Sports Events You WISH You Could've Attended
For me there is only one, and it's probably not as sexy a pick as we'll see by any means, but for me, a boxing enthusiast, I would've loved to be in the crowd to see "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler take on Thomas "the Hitman" Hearns.
Three rounds of absolute carnage. It was more like a street fight then a boxing match. To think, 165 punches in 180 seconds. That's unreal. Hearns breaks his hand and keeps punching. Just unreal. The entire spectacle of it even comes across on TV well. Whenever I see it on ESPNC I'll make sure to watch it because it's that good. Anyway, what about you guys? |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNGBp6SeKgM As a boxing fan as well, it's hard to top Hagler-Hearns. I'll just go with something more recrnt, though, and say I would have loved to have attended Gatti-Ward I. |

Well played, Sabby. And yeah Gatti-Ward I was awesome to see on TV but would've been even better live.

Tough to choose just one...I know I would love to go back and see some of the oldtime baseball guys hit. Williams, Ruth, Mays, DiMaggio, Mantle.

Off the top of my head, I'd go with Ken Daneyko's final game in the NHL. It was the seventh game of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, which the Devils won over the (Mighty) Ducks. That series was back-and-forth, and even though I'm a big Devils fan, I would've been happy even if the Ducks had won instead. I really wanted to be part of that crowd wishing Daneyko farewell as he was on the ice for the game's final shift.
I would not have been one of the assholes booing as J.S. Giguere collected his well-deserved Conn Smythe Trophy, though.

Two immediately obvious ones for me: Game 7 of this year's Stanley Cup in Raleigh, and at The Pit in Albuquerque on April 4, 1983 when State won the national championship in basketball.

2005 Champions League Final, Liverpool comesback from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan in penalties. Or any game in Edmonton during this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2004 ALCS RedSox vs Yankees game 5 Fenway Park..
14 innings, a walk off hit by Ortiz and the absolute turning point of the series.. With everyone knowing Schilling would be pitching next, this game put the fear in the Yankees that something awful might be happening.. Best game in the series that will always be remembered as the greatest CHOKE job ever in sports.. |

The day Ron Dayne broke the career rushing record. I was offered a ticket for that game, but turned it down so that I could go hunting.

I don't know. I was at the Dodgers' first postseason win since 1988 in the '04 division series, when Lima pitched a CG SO. That was an intense experience, and one I wouldn't have traded for anything.
Seeing Maddux toss 6 1/3 no-hit innings against the Padres Friday night is another game I'm always going to remember. That was just special to see. Would it be cool to have seen Game 1 of the 1988 World Series? Absolutely. Would I trade one of the games I've been to for that experience? There, I'm not so sure. |

I am a bigger College Football and College Hoops fan than anything else, but something that I'd love have seen was....
Trinidad & Tobago in their World Cup Qualifying Playoff Home-and-Home victory over Bahrain. The deciding match was played in Bahrian, but wouldn't it have been cool to have seen such a tiny country qualify for the biggest tournament in the world in person? What a atmosphere... Nothing in American sports can compare to this I'm afraid to say, except maybe the '80 Olympic Hockey Team, and even that was a novelty sport in comparison to how most of the rest of the living world feels about futbol.
