Pick your NFL Young Gun (Choose two)

You are taking over a generic NFL team. And you get to pick which of the following 1st or 2nd year quarterbacks you want on your team.

To make it a little more interesting, pick your top two choices.

My first thought? There is a lot of young QB talent in the league.

Luck/Wilson.

I'd have probably taken RGIII, but I had a feeling even before the season started that durability would be a long term issue.

Kaepernick is a nice player, but I am not so sure how he would do without all the weapons he already has around him. Not sure he's a "ground floor" type of player.

What do you consider a young QB? You left off a ton of QBs that are younger than Brandon Weeden (age 28): Stafford, Matt Ryan, Flacco, etc). In fact, I think Aaron Rodgers and Weeden are close to the same age.

You have Dalton listed, but several other QBs the same age you don't have listed: Stafford, Bradford, Freeman as examples..

Weeden being traded for Kevin Brown is a funny story.

It says first or second year player in the first post.

Just looked it up, Rogers is actually younger than Weeden...

Personally considering how long QBs play these days (age 35-37) with high quality, I probably would pick Rogers over any of these guys and get another good 6-8 years out of him. He is only 5-6 years older than most of these guys who aren't necessarily sure things yet (due to possible injury issues, or just time in the league)

I just picked the last two drafts. Weeden does kind of screw that up age-wise.

And, yeah, if I had the whole league to choose from, and I took off my Saints/Brees homer glasses, I would pick Rogers. The right mix of excellent and still young enough.

Rodgers is easily 1.1 in an NFL dispersal draft

Before injury, I would have picked RGIII. But with those woes already started, it's Luck or Wilson, depending on what type of offense you want to run.

Andrew Luck and Trout Troutman. If I could get the former, I wouldn't care about who I got with the latter.

Also, as a 49ers fan who loves Kaepernick, if you gave Jim Harbaugh the choice of Luck or Kaepernick, I bet he goes Luck each and every time.

I voted Luck followed by Kaepernick, but if I wasn't a Niner fan, I'd go Wilson since I've loved him from his time at NC State.

But yes, no doubt Luck would be my first choice. If he was a completely immobile QB, I think it would be more debatable.

No doubt. Luck is a once-in-a-generation type. He has the greatest chance of growing up to be Tom Brady.

No one had better pick Ryan Lindley, myself included.

dola.

Hard to argue with our choices of Luck/Wilson, especially b/c Luck was not really known as injury prone.

I'm surprised Cam didn't get more love.

Yeah, this might be my least bad FOFC future take ever. I’m proud of me not picking Ryan Lindley.

It's a shame that Troutman suffered such a horrific CEI.

Scary to think that, after Wilson, the best QB left on that list now might be a guy who just got the starting gig a few weeks ago. The only other guy in discussion for #2, IMO, is Cousins.

The Tannehill question is fascinating to me. I think there's some underlying numbers (he's still throwing INTs at a top 10 rate) that mean his performance so far this year is partly a mirage, but if he shows the same next season - on a team that to be honest is pretty devoid of receiving talent - what does that mean for the Dolphins that he leaves and immediately becomes a good starter?

I mean I know the media loves to tear down Cousins every chance they get but.... He has 24tds, 4 ints, 8.4 ypa, 70.1% this year. I dont think its even debatable that he is currently #2 on that list. If Luck hadnt retired and Cam wasnt injured youd bump them ahead of him but... Cousins has made 1 terrible pass this year(against Green Bay) but has been pretty much on the rest of the year.

So many good/great QBs in college that didn't do the same in the NFL.
