What world are you living in that Brady gets more grief than Peyton does?

In my experience, Brady is still golden from his early career success, whereas Peyton has always had to deal with the "choker" label and a sub. 500 playoff record. I've rarely ever heard Brady get the blame for a loss, even in the Super Bowl where he threw it too high to Welker.

You're probably right to an extent; it's the negative Boston media that I'm probably mostly replying to and they aren't here.

For what it's worth, though, Manning hasn't won a Super Bowl since Spygate

I havent quite figured out why Manning's defenses always seem to underachieve. There was no reason at all the Broncos should have been so poor on defense this year with the talent they have on that side of the ball. I sometimes wonder if the team doesnt depend on him too much and overlook certain other important aspects of the game.

Bellichek isnt the type of coach to overlook one side of the ball but I do wonder if Manning hasnt been as fortunate with his coaches.

I would love to have more information on the different practice schedules on the Pats vs Broncos/Colts and if any of it has to do with time allocated to different areas of the team.

I know 43 points is pretty much indefensible but I thought the Broncos D showed up well enough considering how poorly they were left in position. They certainly did not let Lynch smash thru them at all.

I mean 16 of the points were scored without the D on the field. Then you had at least 2 FG-range (or close enough) turnovers and then sprinkle in the 4th down & onside kick non-successes and I'm not sure we could expect a whole lot more with no Von Miller to help the pass rush. Oh and add to it the 3 & outs early on where they barely could catch their breath.

This game was on the Broncos O (and I guess special teams to an extent) for the most part. And their inability to stand up to the intensity of the Seahawks D was the real difference in the end.

the broncos defense kept them in the game early, it was 100% thier offenses fault for putting them in horrible positions, and for leading directly to 9 points. that more then they scored themselves. the bronco D didnt cave in till later once they knew the game was over (after the KR TD) and lost morale

Manning's only won when hes had a healthy Bob Sanders. just like Farve only won because Ishmail had the best ST game in SB history

The Broncos D wasn't particularly good and don't forget the injuries to key players, but you give up a TAINT and a ST TD and your odds of winning any Super Bowl are probably nil.

Oooh that would be a great ballot proposal. Sort of a "fighting words" provision.

Teams that get a pick-6 are now 12-0 in Super Bowls, so the odds are exactly nil for now

I'll give you Bama, though they were on the downward slide. uGA was not good until 97. Each of those years, UT circled one game, Florida, and they lost it year after year.

I don't know if he presses or what, but he seems to come up short in big games.

I don't know, I feel like someone big and actually athletic like, say, Vince Wilfork could run circles around him

Haha!

It is actually well done and I like how he goes into how plays announcers consider unimportant are actually very important.

I am sure each team the loses a close game could come up with the same type of video though.

My dad showed me this video tonight. I'm glad someone else posted this (I didn't want to be all sour grapes ). While the majority of it is bullshit, the only things that really caught my eye were the two clock issues late in the game - Seattle getting 50+ seconds before the 4th down play, and the 49ers getting only 35-ish seconds and actually having a delay of game penalty called on them. These seem to be fairly egregious errors, and it makes me wonder how often things like that happen over the course of a football game. If the play clock isn't consistent, it'd go a long way toward explaining the clock management issues the 49ers (and several other teams, apparently) have.

Claiming there was a conspiracy to get Seattle into the Super Bowl is about as stupid a claim as I think I've ever heard. The 49er brand HAS to be infinitely bigger than Seattle's, if only because of the '80s.

Dola - the second of the clock issues from the video above - the part where the 49ers apparently didn't get a full play clock - can be explained by the game clock being stopped temporarily after Kaepernick ran out of bounds. The play clock starts immediately, so that claim is also baseless. Still no explanation on the Seahawks getting almost a minute on their 4th down try, though. The NFL has said the play clock was reset, but has offered no explanation as to why.

Edit: Source.

I don't see an NFL offseason thread and too lazy to start one, so I will just put this here:

Nick Fairley's physique under fire again, this time from Warren Sapp | MLive.com

Seriously wish Sapp would shut the fuck up already. This is like the 3rd or 4th time he has come out in public to throw another lineman under the bus (in addition to his comments regarding Golden and the U).

Dude...go away. Nobody cares what the hell you have to say about anything.

Some stuff from the "Behind the Bets Podcast"

Orleans Casino lost 50k on safety
Also lost 25k when Tarvaras Jackson attempted a pass.
Overall Vegas action was about 119m.
Books made about 19m on game, could have been bad if Denver won.

To answer this question I would really need to see the previous play. After the ball is dead the 40 second clock is started. Times when there are scrums with players or the ball is not able to be set on the ground by the umpire before the play clock hits 20, the referee has the option by rule to pump the play clock (one arm pump) which would tell the play clock operator to reset the clock to 25. This would account for your 50+ seconds. I cannot be 100% certain this was the reason because I would have to see the entire sequence of events of the previous play.
