The #1,#15,#30 TCY/FOF Dynasty

While waiting for TCY2 to come out (I hope ), I’ve decided to entertain myself by starting a new dynasty. I plan on taking the # 1, # 15, and # 30 high school recruits each year in TCY for 5 years and follow them through their careers in college and onto the NFL if they are drafted. Why # 1, # 15 and # 30 you ask? Not sure, just seemed like a decent cross section. I’ve never tried to do anything like this so we’ll see how it goes.. Feedback is welcome in any case..

All players are shown with ratings for each year (current/potential) if applicable.

2004 College Recruits

2004 #1 recruit – Brett McCormick, 6’2” 195 lbs QB – Cragford, Alabama

Brett is the # 1 ranked recruit in the country. He desires a very prestigious school with a strong academic reputation. Brett is heavily recruited throughout the season. He receives scholarship offers 12 schools overall including Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska and Texas. He narrows it down to Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan and Alabama. In the end Brett commits to Nebraska in week 9. He graduates from Mellow Valley High School with a 2.94 GPA completing 65.5% of his passes for 2724 yards, 23 TD’s and only 1 INT while earning All-Alabama Honors.

2004 #15 recruit – Earl Ramsey, 6’0” 189 lbs S – San Jose, California

Earl is the # 15 ranked recruit in the country, and the # 1 ranked S. He desires to stay close to home at a school with good academic emphasis. Earl is highly recruited, receiving scholarship offers from 8 schools including Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Iowa, and Air Force. He chooses to make visits to USC and a late offer from UCLA entices Earl to become a Bruin in a coup for UCLA . He graduates from Abraham Lincoln High School with a 3.64 GPA having recorded 83 tackles and 4.5 sacks and 10 interceptions in his senior year while earning All-California Honors.

2004 #30 recruit – Joe Galloway, 6’0” 179 lbs S – Raleigh, North Carolina

Joe is the #30 ranked recruit in the country, and the # 2 ranked S. He strongly wants a school with high prestige and would like a good academic school. Joe is strongly recruited having received scholarship offers from 12 schools including Georgia, Kansas State, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, and local favorites Wake Forest and North Carolina. He visits Ohio State, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan. The decision comes down to North Carolina and Wake Forest and in the end Joe decides on the Demon Deacons in week 8. He graduates Leesville Road High School with a 4.00 GPA having recorded 75 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 11 interceptions his senior year while earning All-North Carolina Honors.

2005 Season

2004 #1 recruit – Brett McCormick QB (26/83)– Nebraska
All-Nebraska High School Honors

Brett is redshirted his first year at Nebraska as Nebraska goes 11-2 and wins the Big 12 North Division, finishes ranked 3rd in the country and beats # 6Miami in the Rose Bowl. McCormick will be probably riding the bench next year as he has two 5th year seniors in front of him.

2004 #15 recruit – Earl Ramsey S (45/100)– UCLA
All-California High School Honors

Ramsey redshirted his first year as well. UCLA won the Pac 10 with a 10-2 record and finished the season ranked # 8 with a 27-24 defeat of # 7Utah in the Fiesta Bowl. Ramsey shows tremendous potential and should fight for a starting job next year.

2004 #30 recruit – Joe Galloway S (55/100) – Wake Forest
All-North Carolina High School Honors

Galloway also redshirted his first year. Wake Forest ended the season 3-8 good for 9th in the ACC. Galloway should be primed for a starting job next year as Wake’s secondary is pretty weak.

New 2005 Recruits

2005 #1 recruit – Geoff Ellison, 6’0” 229 lbs DE – Jackson, Mississippi

Geoff is ranked # 1 in the country in 2005. He would like to attend school close to home and academics are also important. He is very highly recruited as can be expected and get scholarship offers from 8 teams including Michigan, Miami, Florida, Florida State, and USC. He chooses to visit only Michigan and commits in week 7 to become a Wolverine. He graduates Provine High School with a 3.39 GPA having recorded 85 tackles and 13.0 sacks his senior year while earning All-Mississippi Honors.

2005 #15 recruit – Hardy Truman, 6’2” 184 lbs S – Aptos, California

Hardy is the # 15 ranked recruit and the # 2 ranked safety in the country this year. He would like to stay close to home at a college that has a good academic reputation. He is highly recruited, drawing offers from the likes of Alabama, Cal, UCLA, Kansas State, Florida State, USC and Wisconsin. He chooses visits to Kansas State, UCLA, Miami, Cal, and Wisconsin before deciding to stay close to home at UCLA in week 8. He graduates from Aptos High School with a 3.70 GPA while accumulating 77 tackles, 5.0 sacks, and 13 interceptions his senior year while earning All-California Honors.

2005 #30 recruit – Archie Montgomery, 6’4” 269 lbs DE – Edenton, North Carolina

Archie is the # 30 ranked recruit in the country and the # 7 ranked DE. He is all about a school with high prestige and if they have a few good classes, all the better. He is also highly recruited garnering scholarship offers from Alabama, UCLA, Florida, Miami, Oklahoma, and USC. He visits only Florida in Week 5 and immediately signs on the dotted line to become a Gator. He graduates from John A Holmes High School (seriously) with a 3.19 GPA while recording 80 tackles 15.0 sacks, and 3 interceptions his senior year while earning All-North Carolina Honors.

2006 Season

Continuing Players

2004 #1 recruit – Brett McCormick QB (26/83, 37/83)– Nebraska
All-Alabama Honors
In his red-shirt freshman year Brett surprisingly earns the start on the highly touted Cornhuskers team. He has a very efficient freshman season completing 63.3% of his passes for 2435 yards, 26 TD, and only 5 INT. Nebraska finishes the season 9-3 good enough for # 9 in the country and earns a Gator Bowl bid where they defeat # 18 Clemson 38-28.

2004 #15 recruit – Earl Ramsey S (45/100,75/100)– UCLA
All-California Honors
Ramsey got the nod at free safety to start his redshirt sophomore year. He developed extremely well and recorded 78 tackles and 5 INT’s for the Bruins who finished with a 10-2 record, # 5 in the nation while defeating an overmatched 52nd ranked Air Force squad 42-10 in the Sugar Bowl. The Bruins look for huge things from Ramsey in the upcoming years.

2004 #30 recruit – Joe Galloway S (55/100,63/100) – Wake Forest
All-North Carolina Honors
Galloway also got the start for a weaker Wake Forest team as free safety. He played pretty well but definitely had growing pains in the development side. He finished the season with 74 tackles and 4 INT’s for the #41 ranked 7-5 Demon Deacons who finished 7th in the ACC, good enough for a bowl bid, losing 59-6 to # 12 Tennessee in the Sun Bowl.

2005 #1 recruit – Geoff Ellison DE (47/81, ) – Michigan
All-Mississippi Honors
Geoff is redshirted his first year at Michigan as Michigan goes 7-5, 5th in the Big Ten and # 33 overall, while losing 42-24 to # 10 Texas in the Independence Bowl. Ellison will be probably riding the bench next year as he has a good 5th year senior and a highly touted sophomore in front of him.

2005 #15 recruit – Hardy Truman S (42/83, ) – UCLA
All-California Honors
Truman redshirted his first year as well. Hardy should earn a starting job next year and will form a formidable duo with teammate and 2004 # 15 recruit Earl Ramsey.

2005 #30 recruit – Archie Montgomery DE (45/99, ) – Florida
All-North Carolina Honors
Archie also redshirted his first year. Florida ended the season 11-2 and ranked # 4 in the country while loosing to # 1 Oklahoma 35-21 in the National Championship Game Orange Bowl. A loaded Florida team returns two extremely strong 5th year seniors at DE and a talented sophomore as well, so Montgomery will have to wait another year for significant starting time most likely.

New 2006 Recruits

2006 # 1 recruit – Artie Lynn, 6’1” 214 lbs QB – Albany, Georgia
Artie is the # 1 ranked recruit in 2006. He aspires to attend a school with good academics and that is close to home. Most experts think that Artie will attend Georgia. Artie is moderately recruited, receiving scholarship offers from 5 teams including UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Kansas State and Miami. He visits UCLA and Georgia before signing, as expected, with Georgia. Artie graduates from Westover High School with a 3.86 GPA after completing 64.5% of his passes while notching 1607 yards, 10 TD and 3 INT’s. He earns All-Georgia Honors.

2006 # 15 recruit – Sammie McGregor, 6’1” 271 lbs G – Huntington Park, California
Artie is the # 15 ranked recruit of 2006 and the # 2 ranked guard. He wants to attend a school with good academia and also close to home. Most experts think that Sammie will decide between USC and UCLA. Sammie is surprisingly lightly recruited, receiving scholarship offers from only 3 schools including Florida State, Louisville and USC. He visits USC and UCLA and USC eventually wins out with Sammie signing to become a Trojan in week 6. Sammie graduates from Huntington Park High School with a perfect 4.00 GPA and earns All-California Honors.

2006 # 30 recruit – Junior Thomason, 6’6” 302 lbs G – Columbia, Maryland
Junior is the # 30 ranked recruit of 2006 and the # 3 ranked guard. He wants a prestigious school that is close to home. Some experts think that Junior will attend Penn State. Junior also is lightly recruited as guards to not appear to be in demand this year. He gets scholarship offers from Arizona, Florida State, LSU, and Oklahoma. He decides to visit Oklahoma and immediately signs with them in week # 5. Junior graduates from Wilde Lake High School with a 2.62 GPA and earns All-Maryland Honors.

Summary:
Currently we have all three players from the 2004 class starting respectively for their teams. All players from the 2005 class were redshirted. We have a dynamic duo in safeties Hardy Truman and Earl Ramsey at UCLA. We have a freshman starter with Brett McCormick at Nebraska, so it should be fun to see what kind if number he puts up as he develops. So far no huge busts as well.

2007 Season

Continuing Players

2004 #1 recruit – Brett McCormick QB (26/83, 37/83, 57/83)– Nebraska
All-Alabama Honors

Brett again starts as a sophomore and lights it up for the 2007 National Championship Nebraska Cornhuskers who cap a 12-1 season with a 23-21 thriller over UCLA in the Orange Bowl. He completes 64.3% of his passes for 2393 yards, 18 TD’s and 6 INT’s for a passer rating of 170.9. He also earns Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 2nd Team QB Honors.

2004 #15 recruit – Earl Ramsey S (45/100, 75/100, 97/100)– UCLA
All-California Honors

Earl continues to develop at a considerable rate for the National Championship runner-up Bruins. He has a nice season with 83 tackles and 2 INT’s as teams throw away from him. He earns Pac 10 1st Team Safety Honors for his work.

2004 #30 recruit – Joe Galloway S (55/100, 63/100, 83/100) – Wake Forest
All-North Carolina Honors

Joe has another good year for the Demon Deacons recording 92 tackles and 4 INT’s. He is named All American Academic Safety, All ACC Academic Safety, and All ACC 1st team safety. Wake Forest moves up 1 spot to # 6 in the ACC, but down 8 spots nationally to #52 finishing 6-5, which is not good enough for a bowl birth.

2005 #1 recruit – Geoff Ellison DE (47/81, 54/80) – Michigan
All-Mississippi Honors

Geoff plays as a backup his redshirt freshman year, starting 4 games. He records 13 tackles and 4 sacks for the season. Michigan finishes the season horribly at 5-6, 9th in the Big Ten and #49 overall.

2005 #15 recruit – Hardy Truman S (42/83, 57/83) – UCLA
All-California Honors

Hardy starts 11 out of 12 games for the Bruins who finish the season as National Championship runners-up. He teams with 2004 #15 recruit Earl Ramsey and records 52 tackles and 4 INT’s.

2005 #30 recruit – Archie Montgomery DE (45/99, 59/99) – Florida
All-North Carolina Honors

Archie starts all 12 games for Florida his redshirt freshman year. He records 29 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Florida finishes the season 10-2, # 2 in the SEC and # 2 in the nation with a convincing 24-17 win over Clemson in the Rose Bowl.

2006 # 1 recruit – Artie Lynn QB (35/79, ) – Georgia
All-Georgia Honors

Artie is redshirted his first year at Georgia as Georgia goes 10-3, 1st in the SEC North and # 7 overall, while losing 17-10 to # 4 Wisconsin in the Fiesta Bowl. Artie will probably act as a backup next year as the Bulldogs starting QB, Van Leach returns.

2006 # 15 recruit – Sammie McGregor G (22/61, )– USC
All-California Honors

Sammie is redshirted his first year as well. Sammie may have trouble starting anytime in the near future as fellow 2006 classmate and #129 ranked prospect Glenn Farley (100 potential) and sophomore Leon Writt (100 potential) look to act as the Guards of the future for USC. USC finishes 9-3, 3rd in the Pac 10, and # 10 nationally while beating # 15 Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl 13-3.

2006 # 30 recruit – Junior Thomason G (14/100, ) – Oklahoma
All-Maryland Honors

Thomason impresses everyone at camp and gets the starting nod as a freshman for Oklahoma at right guard. He has 14 key run blocks out of 38 opportunities and allows 10 sacks for the season. Oklahoma finishes the season a disappointing 6-5 after winning the National Championship a year ago. They finish 4th in the Big 12 South ranked #35 nationally and not earning a bowl bid.

New 2007 Recruits

2007 # 1 recruit – Paul Alto, 6’0” 193 lbs QB – Martinez, California
Paul is the highly touted #1 recruit in 2007. He desires the most prestigious school he can find. Oklahoma and UCLA are front runners according to the experts. As expected Paul is highly recruited garnering scholarship offers from 7 schools including UCLA, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Stanford. He chooses to visit Stanford, UCLA, and Florida State before going the academic route in a coup for Stanford in week 5. Paul graduates from Alhambra High School with a 3.11 GPA, completing a mediocre 55.1% of his passes for 996 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT. He went 48-0 as a starter for his career in high school which earns him All-California and High School All American Honors.

2007 # 15 recruit – Terry Bravo, 6’0” 201 lbs OLB – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Terry, the #15 recruit of 2007, desires a school that is high in academics and is close to home. Experts feel that Penn State will have strong appeal to Terry. Terry receives scholarship offers from 6 schools including UCLA, Colorado, Florida, Pittsburgh, Florida State, and Oklahoma. He chooses to visit Florida State, Texas, Pittsburgh, and hometown Temple and commits to Pittsburgh in week 9. Terry graduates from Germantown High School with a 3.67 GPA notching 118 tackles, 13 sacks, and 4 INT’s his senior year while earning All-Pennsylvania Honors.

2007 # 30 recruit – Christian Collier, 6’4” 268 lbs DT – Mariposa, California
Christian is the #30 ranked prospect in 2007. He is a homebody and desires to stray close to home at a prestigious school. Looks like USC and UCLA will be competing for another prospect. Interest is strong in Collier as he receives scholarship offers from over 10 schools including the likes of UCLA, Cal, Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee and Texas. He chooses to visit Texas, Cal, UCLA, USC and Virginia. He eliminates USC and UCLA in week 7 and Cal in Week 9 making his choice come down to Texas and Virginia before narrowing it down to only Texas in Week 12. Christian is convicted of a DUI in week 13 as Texas shocks everyone and pulls their scholarship offer, leaving him with no offers and no visits left in week 13. Christian graduates from Mariposa High School with a 2.58 GPA, while recording 69 tackles and 12.5 sacks while earning All-California Honors. Having been left in limbo, he receives no scholarship offers and takes a job at the local gas station deciding not to go to college.

Summary: Brett McCormick continues to light it up for the Cornhuskers and may make a run at the heisman next year. Earl Ramsey looks like the real deal for UCLA and one wonders if he will come out as a junior? The 2006 recruiting class looks fairly weak as a whole and 2007 had it's first player to end his career with graduating senior Christian Collier left without a scholarship. 2007 marks the end of the incoming recruits, so all the players are in. Now it's time to see how they all turn out!

Nebraska has a strange season, finishing 5-7 overall, but 5-3 in the Big 12, good for first place in the Nig 12 North. Archie has a very good game logging 4 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

2006 # 1 recruit – Artie Lynn QB (35/79, 64/79, ) – Georgia
All-Georgia High School Honors

Artie rides the bench for his redshirt freshman year and sees limited action going 2-7 with 1 TD and 1 INT. He should get the start next year as 5th yr senior Van Leach is graduating. Georgia finishes 7-5 and 3rd in the SEC North earning a bid to the Holiday Bowl where they lose to # 26 Marshall 38-18, finishing the season ranked # 38. Lynn does not play in the game.

2006 # 15 recruit – Sammie McGregor G (22/61, 59/61, )– USC
All-California High School Honors

Sammie surprises everyone and earns the starting job as a redshirt freshman for the Trojans. He starts all 12 games and records 21 key run blocks and allows 10 sacks. USC finishes the season ranked # 18, going 8-4 and 3rd in the Pac 10. They earn a bid to the Peach Bowl where they lost to #14 Virginia Tech 29-14. 2007 # 1 recruit – Paul Alto QB (30/72, ) – Stanford
All-California High School Honors
All American High School Honors

Paul gets redshirted his first year and will likely not start next year as 3 5th year seniors wait in front of him. Stanford has an excellent season finishing 10-2, 2nd in the Pac 10 behind National Champion UCLA. They get a bid from the Cotton Bowl, where they defeat # 6 Texas 13-10 on a 37 yd field goal with 0:00 left on the clock. Stanford finishes the year ranked # 11.

2007 # 15 recruit – Terry Bravo OLB (18/100, )– Pittsburgh
All Pennsylvania High School Honors

Terry is redshirted his first year at Pitt. He will be in a battle to start next year as a strong 5th yr senior and highly touted redshirt sophomore wait in front of him. He seems to have loads of potential though. Pitt finishes 9-3, 3rd in the Big East and defeats #24 Tulane in the Fort Worth Bowl. Pitt ends the season ranked 15th.

2007 # 30 recruit – Christian Collier, 6’4” 268 lbs DT
Did Not Attend College

Summary: McCormick seems to have hit a wall in his development, but the two safeties of the 2004 recruiting class, Earl Ramsey and Joe Galloway, continue to produce. Archie Montgomery busts out for the 2005 recruits and looks like the real deal. The verdict is still out on the 2006 recruiting class as none of them seem to be world class as of yet. Next year the 2004 recruits become seniors and then it's on to the pros..maybe.
