I am just amazed that there is no Prime Time at Wimbledon.

I thought all sports had to go under the lights because of television in the modern era.

We're pushing 7 hours of tennis. So I would have needed to start watching at 6 in the morning. I was still an hour from waking up when they started.

39 all.

You know, I don't bet at all, but I'm thinking about putting my house on whoever plays the winner of this match in the next round.

Anyone know if there have been any service breaks since they got beyond 8-6, or how many?

none. In fact, Isner has not even faced a BREAK POINT in 39 fifth set service games.

(and don't be so quick to bet the house on the opponent, the player who they'll face in the next round ALSO had a marathon fifth set, although in that case it was only 14-12)

So, win or lose, how many articles will be written in France comparing Mahut's effort in this match with the French soccer team?

Wiinner plays third on Court 18 tomorrow. Oy.

Isner's got 83 aces (and counting).

Actually Wimbledon's show courts are under lights now. Djokovic went until 11 pm London time on day 1 before winning. The outside courts like where Isner is playing have no lights.

That was a fun point, even before you take into account that it was the 86th game of the set!

They're both really, really terrible at returning service. Compare the pace of this travesty to Federer. It's like watching a high school competition in comparison.

They should honor Isner and Mahut with trophies depicting the queen yawning and filing her nails.

The audacity of tennis - settling contests on the court!

in other Wimbledon news, it looks like it may be the beginning of the end for Roger Federer. He has looked far from his normal great self in first two matches against two no names. Had to come back from two sets down to win first match, and had to hold on in a tiebreaker in 4th set to prevent another five set match.

Looks like ESPN.com's Pulse app is being overloaded. I didn't realize it got stuck on 44-all until I saw in the chat box it was actually 46-all. So I exited out and tried to restart, and nothing's working.

The fact that the commentators keep saying "That's ace number XX already!" is irritating me. Already? This is absurd.

Is it just me or has their (collective) return game actually gotten sharper over the last ten points or so? They looked really bad in the 30's -- as observed above, essentially no lateral movement from anyone -- but seem to have picked things up now that they've gotten their (sixty?)second winds.

The Slam Tracker has run out of numbers, for some reason. It's now registered as 1-1 on their app. I guess it was programmed to go to 50 and that's it?

From the BBC live text...

1748: There are some very red faces out on Court 18, send sunblock immediately. Mahut leans on the net and chuckles after one point in the first visible acknowledgement from either man that they are involved in a ridiculous game of tennis. Ridiculous but record breaking as it becomes officially the longest tennis match in history when it goes past six hours and 34 minutes. A 'shock' graphic will have to do the job.

That was 2 hours 20 minutes ago folks! This is already 50% longer than the previous record, and is about to hit 9 hours
