CL Announces 2105 Top Gloves

Good glovemen take pride in their defensive skills. They know they make a difference in baseball. Even on days when they don't get a hit, they feel they can make a difference in the field -- and they do. The Continental League announced its Slick Fielder Award honorees for 2105. This year's recipients are:

Pitcher: Tom Brewer (St Louis Hops)
Catcher: Fernando Durango (St Louis Hops)
First Baseman: Otis Edwards (Havana Banana Sluggers)
Second Baseman: Cheng-hao Que (Manchester Terriers)

CL Best Newcomer Named

It was a very productive rookie season for London second baseman Ken Hodges. He made the club, made the starting lineup, then in the regular season put up numbers impressive enough that the Continental League presented him the league's Kien-lung Teng Award for 2105.

It was a season to remember for the 22-year-old Bishops newcomer. In addition to hitting .264, Hodges played in 161 games and collected 12 home runs, 75 RBIs and 80 runs scored.

The 2105 Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award winner is Santiago López of the Beach Boys.

In the 2105 season the 25-year-old Waikiki center fielder played in 162 games, recording a .293 batting average with 4 home runs, 76 RBIs and 104 runs scored.

Stanley Picked Best CL Pitcher

The Mauro Morales Award for 2105 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Tucker Stanley of Omaha.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Stanley. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Bees star told reporters.

Stanley excelled with an impressive 16-6 record in 33 starts. In 204.1 innings he yielded 195 hits and 43 walks, while striking out 154 and compiling a fine 2.42 ERA.


#1 Pitcher Picked for 2105

The 2105 Mauro Morales Award in the Republic League has been given to Carlos Morales of the Portland.

The Axemen ace worked 212.2 innings this season, crafting a 18-4 record and a 2.50 ERA in 33 starts. Morales collected 234 strikeouts while walking 34 and limiting opponents to a .237 batting average.

Weston Selected CL's Best Batter

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2105 Bartolo Liriano Award in the Continental League. It had already been a very special season for Washington's Max Weston, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Max Weston gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .308 as he collected 209 hits, 54 doubles, 8 triples, 40 home runs and 120 RBIs.


2105 RL Top Hitter Trophy Given to Grafals

José Grafals has been around FOOL-X enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2105 season, he's taking home the Bartolo Liriano Award in the Republic League.

The Spring left fielder put up a batting average of .312 with 26 doubles, 2 triples, 45 home runs and 130 RBIs.
