The Last Legion.

A 300 wannabe or a Gladiator contender?

I am looking forward to this movie as it seems to be less CGi and more story than 300.

Anyone read the Novel the movie is based on?

I've seen the movie but I haven't read the novel. The movie does a decent job at combining the Arthurian legends with the history of the Roman empire.

I found the movie to be a little "out there" though... I wouldn't compare it to neither Gladiator nor 300.. this is more of a fantasy-movie than an attempt at a historical movie, though it uses the Roman empire as a backstory.

(We are talking about the movie with Ben Kingsley, right, and the book by Valero Massimo Manfredi?)

Is this movie Fact or Fiction? Here is info about the author of The Last Legion
Valerio Massimo Manfredi

Dr. Valerio Massimo Manfredi is an Italian historian, archaeologist, and journalist. He was born in Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia, Modena, Italy, in 1943. He is married to Christine Fedderson Manfredi, who translates his published works from Italian to English.

The Professor of Classical Archaeology in the "Luigi Bocconi" University of Milan and a familiar face on European television, he has led scientific expeditions, excavations and explorations in Italy and overseas. In addition to this, he has published a number of scientific articles and essays as well as thirteen novels, including the Alexander trilogy and The Last Legion.

Wasn't there a movie with a similar theme out just a few years ago?

Good movie and it reminded me of the King Arthur movie that was mentioned. Well worth the $6 to watch it.
