IWS #40 Results
bryce, you are the winner of I'm With Stupid #40!
The results: 1. Name a fish commonly consumed by humans. Tuna - 6 Salmon - 5 Catfish - 4 Anjovis (anchovies) - 1 Trout - 1 I expected a 2 way race between tuna and salmon, didn't expect catfish. Considering the pub it's gotten in another thread, I'm now surprised trout didn't fare better. 2. Name a female character from a James Bond film. Pussy Galore - 10 Jinx - 5 Halle Berry - 3 Octopussy - 1 This one got me in trouble...Alf was the first to put Halle Berry, but I allowed him to "correct" his answer....instead of correcting it to Jinx, he corrected it to Miss Moneypenny When another entry listed Halle Berry, I notified Alf that I would be going with his original answer, and would no longer meddle with answers in the future. FWIW, Miss Moneypenny was a great answer.... 3. Name a musical performer or group of performers from Europe, excepting the British Isles, that has had a popular stint in the US. ABBA - 10 Beatles - 2 Europe (naturally) - 2 Scorpions - 1 Celine Dion (Canadian!) - 1 TATU - 1 Las Ketchups - 1 ? - 1 What, no Roxette?? KWhit tried some strategy here, listing Beatles knowing they were an incorrect answer. It didn't work out, but someone else did list them. I don't think TATU or Las Ketchups have quite caught on here in the states. 4. Name a "Brady". Marcia/Marsha - 11 Tom - 4 Greg - 2 Mike - 1 Fred (this one escapes me...) - 1 Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. Should be noted that only Maple, Mustang and hahnkim spelled it correctly. Kudos to those who answered Tom, BTW. 5. Besides spaghetti, name a type of pasta. Linguini - 4 Fettucini - 3 Lasagna - 3 Angel Hair - 2 Macaroni - 2 Tortellini - 1 Rattitore - 1 Rigatoni - 1 Ravioli - 1 Mostacholli - 1 Not much to say here. 6. Complete the following: Blue ______ Moon - 3 Lagoon - 3 Jay/Jays - 2 Berry - 1 Cheese - 1 Fish - 1 Velvet - 1 Heaven - 1 Steel - 1 Ocean - 1 Skies - 1 Jackets - 1 River - 1 A wildcard, and one that was all over the place with anwers. Max Score: 92400 Winner: bryce, 52800, 57.14% |

Good IWS!
I can't believe that I picked Greg instead of Marsha. I forgot rule #7 of IWS--"When in doubt among two or more people as good answers--choose the one with whom most people on the board would want to have sex." |

For Pete's sake, that's fourth 3rd from the bottom ranking in a row!

My first thought was Marsha as well. I thought Greg would be the consensus though.
These are hella fun though, thanks cuervo72! Todd |

holy balls, this is only the second time i've participated in one of these bad boys. i read all of the contests, but usually refrain b/c there is always one question in each set that i don't even have the slightest knowledge of (usually pertaining to golf or bond movies, but this one i actually knew, but not from the movie - rather, from one of my HS history teachers a decade ago! who knew it would come in handy so far down the road?).
anywho, i'll slap up some questions monday, as i'm betting a lot of people are like me and don't check the board over the weekend anyway. (you can bet your ass, though, that there won't be any golf or bond movie questions.) have a good weekend. college world series! go horns! bryce |

Hey, thanks for the compliments guys. I try to get some questions that have a broad appeal, and have the opportunity for some interesting answers..some have 1 or 2 obvious choices, and some are just wildcards. Sometimes the answers surprise me....
I missed any football/sports tie-in this time though (though steering away from soccer and baseball makes the game a bit fairer, though I don't know if anything will help MIJB at this point ).

Hey, I'll do my best every single time.
Just two 1's this time (I somehow couldn't come p with Tuna or Salmon; I all forgot about the long time retired, yet still selling records, childhood drama called ABBA) How can people miss Tom Brady, Super Bowl MVP just 17 months ago? Who is that Marcia anyway? |
