Rushmore - Romantic Chemistry

Romance is an important part of TV and movies, and all genres to one degree or another have it. But how much chemistry the romantic pairing has can really alter the believability of it.

So, what are the Mount Rushmore romantic chemistry?

For me, one has to be Moonlighting, and I'm thinking of old school Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn, attached in real life, and starred together in bunches of movies, often as each other's romantic interest quite convincingly as a result.

Awesome idea for a Rushmore. Will have to think about it a little.

I love William Powell and Myrna Loy in all the Thin Man movies (and others).

They had a Thin Man marathon on TMC...maybe NYE a couple years ago? Caught a couple of them, quite enjoyed them. Need to watch the others sometime.

I thought about Bogart and Bacall two, with their four films together all nice. And frankly, you could split Spencer Tracy off and Bacall off, leaving just Bogart and Hepburn from The African Queen and have another stellar chemistry. I think that's partly that Bogart and Hepburn are the clear best actor and actress of their generation.

I'm a little surprised we haven't see someone mention Emma Stone adn Ryan Gosling yet either.

Actually, I;m going to finish my top four with an oddball. Yeah, I;m doing Bogart and Bacall too. But for my 4th, Geoffrey Palmer and Judi Dench, in As Time Goes By.

EDIT: For those unfamiliar with the BBC series, they play two characters is severe love in teh Korean War, when he heads out to be stationed, and their letters are lost and they lose each other. They have separate lives, marriages, and families. She is a widow with a kid and her own company, he is writing a book, divorced, and no kids. They meet up again decades and decades later by happenstance when he used one of the secretaries from her temp company to help finish his book.

I was always surprised at how well Bill Murray and Johansson "worked" in Lost in Translation.
