New game: Survivor FOFC
With all of the survivor posts lately, I thought that it would be fun to have our own real version of survivor. Here are the rules.
We will start with 10-15 volunteers. We will not use anyone who does not volunteer to be part of the game. You cannot volunteer someone else. If we get more than 15 volunteers then we will only use the first 15 who signed up. Each weekday we will have an immunity challenge. The nature of this challenge will vary from day to day. The challenge may come at any time of the day, or night. Whoever wins this challenge will not be eligible for elimination. I will post the current list of which members of the FOFC are still alive in the game. Each surviving member should PM me with their vote as to who should be the next member voted off of the “Island”. You will have 24 hours after the immunity challenge has been completed to cast your vote. Please do not forget to vote. If I feel like one of the contestants has ceased participating in the game, he will be eliminated. The game will pause over weekends as there are some who do not spend much time on the board on the weekends. You can cast your ballots any time during the weekend, even if it is past the 24 hour mark, but make sure your vote is cast 9:00 AM (eastern) Monday morning. In addition, there will be an audience poll as to who should be the next one voted off. Whoever gets the most votes in that poll will receive 1 additional vote. This will allow the rest of the FOFC community a chance to get involved in the game. In the event of a tie, whoever wins immunity will decide among the tied contestants as to who will be eliminated. If you are interested in playing this game please post to this thread now.

Just a thought, but I think it would be funny to have a Survivor Thread topic where you give a subject of the day and the Survivors must give their opinions on it. This would help us to decide who we want to vote out based on their level of participation and how they interact with each other within that thread. That gives the added drama to the Immunity Challenge if somebody really pisses everybody off and they know they're likely to go. You could have serious or cheeseball topics. I think right now we're looking at a popularity contest where as this could help to create heros and villians and give people better reasons on who to vote for.
Just a thought. I'm sure you have it under control. |

I supose we could go with tribes. In that case though we should have an even number to start with, so I'll bump it up to 16 contestants.

I actually proposed something like this on the old board, but could never figure out good enough challenges to make it work. Good luck, stkelly. This could be really fun.

I think that you are going to see some very creative challenges to start out with, becuase I do have some good ideas, but I think soon it may just turn into a bunch of trivia questions. We will have to see.

ooh...I want in.
I think Brad was on to something. You do need a reason to vote someone off. So maybe go with discussions about certain topics? And instead of allowing just the survivors to vote someone off, why not allow the whole board to vote? |

I did add an element of that, there will be a poll to give one more vote as decided on by the whole FOFC, but one of the things that is best about Survivor is the alliances. Can you really trust that person to vote for who he said he was going to? Which alliances will hold strong, and which ones will fall apart. I really want to keep that aspect of the game.

I was thinking. Maybe we should each adopt an alter-ego for the contest so that existing relative popularity does not come in to play so much.

I was thinking the same thing. However, my experience with games like Diplomacy is that prior popularity and relationships would probably only affect the first round or two. After that, people are into the game and past trust doesn't mean much. I also think it would it be hard to interact with people completely anonymously - you would have no sense of trust or engagement.

I tend to think that Marmel and I are going to be handicapped by being prolific posters. It will put a big old target on our backs.

I don't know about that. It depends. Although you too have been posting for a long time, several of the other contesteants have developed a following in the last few months. Maybe the "tribes" could be grizzed veterans vs. Waterboys. Who knows. The only reason I mentioned you two guys is that I seem to respond to many of the same threads as you do. Plus the fact that I have failed miserably in past competitions with Marmel. (FFFL & the original Fight Club) |

I would play if there is room as well, but my guess is that we have already reached the limit. But stkelly could find a way to include all of us who are interested, I would be down with that.

Well we are now full. I am sorry that there isn't room for everyone, but this is going to wind up taking almost a month as it is. The fianl contestant is SplitPersonality1...I think. Was rkmsuf signing up when he posted? I am not sure.
