These magicians are often taken for granted as the season grinds along, but today they take center stage. The Continental League Best Fielder Awards selections for 2169 are:

CL Announces 2169 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award
Saturday, November 18th, 2169: Goldofrede Alderete, left fielder of Cleveland, was the cream of the freshman crop in the Continental League and today he received the 2169 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

He played in 143 games, compiling a .307 batting average with 142 hits, 27 home runs, 32 walks, and a .360 on-base percentage. Alderete also chipped in 109 RBIs and scored 66 times.


Top RL Rookie Trophy Taken by González
Saturday, November 18th, 2169: It wasn't a stroke of good luck that got Omaha's Francisco González the 2169 Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award, it was his skill on the field. The gifted first baseman performed well with a .244 batting average, while playing in 162 games and delivering 155 hits in 636 at-bats. His totals also included 34 home runs, 96 RBIs, 67 runs scored, 21 walks and a .271 OPB.

Brooklyn's Meléndez Takes Best Pitcher Prize
Monday, November 20th, 2169: The Gabriel Prado Award for 2169 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Jaime Meléndez of Brooklyn.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Meléndez. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Brownstones star told reporters.

Meléndez excelled with an impressive 17-6 record in 32 starts. In 211.2 innings he yielded 209 hits and 49 walks, while striking out 200 and compiling a fine 2.98 ERA.


Ann Arbor Reliever Takes Gabriel Prado Award
Monday, November 20th, 2169: The spotlight today is on Albert Trillo of the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines. The bullpen ace was named the top pitcher in the Republic League and he will be honored with the 2169 Gabriel Prado Award.

Ann Arbor's star reliever held the opposition to a .185 average and put up 37 saves and 48 strikeouts in 75.1 innings with a 9-7 mark and a 1.67 ERA.

Republic League Top Batsman Is Moreno
Tuesday, November 21st, 2169: Víctor Moreno has plenty of options after winning the Republic League Hideaki Tanaka Award for 2169 today.

The soon-to-be free agent compiled a .300 batting average and a .390 on-base percentage this year while pummeling the opposition with 193 hits, 44 doubles, 3 triples, 46 home runs and 131 RBIs.


Tapia Signs for 8 years
Wednesday, November 22nd, 2169: The Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines have finished a deal with All Star-caliber starting pitcher Ramón Tapia that will extend his stay in Ann Arbor at least 8 years and will pay out $62,000,000.

In career stats, the 26-year-old Tapia has won 58 and lost 60, recording 741 strikeouts and 415 walks in 968.1 innings with a 3.96 ERA. Opponents have hit .256 against him.
