Weird TV Show Endings
In honor of Schmidty. Instead of just making an observation in the random thread, I'll start a whole damn thread about it.
It's very weird watching the final season of One Day At A Time. Valerie Bertinelli appears to be living with 2 dudes and an old lady, while her mom is shacking up Howard Hessman and from time to time Schneider is working someplace fancy. I never watch it with the sound on, so I have no idea what's going on. What are some other longish running shoes that went weird near the end of their run? |

Scary how much of this I remembered even without Googling.
The old lady is her grandmother. One dude is her husband, the other dude is her brother-in-law (married to Mackenzie Phillips character, but Phillips once again flaked out and left the show a few eps into the final season, they just kept her husband around to finish out the year)

Rosanne probably ended on the mother of all tangents.

Ahh, OK. Now ODAAT makes more sense. Thanks Jon. I didn't even realize McKenzie was gone. I know she's in some of these closing eps, but not others.
Yes Roseanne went way off the fucking rails. Hard to believe it's even the same show in the last couple of years. |

Happy Days became pretty different by the end.

Oh, and Schneider I think was either dating a rich chick or working for a rich chick or something. His life choices are a focus of the last episode.

Not really an ending because I think they had a few seasons after, but I'll always remember Married With Children adding a new kid to the Bundy family, then dropping him a few episodes later. Not writing him out... just dropping him altogether, with no further explanation or reference (except for one episode years later where he shows up on the side of a milk carton and nobody notices).
