Lenzi Snares CL Top Batter Award in April
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: Luiz Lenzi battered Continental League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Lenzi told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Lenzi hit .356 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 22 runs.

Harvey Homer Winner in Republic League
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 32-year-old Harvey Homer put together a solid offensive month for Ann Arbor and was crowned April's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .303 with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Bullpen Ace Wins Best CL Pitcher
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: Hilton West has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Brownstones bullpen ace collected 6 saves and 23 strikeouts in 17 innings, holding the opposition to a .203 average and posting a 1.59 ERA and a 2-0 record.

RL Selects Burton April's Best Starter
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: Nicholas Burton took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

The 25-year-old Hooligans starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-1 won-lost record in 5 starts. This month he fanned 36 batters in 38 innings and compiled a 1.42 ERA.

Baltimore Rookie Hits His Way to CL Honor
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: It might be just his first year in the league, but Joe Hutchinson is playing like he's been here before. The Baltimore right fielder rang up some lofty numbers in the last 30 days and snagged the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

In April he hit .384 with 3 home runs and 28 hits. He walked 1 times and compiled a .416 on-base percentage, scored 15 times and drove in 14.

RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tuesday, May 1st, 2170: John Hartman was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 14 games Hartman batted .420 for Hartford, slapping 21 hits in 50 at-bats with no home runs, drove in 10 runs and scored 9 times.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, June 1st, 2170: Youngster Alfredo García emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Noblesville deserved the honor, batting .286 with 1 home run and 12 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let García enjoy the limelight.

So far this year García has 1 home run and a .298 batting average.

Ann Arbor Newcomer May's #1 Rookie
Friday, June 1st, 2170: Pedro Nájera earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Ann Arbor first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Nájera hit .337 with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

In 52 games this year Nájera has posted a .281 average and put up these numbers: 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and 29 runs scored.

Continental League Selects July's Best Batter
Wednesday, August 1st, 2170: Les Noonan received the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," Cleveland's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Les's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Noonan put up a .326 batting average, 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 20 times in July.

This year Noonan has hit at a .339 clip with 119 hits, 27 home runs, 84 RBIs and 86 runs scored.

In September, the 32-year-old Omaha third baseman hit .347 with 9 home runs and 23 RBIs.

Continental League Premier Pitcher is Canó
Monday, October 1st, 2170: It is a rare occurrence, but it happened in September. A reliever, Jorge Canó, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the Continental League.

In September, the Halifax relief specialist stood out with no saves in no relief appearances, a 3-1 won-lost mark and 0.93 ERA. He worked 38.2 innings, allowed 24 hits, struck out 22 and walked 6.

This year Canó has collected no saves in no relief appearances. He has also compiled a 8-12 won-lost mark with a 4.02 ERA and fanned 93 batters in 183.2 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .286 clip in 2170.

September's Premier Pitcher Announced By RL
Monday, October 1st, 2170: Han-seung Paek left little doubt in the minds of Republic League officials that he should be named September's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance.

"I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Paek. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down."

The 23-year-old tossed 35 innings of quality baseball -- going 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA and 16 strikeouts.

For the season Paek has logged 15 wins and 5 losses and struck out 111 batters in 191.1 innings while compiling a 3.25 ERA.

Uh, wow.

We won the last four and Apex lost the last five. We win by one game.

And the last series was BRK vs Apex. All Apex had to do was win one game out of three, and it was over. They were swept.

Ouch. Sorry dude

Sorry for the late notice but I'm going to have to cancel the sim for tomorrow. The wife made plans for the holiday that I can't get out of. Again sorry for the late notice but I promise you I just found out about it. We'll do a Saturday sim this week again to get back on track.

Chico Rebels owner commits suicide, Rebels franchise to move to Montreal.

Chuck McGraw well know in the sports world for being a leading investor in the Phoenix Coyotes and Chico Rebals, ends it all after a depressing 115 loss.

Distraught over a season that saw 47 wins and 115 losses, owner "fuck-it Chuck" was heard yelling "fuck it, it ain't worth it anymore"... after the final 117 loss. According to onlookers Chuck downed a bottle of Jack Daniels and jumped from the owners box into the bullpen. Shocked baseball fans and media were very surprised to see Chuck alive upon landing. He then sauntered over to the clubhouse and pissed on a light socket, ending an apparently very bad day...

It sure isn't the way I would like to go out, but the crew here at ESPN gives him a surprising A+ for style.

I was actually surprised you were going to run a sim on the holiday to begin with. No biggie
