I know some people are gonna fry me for this....

But after two weeks of listening to Green Day American Idiot, I have to say this is my favorite cd of the last few years. It can't be played loud enough. I guess I just really enjoy it.

i think it's a pretty amazing album (certainly album of the year and possibly one of my favorite albums of all time), but i haven't said anything about it mostly because Ksyrup follows me around and mocks Green Day

I thought you were going to say the opposite. Everyone I know loves that CD and raves about it. Personally, I can't stand it. But I've never been a big Green Day fan. Not sure why you'd be worried about getting fried for liking it. It seems like everyone does.

I was a huge fan, but they lost me with Nimrod. I never picked up warning, but after hearing nothing but great reviews from friends of mine who had followed the same path, I'm planning on picking it up.

Kerplunk and Dookie were two of the best albums of the 90's, period.

Nimrod was a creative low-point for Green Day. Have to say I havn't listened to enough of American Idiot though I got it the day it came out, simply because I havn't burned it to MP3's and put it on my MP3 player yet. Might be time to remedy that tomorrow!

Hands down agree with cthomer5000 that Dookie and Kerplunk were two of the best discs of the 90's. I'd toss 1,039 Slapped in there too though. Lots of raw gems on there.

Warning. The title track riff was also a straight-up ripoff of "Picturebook" by the Kinks.

I liked Blvd. of Broken Dreams, thats been on the radio a lot. I didn't really like American Idiot though. I was thinking about giving it a spin when I got tired of Dogs Die in Hot Cars.

Totaly agree with you, after Dookie i stopped to listen to them (i must admit also that i started to listen more metal than punk rock that days too). I'll pick this new one to get back to my punk rock roots

What, you picked up that I'm not a fan? Hey, I gave them credit for that blank CD-R that's made to look llike the real thing idea they had. That should count for something, right?

That album's gotten great reviews. I've only heard the first single. Not my cup o' tea.

So I ignored "American Idiot" when it came out largely based off of not liking the title track that was in Madden that year. Fast forward to a couple years ago, when I gave the full album a try and it became my album of the year (for 2022). Last year, my older daughter got me into MCR's "Welcome to the Black Parade," which became my album of the year for 2023. The Kodos Awards run a little slow... Who knows what album from 2010 might win in 2024?!
