...
