Official College Football Week 13 Thread

Fun game between Houston and Memphis earlier.

Washington looking great early in the Apple Cup, though Washington State is finally showing some signs of life.

Iowa hammering Nebraska, 20-3.

Big plays are the name of the game for Iowa. 75 yard TD run, 77 yard TD pass, and a 56 yard run.

Imagine if the Hawkeyes had showed up for the first two-thirds or so of the season. They might have had quite a team, very possibly a New Year's Day bowl.

Defense really improved.

Great to beat the Bugeaters.

Huskies got off to about as good a start as we could have hoped for. Kudos to the Cougars for not quitting, but that game was basically decided in the 1st quarter. Now it's on to face either USC or Colorado. I'd prefer the Buffs just because they're rated higher, but either way it will be a good test.

Not to mention USC is the more scary team

Good win by Mizzou today, even without Crockett. Nate Strong was great as was Lock. Defense actually showed up today.

From a talent perspective, yes. From a performance perspective, Colorado has been very impressive. Plus I'd love to see Washington get a little payback on the Trojans. I like Petersen in a rematch when it comes to the coaching staffs.

Western Michigan did the best they could do, completely eviscerating Toledo like nobody has done this year. I don't think they can hang with Bama, but I'm completely convinced they deserve serious consideration for one of the other 3 spots.

Defense was likely just hitting a stride considering most of them just started playing games a few weeks ago due to all the injuries. We seriously had high level HS players starting at times. Great for experience, but lousy for results in the SEC.

Before I say this: I don't care who wins this game.

The refs are allowing the Ohio State defense to play incredibly physical with the Michigan receivers so far and are not allowing it the other way around.

Maybe. I saw 1 call for sure that was missed on PI that should have been called on OSU. I am sure it will come back around.

I'm more worried about the normal conservative play calling we are falling back into after the first drive and stall.

I have no idea what Peppers will be as a pro, but he's probably the most intriguing prospect I've seen in a while.

Barrett's regression this season is disturbing. He was really bad that half. Also, why did Meyer kick it to Peppers? That's just a terrible decision. I also don't understand why the game was delayed 10 seconds to get Harbaugh back to the 35. He spent more time on the field that half than OSU's offense.

Yeah, as much as I hate to admit it, he has regressed in the passing game especially.
Lots will say it is the receivers fault for not getting open, and that is partially correct. Others will say it is the line not giving him that great of pass protection and that is also partially correct. Maybe it is both. But, I've watched every single game he has played and he has gone backwards.
I said it earlier this year in response to someone mentioning he would be a high draft pick next year. No...no he won't. I said then that he wouldn't declare and I believe that even more now. He will be back next year no matter the outcome of this game, a possible BIG and playoff/bowl games. He isn't ready.

about time they threw a flag on harbaugh, and his whining tactics. guy has spent more time on the field than the osu offense.

Despite his success and Heisman candidate qbs Meyer doesn't exactly have a history of developing qbs.

A L'ville loss will, in my opinion, hurt Clemson, A LOT. It should drop them below Washington.

Kentucky +26.5 was one of the easy plays of the day, but I certainly didn't expect them to win it outright.

That's been the same both ways. Barrett can't find anyone to throw to because half of his receivers are being held down the field.

Please.
Clemson has still beat more top 25 teams than Washington has played and that number is going to increase with GT and Pitt wins today.

Now I would LOVE to see Clemson go in as a 4 seed and play Bama in Atlanta in the first round. But it won't happen . Despite my wallets pleas.

If Washington beats USC/Colorado their best win is better than Clemson's....

And only loss is to a currently top 12 team..

Shame on me for questioning JT. That was a crazy intense game. I'm not sure the best team won but I'll take it. The Michigan D is a bitch, they just got worn down in the 4th.

Looking at the previous week's playoff rankings:
I'm looking for the 5 top 25 teams Clemson has beat before today to make that statement true? or even 4?

Washington wins over Utah, Stanford, WSU and the loss to USC.

Clemson wins over Louisville, Auburn, and FSU.

Also Clemson didn't beat Pitt so they don't count as a victory over the top 25 even if they move up . Georgia Tech isn't getting votes in the top 25 before today so I'm not sure beating unranked Georgia is gonna make a big difference. I will give you WSU falls out of the top 25 this week though.

They will both control their own destinies, pretty clearly, in my opinion.

I know everyone is looking for ways to get multiple Big Ten teams in, but I feel like a Penn St. or Wisconsin is going to have a tough time justifying it unless Clemson or Washington lose their title games. And then, I think you still have to look at a potential two loss Oklahoma as a conference champion. Politically, leaving out computable, 2-loss teams from the PAC/ACC/B12 (if it gets to that point) seems like it would be hard to justify to a lot of folks and markets.

Nothing about OSU's performance today helps with the "eye test." That team looks like they'd get clobbered by any of the non-Big10 contenders.

I had to do a double take at the final score of Pitt-Syracuse.

OSU and Michigan are clearly top 4 teams, but I think only one of them makes the playoffs even if MSU beats State Penn today.

Questioning Barrett is fine. I do it. He has regressed in his passing game I think. I still don't think he will declare.

The best team won though.

And Quick, what do you want the eyeball test to show you against the #3 team? Should OSU have won by 21 or more? Then you or others would argue that Michigan was overrated. It is a rivalry game between 2 top teams with LOTS to play for. Its not USC/ND rivalry game with nothing to play for. Spare me the eyeball test argument and accept the win. It was a good game between 2 very good teams and Urban made a ballsy call at the end that could have gone either way.

Again, the best team won today and overcame 2 missed FG's, played good D, struggled in the air (nothing really that new this season) but won the ground game and in the end, wanted it more.

You're not taking this away from them or me.

Go Bucks!

You're really splitting hairs. Plus, they've already penalized UW for that atrocious non-con schedule, as they should. It won't happen.

Emotions run high in these things, but I'll just say I think it's silly to say the 'best team won' in a game that goes to double OT. By definition, a game that goes to overtime is close enough that neither side can clearly say they were the best.

Ohio State made the most plays when they needed to. That's what matters. They deserved to win the game, but it's important not to go overboard with it. As for Michigan, an OT loss on the road beats the heck out of a 4 TD loss at home(last year). They're on the right path. Most important thing is they've made The Game matter again.

Coastal Carolina ended its "limbo" season with a 26-7 win over Hampton. They finish 10-2 which is pretty incredible given they are down to their 7th QB, a graduate intern from the baseball program. Hopefully this will prepare them for their first season in the Sun Belt next year

I'm admittedly a biased pro-Buck source, but they beat the #3 team in the country, regardless of how ugly a victory it was. OSU will likely finish the season with three wins over year-end Top 10 teams in Michigan, Wisconsin and Oklahoma. That's three more than Washington & Clemson combined.

It's definitely a black mark against Ohio State that they won't play in a conference title game, but IMO their resume is still more impressive than Clemson, with a home loss to Pitt and an ACC cakewalk over irrelevant S Carolina, and Washington, who lost at home to the only current Top 20 team they played.

Minnesota had a real chance against Wisconsin until Leidner turned back into a pumpkin in the second half. 7/12, 176 total yards, 2 TD, 0 INT first half had Minnesota up 17-7. 2/13, 33 total yards, 0 TD, 4 INT in the second half. 10 straight incompletions with 4 picked off. 31-17 Wisconsin and counting.
