Highlighted the important part. On the field, Puig is a douche. I don't know if it's even intentional, but his antics are ridiculous. Just because it's tame for him doesn't mean that it's ok.

For the record, I think his antics are hilarious and I hope he keeps doing it.

I don't see any issues with that Puig situation. If you don't like it, get him out. He spotted you two strikes. It shouldn't be that hard to get one more from there.

Toss in the extra 5-6 from the short porch (and that's before considering whether he'll swing for that fence a little more) and you've got over 20 even assuming no more returning power.

Assuming healthyish seasons (let's use 130 games as a cut-off there) I like him going for 20+ in at least 2 of the next 3 years.

A little over a fifth of the way through the season and Ellsbury is rocking 1 HR.

Was going to make more fun of him, but other than that I suppose he's hitting around his career averages. SB's only at 10 right, so it's not like he's flying around the basepaths, but then again that's not necessarily his fault if he's not given the green light.

He's actually hitting slightly better this year. His Batting Average, OBP, and SLG are all higher than last year's (so far) -.298/.355/.426 compared to .306/.369/.440 so far this season (112 OPS+ last season to 124 OPS+ this season).

Though yes, he isn't running as much.

Charlie Sheen summed it up, well, interestingly:

What he was referring to was that Johnny Cueto today became the first pitcher since 1914 to open the season with 9 straight starts of at least 7 IP and 2 runs or fewer.

Not to mention he currently leads all of the majors in ERA, IP, Ks, CG, SHO, H/9, WHIP, WAR and about five more crazy advanced saber numbers.

I picked Cueto to win the Cy Young last year... barring injury, looks like I was a year too early.

Tanaka has obviously lived up the hype. Jose Dariel Abreu is proving to be one of the best values of the summer though. They got him for like 60m total and he looks to be crushing baseballs.

Greinke's got 8 right now to start this year and 15 straight going back to last year.

Cool thing that Blue Jays guest services will do if you catch a HR ball at a game.

You give them the ball and you information and they will send it back with this sheet and autographed by the player.

The horrible string of injuries for the Rangers continues. Prince Fielder is going to miss his first game in 547 starts. He's getting an injection for a neck injury.

via ESPN ...

Braves had 6 hits today, giving them a total of 316 through their 1st 41 games. That's the fewest hits they've had in the 1st 41 games of a season since 1988, when they had 311. That team finished 54-106 (.338 win pct).

Were they updating the Red Sox headlines during that outage? I thought they pre-worked those headlines for seemless transition from one Red Sox headline to the next. Somebody's getting fired.

I'm assuming it was about the pitching. Ventura and Duffy have been a breath of fresh air. If we could just get Guthrie to keep the ball in the ballpark, the boys in blue would have an incredible starting five.

Amazing stuff by Alex today. Huge hitting day and he's turned in three web gems this series. I saw a stat where, since his transition to the outfield, he has 18 more assists than any other outfielder in baseball. That's Bo Jackson crazy from a defensive perspective.

Irrational biased rant:

I hate Colorado. It is total bullshit that there is a baseball park where certain pitches do not work as well as they in every other park. I'm sure that is the main reason for the ridiculous home/away splits with the Rockies hitters: BA 469/171, 552/247, team OPS 975/711.

That is all..

In case you're wondering, 8 times since 1985, a player has hit over .400 at home. 3 of the 8 are Rockies (Walker, Galarraga, and Cirillo). Cirillo hit .240 on the road his year.

Also, in 2004, Barry Bonds hit .412 with 26 HR, 115 BB and 25 K. He also missed 12 home games.

25 teams have hit over .300 at home since 1980. 11 of these are the Rockies.

Meanwhile, only 1 player has hit over .400 on the road in the last 30 years. Any guesses.?
