TV's Locklear and rocker Sambora calling it quits

TV's Locklear and rocker Sambora calling it quits

Locklear Files for Divorce: But Did Sambora Know?

February 3, 2006

ET has confirmed the surprising news that after more than 11 years of marriage, HEATHER LOCKLEAR, 44, and her rocker husband, RICHIE SAMBORA, 46, are calling it quits. In court papers filed Thursday, Locklear cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

"Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Richie Sambora," according to her publicist. "This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

Hollywood pals aren't the only ones shocked by the news -- it appears Sambora himself may not have heard about the papers filed. In an interview with ABC News Radio just last night, Sambora said reports that he and his famous wife were splitting were "completely untrue."

When asked about any Valentine's Day plans, Sambora said, "I'm going to go home ... Heather was just up for our anniversary and, that was December 15th ..."

The "Melrose Place" star and BON JOVI guitarist have one child, 8-year-old AVA ELIZABETH. Locklear was previously married to another rocker, TOMMY LEE, until 1993.

Just last June on the red carpet at 'The Perfect Man' premiere, Sambora told our KEVIN FRAZIER what made Locklear so perfect for him: "Just look at her, I got the prettiest girl in the place everywhere I go."

Locklear also told ET only seven months ago that Sambora was the perfect guy for her, and that he was "there for me, he sings to me."

At last night's "Dancing with the Stars" taping, Locklear's former "Melrose Place" co-star LISA RINNA admitted she was also shocked by the news: "I love them ... I truly adore her, she is one of my favorite people in life. When there are kids involved, it's sad."

Heather is like the hottest 44-year old this side of Saturn. I'd hit it.

I think you guys both have wax in your ears. It's not Jerry of Jim Rice fired. The headline read that Mike Tice was fired. Get with the times.
