OT - IWS #76 Results

Well, the results are in. We had a total of 23 particpants send in their Bond answers. Looking back on it, I should probably have re-worded a couple of questions to get some more people involved. However, that is their loss and not mine.

So here we go.

1. What is the best Bond movie ever made?

Goldfinger - 14
Goldeneye - 5
Dr. No - 4

I wish that I would have just asked you to NAME a Bond movie. I think that would have brought in more variations to this question. If you didn't get this one, then you probably didn't get question #3 either.

2. Who is the hottest Bond girl in the series?

Halle Barry (Jinx Johnson) - 14
Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) - 5
Ursula Andress (Honey Ryder) - 3
The Afoci - 1

A couple of you voted for Berry because you knew stupid would, but you thought Andress should win. The answer of "The Afoci" had me laughing and I'm still laughing as I write this.

3. Who is the best Bond villain?

Goldfinger - 10
Jaws - 3
Ernst Stavro Blofeld - 3
Odd Job - 3
Pussy Galore - 1
Dr. No - 1
Max Zorin - 1
Barron Samdi - 1

This question got a nice variety and the 4 of you that answered Goldfinger to #1 and not #3 shot yourself in the foot.

4. Name an actor that SHOULD have played or SHOULD play the role of James Bond.

Ewan McGregor - 4
Tom Cruise - 3
Sean Connery - 3
Harrison Ford - 2
Jude Law - 2
Hugh Jackman - 2
John Travolta - 1
Vin Diesel - 1
Mel Gibson - 1
Jack Nicholson - 1
George Clooney - 1
Clive Owen - 1
David Nevin - 1

The Scottish connection of McGregor and the stupid answer of Connery were good to have as this question eliminated a couple that were in contention.

5. Name a movie that Sean Connery is in OTHER than the Bond series.

Untouchables - 5
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 5
The Hunt for Red October - 4
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - 3
The Rock - 2
Highlander - 2
Finding Forrester - 1
Entrapment - 1

The Untouchables had a huge early lead by Indiana Jones was able to make a comeback to tie it.

6. Who really should have won IWS #75?

Kingfc22 - 10
me - 6
Quiksand - 3
MIJB #19 - 1
George W. Bush - 1
Hornsmaniac - 1
James Bond - 1

Many of you commented that this was a no-brainer, but I thought that "me" was going to win all along. I was wrong, but it was close. "Me" was only down 8-6 before the last 2 ballots were cast. IWS legend Quiksand got the respect he deserves as he garnered 3 votes.

Now that the answers have been shared. Here are the final results:

Yay! I've been really wanting to win this for a while. Only one I "missed" was the one I thought I would (#4), and not too much damage could be done there.

Will get one up with a quick turnaround later tonight.

I think this was the most baffled I have ever been by a series of IWS questions. I figured that my "correct" answers wouldn't win, but I had a hard time coming up with Stupid answers to boot. I didn't see "Goldfinger" coming at all for #1.

Tom Cruise as Bond? Vin Diesel? Jack Nicholson? John Travolta? Some people need to be shot.

Damn, question #2 ruined me on this one. I thought that the Ursula Andress scene of her coming out of the ocean was the most famous scene involving a Bond girl, so I went with her.

Still, being one question away from winning it was a pleasant surprise for me. I thought that I was going to bomb this one...

I guess I should have figured that everyone would only remember Catherine Zeta-Jones as being in Entrapment, with those laser/gymnastics practice scenes and all...

I was so thrown off by these questions I failed to even enter, which has now become my post-victory tradition.
