RW&B Racin' 2014 Sprint Cup season

I just got Red White and Blue Racin' from PLAAY, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have the 2014 season set, and am going to re-create the 2014 season to see what happens. I'm going to use NASCAR qualifying rules (provisions base on points, championship, etc.). Also, I am using NASCAR scoring, and will also use the actual drivers used for the particular race. This is because the #32, #33, and #66 cars had multiple drivers over the course of the season.

My house rules for the game:

1. TV drivers will always include any feuding drivers, the previous week's winner, and last year's race winner.
2. Any pit violation or black flag will cause a FUME.
3. If on the receiving end of a duel, and fails an escape check, this will cause a FEUD between the two drivers.
4. If #3 causes a DNF, this feud will carry to the next race.
5. If a feud is acted upon during a race, it will carry to the next race.
6. If the instigator of a duel fails an escape check, he will FUME.
7. All optional rules will be used with the following exceptions:
a. No laps led performance chips.
b. The Big One can only happen on superspeedways.
c. The red triangle symbol will only be removed from the race if they fail
a gas check.

BUDWEISER DUELS

Race Week: Danica Patrick has engine trouble during qualifying. Brian Scott commits a rules violation. Marcos Ambrose unveils a new paint scheme for the race.

Carl Edwards wins the pole, with Denny Hamlin on the outside. The rest of the field still has an opportunity to earn their places at Daytona with the Budweiser Duels.

Duel #1: Carl Edwards immediately has a cooling problem and heads into the pits for some early repairs, with Keselowski taking the early lead. This all causes a MASSIVE crash, involving Kyle Busch, Gordon, T. Labonte, Kahne, Larson, Allgaier, Vickers, Biffle, and Wise. All cars are able to continue. Things run pretty smoothly to the first green flag pits stops. Edwards has a great pit stop, and makes up for his early problems. B. Labonte is flashing back 20 years, and is the leader after the pits stops have been completed. As the race is winding down, Bayne has to head to the garage with some sort of problem, which will effectively keep him out of the Daytona 500. Mears also has to make an unscheduled pit stop for some grill repairs. Bobby Labonte cruises to an easy win, as everyone took it fairly safe after the early crash. Top 5 – B. Labonte, Gordon, Kahne, Edwards, and J. J. Yeley, who will participate in the main event in a surprise.

Duel #2: As in the first race, a problem occurred right at the start. Bowyer had to head to the pits with a clutch problem. Also, Martin Truex Jr. puts Kenseth into the wall at the beginning of the race, bringing out an early yellow. About 1/3 through the race, Dillon takes a very short lived lead before he is overtaken by Harvick. Stenhouse Jr. is forced to head to the garage with a failed clutch. Then it is noticed that the condition of the track is starting to deteriorate. This could cause problems for the people at the front. The only round of pit stops does a lot of shaking up of the order, but Harvick maintains his lead. It is short lived, as Dillon takes a short lead, before being overtaken by Hamlin at the halfway point. At this point, Kenseth tries to get revenge on Truex for putting him into the wall. Unfortunately, he crashes himself out of the race in the process, bringing out another yellow flag. As the race was winding down, there was a flurry of action, with Jimmie Johnson taking the lead. But it in the last lap, Juan Pablo Montoya made a furious charge, taking the lead and the checkered flag. Top 5 – Montoya, Ambrose, Johnson, Hamlin, Kurt Busch.

The final order for the Daytona 500 is now determined.

DAYTONA 500

Carl Edwards starts in the lead. Lap 3, Keselowski has to head to the pits for a radiator problem. Lap 6 brings the first yellow flag as Hamlin, who was having a great week in Daytona, crashes along with Kahne. Both teams are able to get their cars back in the race. Lap 21, Montoya makes an overly aggressive move to try and move up, and spins himself out, bringing out a yellow. During the confusion, B. Labonte, who had dropped some in the field, also made an aggressive move on Ambrose. The entire field pits during the yellow. After the shuffling during the pit stops, Edwards holds on to his lead.

Lap 37 finally yields a new leader as Jimmie Johnson makes a move to take over the top spot. His lead was short, as on lap 38, Danica Patrick takes the lead. On lap 42, Edwards makes an overly reckless move to pass Johnson, spinning him out and bringing out a yellow. In five laps, he went from first to last. The field is getting a little testy, as drivers are trying dangerous moves, including Kligerman and Ambrose. Will cooler heads prevail?

On lap 56, Edwards retakes the lead. He manages to hold on to it after a round of green flag pit stops. Lap 76 gives a new leader in the form of Kevin Harvick. Lap 81 has our first casualty, as Yeley, who was running a great race in 6^th place, blew his engine. This triggered a flurry of activity, as on the next lap Kenseth took the lead, only to lose it to Kyle Busch in lap 84. The action continued, as Kenseth retook the top spot in lap 90, only to lose it to Gordon, who has been steadily moving up the field, in lap 92.

Another round of green flag pits stops gives us a new leader in Biffle on lap 105. Nothing interesting happens until lap 126, when Tony Stewart makes his first appearance in front. Danica Patrick takes back the lead on lap 128.

On lap 138, The Big One happens. Patrick, at the front of the pack, loses control, and cars start piling up. When it is all said and done, Patrick, Waltrip, Kenseth, Larson, Kahne, Edwards, Kligerman, Scott, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Amirola, Newman, Vickers, Logano, Bowman, Keselowski, and Whitt are all involved. Of these drivers, Patrick, Waltrip, Scott, Kurt Busch, Almirola, Logano, Keselowski, and Whitt are unable to continue. After everything is sorted out, our new leader is Justin Allgaier.

The field pits under yellow flag. Clint Bowyer wins the race off of pit row to take the lead. As the race continues, everyone is pushing for the lead. Gordon starts it off by taking over on lap 161. Menard takes his turn on lap 162. Reutimann has dreams of making this a career changing day, and takes the lead on lap 163. Earnhardt Jr. has a tire go down, and goes to the pits. Lap 168 sees Blaney’s run end, as he goes to the garage. Laps 180-184 see three different leaders; Hamlin, Bowyer, and finally Harvick takes over as the final pit stops happen.

As the crews frantically try to win the pit race, Harvick is able to come out still holding a close lead. There should be no more need to pit the rest of the race. Despite some furious efforts, Harvick holds on for the victory.
