Primeval
BBCAmerica show debut was tonight. Anyone besides me watch it?
Thought it showed some promise. Somewhat cheesy but still something I will keep an eye on.

I didn't get a chance to see it, but I'll try to catch a replay before next week. The CGI looked pretty weak in the previews, but the show looked interesting.

Just a bump for the people who might not have caught this series when it was on BBC America. Looks like its taking up Battlestar Galactica's old spot, starting tonight at 10 pm ET.

Primeval is a good show. Some of the accents are a bit tough though.
I am surprised that SciFi never tried to import Torchwood. They show Dr. Who and I thought they showed the youth version, Sarah Jane Adventures, previously. |

Thanks for the heads up, I tipped off my wife who was actually fairly hooked on this during it's first season.

It is entirely possible. I only watch some of the original SciFi programming. In Philly we get bus ad's for BBC America but I can't recall any for SciFi. Had tons of ads for Hex a few years back and a few for Dr. Who or Mistresses. |

I'm a little confused by your comments. I just wiki'd it and it did air on BBC America. Does Dr. Who air on Sci-Fi here? I guess that could be where our confusion is sprouting from.
I'll freely admit i torrent the shows as they air in the UK, so im oblivious as to where they air here. |

(oh and if you like Primeval and/or Dr Who check out 'Torchwood' - its more 'adult' than Dr Who though so thnk twice before letting young kids watch it - not graphic, but the good guys don't alway come out squeeky clean or even win ..)

I'm a huge Dr. Who fan. I have some Daleks on my desk at school (drives the kids nuts...they think they are Star Wars guys). My wife likes Torchwood more than me, but it's not too bad. I hate they killed off the one computer type guy (I can't remember his name).
I did really enjoy the Dr. Who season finale when Captain Jack and the other assistants came back. We haven't gotten into Primeval yet. |

Are they the ones like the cartoon starwars toys? - they're neat. My youngest son loves Dr Who and we have LOTS of Dr Who toys, including his bed spread and an 18'' remote control Dalek (minus bits he's broken off it) ... he also did Haloween here as a Dalek which confused the locals a bit Last edited by Marc Vaughan : 04-11-2009 at 10:39 AM. |

It's the 4 packet with the Doctor, the 2 Daleks, and Davros. They are pretty cool looking. My son plays with them a lot when he comes to my room when I'm planning. He's actually got an old Tom Baker figure mixed in with his Star Wars stuff. Funny stuff about the Halloween. That would have been neat to see. Do did he yell exterminate when people answered the door? Last edited by ColtCrazy : 04-11-2009 at 10:57 AM. |

Ah, makes sense. Yeah definitely strange that Dr. Who airs on SciFi here and Torchwood is on BBC America... obviously very little opportunity to cross-promote there. |

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, since it let me remind my wife who really likes this show. Which is pretty odd for someone who really doesn't like science fiction. I think something about it appeals to her low-budget-cheezy- disaster-movie love or something. It's kind of like a cross between Jurassic Park and Night of the Twister.

Weak ending tonight. With the way the crocodile thing left.
Otherwise I will start watching. It seems like a pretty good show. Last edited by tarcone : 05-17-2009 at 09:14 AM. |

just watched the episode, good start to the season, introducing some new characters, expanding the background of the anomaly's, and setting up the major storylines for the season. Was cool to see a promo for the upcoming Torchwood. Is that a movie or a continuation of that series?

Not sure whether I like the bigger picture storyline as well as I like the individual weekly stories. The latter need context of course but I'm sort of in between about the storyline they're going with.

well that's three major characters gone since the first season's finale. Can't say I like the replacements as much. Liked the episode though other than the ending. The mushroom people were pretty cool looking.

My wife's take pretty much exactly. She's about ready to give up on the show at this point, which is a pretty dramatic drop in interest since it was one of a very small number of scripted shows she treated as appointment viewing (or watches period for that matter) Reminds me of what happened with MI-5, which totally lost me as they abandoned the original cast, went from can't miss to why bother.

Glad to hear it though I was disappointed with the last season. They really need to bring Cutter back-he was the focus of the whole show after all.

woohoo, thanks for this, would have missed it. And I see Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Dr. Bashir has joined the cast. That gives me a little hope for this season after all those cast changes

Just when you thought you had seen the last of Primeval....Syfy brings it back with a whole new version! Don't know much about it yet, but looks like the actor who played Shane Donovan on Eureka is the lead, and that it was made in Canada I guess from the description?

Watched the premiere-looks like it has potential. Lead character and the women playing the CFO were good, the clueless bodyguard character and the strange X-Files like government official not so good. But the big surprise was that Andrew Lee Potts, the actor who played Conner Temple on the original Primeval, appeared in the episode-apparantly as Conner, but we don't know that yet. One problem it shares with the original Primeval is that they are not going to be able to keep the dinosaurs a secret for very long and likely will come up with questionable explanations for the various attacks and appearances by the dinos. Liked the mystery at the very end of who that person is... |
