December 26th, 2010 Seattle Seahawks at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) Matt Hasselbeck puts together a solid, but unspectactular performance in beating the Buccaneers 14-10 today. Hasselbeck did not turn over the ball today which usually gives a team a chance to win, and the Hawks defense won the battle of defenses. Although the Buccaneers had arguably the better field position throughout the game as the Seahawks had nearly have of their possessions start at their own 20 or worse, it was the Bucs that were forced to come back with long fields in the final 5 minutes of the game that resulted in an interception and a failed 4th down gamble. The key drive for the Seahawks was a 13 play, 8:10 time of possession, 96 yard drive that saw the Hawks get 7 1st downs and only required two 3rd down conversions of 1 and 3 yards to keep it alive. The drive was capped off by a 6 yard Marshawn Lynch TD run. January 2nd, 2011 St Louis Rams (-2) at Seattle Seahawks What appears to be Matt Hasselbeck's final day as a Seahawk did not go the way Matt would have liked. His 2 interceptions and 1 fumble near his own goal posts led to 2 Ram TDs in a 27-21 loss to St Louis today. In a game that saw both teams combine for 3 first downs and under 150 yards in the 1st quarter, the very last play seen Rams Chris Vovan block Jon Ryan's punt in the end zone and recover it for the TD giving the Rams a 7-0 lead. Hasselbeck and the Seahawk offense seemed to awaken after that and took the very next drive 76 yards for and capped it off with a Leon Washington 1 yard run for a TD to tie it. It remained tied at the half. Early in the 3rd quarter, Lofa Tatupu forced a Steven Jackson fumble and DE Dexter Davis recovered it at the SEA 40. A few minutes later Hasselbeck hits WR Golden Tate for a 17 yard TD and a 14-7 lead. The Rams made it 14-10 after a Josh Brown FG and got the ball back early in the 4th quarter after Olindo Mare's 48 yard FG attempt fell short. After a key 52 yard run by Kenneth Darby to the SEA 3, Steven Jackson punched it in from 3 yards out and St Louis takes the lead 17-14. It stayed like that until Hasselbecks fumble sets up a Keith Toston 1 yard run on 3rd down and the Rams lead is extended to 24-14. Brown added a 45 yard FG and the Seahawks fans did get to see a 86 yard kickoff return by Ben Obomanu go for a TD on the last play of the game, but Seattle ends the season on a losing note. The Super Bowl Game Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts (-10) The Indianapolis Colts strike early when RB Donald Brown scampers 44 yards for a touchdown on the Colts first possession. The Green Bay Packers respond with an 83 yard drive capped off with a Greg Jennings TD catch for 8 yards from Aaron Rodgers to tie the score. We are 6 minutes in and the Offenses have put up 163 yards. Peyton Manning moves the Colts into FG range on his second possession and Adam Vinatieri is good from 49 yards out and a 10-7 Colts lead with under 5 left in the 1st quarter. The first punt of the game takes place on the final play of the 1st quarter as the Packers Tim Masthay drives the Colts to thier own 3 yard line. The 1st quarter ends with over 250 yards of combined offense. With the Colts starting in poor field position, Manning hits Alfred Wynn with a short pass but Wynn fumbles and Packers Clay Matthews recovers and returns the fumble for a 34 yard touchdown. Green Bay now leads 14-10 early in the 2nd quarter. After the Colts get the ball on the kickoff and march the ball downfield setting up a 3rd and Goal from the Packers 2, but Packer S Morgan Burnett stuffs the 3rd down attempt and Donald Brown runs for a 2 yard loss setting up a 21 yard FG. Green Bay leads 14-13, 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Rodgers and the Green Bay offense cannot move the ball after the Colts kickoff and are forced to punt after a 3 and out. A good run back by Corwin Goudh sets up the Colts at the Green Bay 42. The Colts move the ball into the Red Zone but have to settle for another Vinatieri 34 yard FG but get the lead 16-14 with 6 minutes left in the half. The Colts force another Green Bay 3 and out but a Colts penalty on the punt forces them to start deep in thier own end at the 15. The Green Bay defense then forces the Colts into their first 3 and out and the Colts are punting from their own 21. The Packers get penalized on the punt and will start at their own 29. The Packers get a couple of first downs and are at the Colts 33 at the 2 minute warning. The Packers can't get any further and have to settle for a Mason Crosby 48 yard FG and take back the lead 17-16 with 1:06 left in the half. The Packers force another 3 and out and are able to run out the clock to end the half, a half which seen nearly 500 yards of offense including Peyton Mannings 191 yards passing. To start the second half, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers moves Green Bay to mid field before the drive stalls, but Tim Masthay's punt rolls out of bounds at the Colts 1. Manning is able to move the Colts into better field position including a 22 yard pass to Dallas Clark but they are forced to punt from mid field, like the Packers, Pat McAfee's punt rolls out at the Green Bay 2. On the very first play, Aaron Rodgers connects with Greg Jennings on a short pass that Jennings breaks free on, he out runs the defense for a 98 TD and Green Bay extends their lead to 24-16 with just over 5 minutes played in the 3rd quarter. The Colts get the ball back and are forced into a 4th and 1 gamble from their own 45. Manning hits FB Jose Broadhurst with a short pass good for 8 yards and a 1st down. On the next play, Manning looks to the end zone for WR Anthony Gonzalez, but he is picked off by CB Pat Lee and a touchback. The Packers get a couple of first downs but are forced into a Tim Masthay punt which again pins the Colts, this time at the Colts 2. The 3rd quarter ends with the Colts on 1st and 10 at thier own 24. Aaron Rodgers is now 274 yard passing while Manning is 239 yards. Total combined offense is 714 yards. The Colts do get one more first down but are forced to punt, McAfee pushes the Packers back to thier own 13 but McAfee gets injured on the play. Will this be critical later in the game? Rodgers then moves the ball after 5 first downs to the Colts 8, when he pegs a short pass to James Jones for the 8 yard TD. Green Bay now leads 31-16 with 5:50 left in the game. After Manning and the Colts get a 1st down, Manning throws the screen pass to Anthony Gonzalez, he breaks a couple of tackles and takes it for a 62 yard TD. Green Bay's lead is cut to 31-23 with 4:22 left. Rodgers and company get one first down and are forced into a 3rd and 6 situation, Rodgers looks long for Greg Jennings and hits him for a critical 20 yards and 1st down to the Colts 44 at the 2 minute warning. Indy is out of time outs, but force the Packers to punt. Masthay's punt forces the Colts to start at their own 13 with 0:49 left and needing a TD and 2 point convert. On the first play, Manning hits Austin Collie for 7 yards to the IND 20 with 0:28 left. Manning spikes the ball with 0:23 left. Manning then hits WR Reggie Wayne for a 10 yard pass to the IND 30 with 0:03 left. One last chance for the Colts, Manning drops back to pass, tosses a medium pass to WR Austin Collie, the pass falls incomplete....... The Green Bay Packers are the 2010 Super Bowl Champs. Aaron Rodgers in named the Super Bowl MVP with his 25 for 39, 361 yards, 3 TDs and 0 Ints. March 2011- Seattle Seahawks Off-Season The Seahawks prepare for the Free Agency and the Draft. To complete our 53 man roster we have the following needs and we will Draft 7 players and sign 4 UFA's. QB UFA QB Draft TE Draft G UFA G Draft T Draft K UFA DT UFA DT Draft DT Draft DT Draft At QB we only have 2nd year Zac Robinson. Robinson was signed as a free agent at the beginning of the 2010 season. So we need a decent starting QB and a QB we can develop, mostly like a first rounder. We will be selecting 4th overall. At TE we already have a stud in John Carlson and 2nd year TE Anthony McCoy, so we will draft at that position. At G, we only have 2 signed and require 2 more. We have Mike Gibson and Max Unger signed. So we could use one more starter via UFA and a draft to develop. At T, we have 3 signed and need one more, with Russell Okung, Stacy Andrews and Sean Locklear signed, we can go with a draft pick here. At K, we did not resign Olindo Mare and we are going to get one via Free Agency. At DT, we have only Kentwan Balmer signed, need 1 more starter via Free Agency and we will draft 3 others to develop. We are in good shape for free agency, with over $42.0 M available in Cap space and roughly $9.0M allocated for the draftees, $7.0M held aside for an emergency buffer in case of injuries during the season, we are left with $26.5 M to sign 4 players in Free Agency. |

May 2011-Free Agency and the Draft We are now into May, I still have to sign a QB and get ready to fill the 53 man roster with draft picks. I have an outstanding offer to QB Chris Redman for $5.69 M over 3 years and waiting for a decision. May 2011- The Seattle Seahawks sign QB Chris Redman to a 3 year, $5.69 M deal. The 34 year old Redman was 109 for 176 and a 61.9% completion rate for the Atlanta Falcons in 2010. He also had 5 TD passes while being intercepted 3 times with a final QB rating of 81.9. 2011 Draft I am looking for a QB in the 1st round, after that it will be a T or a G, then after that it will be best player available. After evaluating the 15 QBs I interviewed based on NFL scouts rankings, my scouts assessment and the combines. The Top 5 QBs are as follows and I draft 4th. Lance Strong Alex Woo Jerald McWilliams Mo Porter Claude Norton Lance Strong was by far the most popular choice, but Alex Woo could be an interesting pick as my scout feels he is Very Underrated. Miami Dolphins pick 1st and select QB Lance Strong from Northern Arizona. Washington Redskins pick 2nd and select CB Curtis Prior from Oregon State. San Fransisco 49er's select 3rd and select RB Jorge Moss from Evansville. We are up next: The Seattle Seahawks select QB Alex Woo. The 22 year old from Southern Mississippi is 6'1" and 203 lbs and was born in San Fransisco, Calif. Kansas City Chiefs select 5th and pick DT Wade Kerr out of Southern Mississippi. In Round 2, The Seattle Seahawks select LT Desmond Dirks from William and Mary. The 6'4" 304 pounder was born in Malone, FL and my scout rates him as Very Underrated. In Round 3, The Seattle Seahawks selected DT Ricky Spahr from UCLA, the 6'2" 206 pounder was born in Albuquerque, NM. In Round 4, The Seattle Seahawks, selected RG Blaine Vesneske from Colorado. The 6'2" 290 pounder was born in Hinsdale, IL In Round 5, The Seattle Seahawks, selected LDT Joey Meyer from Kentucky. Good looking draft. Hopefully Woo can over take Redman in a hurry and be your answer at QB for a long time.

Thanks for reading.. That is my hope as well, was to get through 2-3 years with Redman and have Woo ready by then. I haven't given up on Robinson quite yet, but if he doesn't show improvement he won't see the final year of his deal the expires in 2013. |
