FBCB: Fab Five 2008-09
Three years ago, there was alot of hype about this great new set of recruits that amazingly decided to choose Central Florida as their destination for college basketball glory. After a disappointing loss in the Elite 8 in 2006, Central Florida rebounded to win back to back championships. Now in their senior year, Rob Nielsen, Tim Moungey, Danny Wilson, Vincent Bright, and Justin Provost are seeking their third straight championship.
Read below to catch up on the earlier years: Fab Five 2007-08 Fab Five 2006-07 Fab Five 2005-06

Roster Overview
Center, Danny Wilson Danny Wilson has been a powerful inside presence for the Golden Knights and has improved his scoring and rebounding three consecutive years. Last year, Danny averaged a double-double (16 pts, 10 rebounds) over the course of the season. He is a dominating force that most teams can't compete with. Of course, that's only when he;s actually on the floor. Wilson was suspended for academic reasons and missed last year's Final Four. He hopes to recover fromt hat embarassment with a strong senior year. Power Forward, Tim Moungey Moungey is another dominating presence inside for the GOlden Knights. Whike his scoring or rebounding, isn't quite as impressive as Wilson, Moungey has some versatile skills that help him stand out. Moungey's excellent three point shooting causes major matchup problems for just about any team in the country. He's also a ferocious post defender, and is a strong threat to steal the ball. Moungey's major drawbacks are his abysmal free throw shooting and propensity for fouling. Small Forward, Rob Nielsen Nielsen is probably the most complete all around player on the team. This guy can do it all. He's a strong ball handler, rebounder, defensive stopper, shot blocker, ball thief, and can even put up some points when needed. Nielsen's 11 steals in one game last season is an FBCA record. For next season, Nielsen will want to continue the improvement on his offensive game and cut down on the fouls. Shooting Guard, Vincent Bright Vincent Bright has always been a great shooter for the Golden Knights, and has led the team in scoring each season. What's so scary about last season is that he started to become more versatile and improved on several facets of his game. Bright's ball handling skills are now as good as almost anyone else in the country. If Provost went down, Bright would have no trouble filling in at the Point Guard spot. The major problem has always been Bright's defense and he still needs to improve on that. Point Guard, Justin Provost No player has been robbed of postseason awards more than Justin Provost. OVer the last three years, there has been no better ball handler in the country and last season was the best. Provost had 7.35 assists per turnovers last season, a truly incredible number. Provost is also a first-rate perimeter defender and ball thief. The only thing that has held him back is his scoring, which is pretty misleading. His shooting% shows that he is very efficient when he does shoot the ball. We brought in the #22 recruiting class in the nation, but most of them will be redshirted. The only significant bench players this season are SG Howard George and C Edward Keown, who have made decent contributions when called upon.

WIth this year's schedule, it's revenge time. Every team we've lost to before is on the schedule. All of the revenge requests from the awards snubs last year have been scheduled. Other than that, I tried to give us the most difficult schedule possible.

Unfortunately, William Scott has graduated so no chance for revenge, but we still beat up on Oklahoma State. After taking a 40-20 lead in the 1st half, we outscored the Cowboys 20-4 to close out the half with a stunning 60-24 lead. We were on autopilot the rest of the way. Each of the Fab Five had a solid game to start the season. Code:

Another blowout, this one led by the completely dominating performance of Justin Provost. Not only did provost score 25 points on 11-13 shooting (including 4-6 from 3pt), he also had his usual 8 assists and added 6 steals. Code:

We take revenge on the only team that beat us in postseason play. Each of the Fab Five scored in double digits and Provost led us in scoring once again. He seems to like shooting the ball this year. Code:

#10 Cincinnatti at #1 Central Florida
We were rerally struggling in this one, thanks mostly to some really poor ball handling (4 turnovers each from Nielsen and Moungey) and were down 42-33 at the half. Our shot at an undefeated season was definitely in jeapordy. With 13:43 left in the game, we were still down by 9. This is when Vincent Bright stepped up with back to back three pointers and a breakaway dunk, leading us on a 16-4 run to take a 1 pt lead with 8:27 left. It was back and forth for a few minutes until Cincinnatti went on a run to take a 68-62 lead with 3:11 left. Here's the rest of the game: Code:

By the way, this was the revenge game for Rob. Last year, he lost his spot on the 1st Team All American squad. John Shipman was the guy who took it from him. Rob definitely got revenge, holding him to 3 for 16 shooting. This was no small feat, as Shipman averages 25.6 points per game.

Ouch I had a dud that last game, but overall it's nice to see me tearing it up with a lot of steals and racking up a fair amount of points and rebounds.

We take revenge on Duke for the 101-94 loss in last season's opener. Provost is our leading scorer yet again, but I don't think I've ever seen that many turnovers from him. WIlson dominates inside as usual. Code:

Wisconsin-Milwaukee at #1 Central Florida
Wisconsin-Milwaukee is actually a pretty strong team in this universe, but this is a down year for them and we made them pay for agreeing to come to our house. Each of the Fab Five makes double digits and Bright has one of his best shooting performances of the season. Code:

Utah led throughout the game, taking a 44-32 lead at halftime thanks to being one of the few teams to outrebound us. We made several runs in the 2nd half, and with 1:11 left we were down 77-71 when this happened: Code:
