Somers Picks Up CL Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award
Saturday, November 2nd, 2205
The Continental League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner for 2205 is John Somers of the Brooklyn Brownstones.

This season the 23-year-old shortstop played in 161 games, recording a .321 batting average with 26 home runs, 82 RBIs and 104 runs scored.


Hammersmith Center Fielder Named RL's Best Rookie

It was an impressive debut for Hammersmith center fielder Alfonso Fernández. For his solid performance, he has been chosen the best of the 2205 freshman class in the Republic League.

The 26-year-old novice carved out a .278 average during the regular season, playing in 162 games and gathering 184 hits in 663 at-bats. Fernández hit 29 home runs while driving in 117 runs and scoring 98 times. He also picked up 27 walks to post a .314 on-base percentage.

Manuel Grabs CL Gabriel Prado Award

The Gabriel Prado Award for 2205 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Roberto Manuel of Brooklyn.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Manuel. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Brownstones star told reporters.

Manuel excelled with an impressive 19-6 record in 32 starts. In 218.2 innings he yielded 187 hits and 35 walks, while striking out 145 and compiling a fine 2.43 ERA.


Tokyo Ace Wins RL Gabriel Prado Award

The Tokyo Catfish have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Noah Tremblay, this year's Republic League Gabriel Prado Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Tremblay compiled a 19-6 record in 33 starts, tallied 209 strikeouts in 231.1 innings and recorded a 2.02 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .211 batting average against him.

CL Names Hideaki Tanaka Award Winner

All year long Ramón Hernández feasted on Continental League pitching to the tune of a .366 batting average. For his outstanding efforts he collected the league's Hideaki Tanaka Award for 2205.

The Baltimore Gothams left fielder slammed opposing pitchers for 238 hits, 25 home runs and 108 RBIs, while scoring 119 times.


RL Announces Top Batter Award

Wherever Noburo Hirayama signs on next year, the left fielder will be hauling home a good paycheck after the impressive season he just wrapped up. Hirayama received word of his Republic League Hideaki Tanaka Award selection earlier today. That should make him a valuable commodity for next year.

In 2205 he boasted a .370 average and a .417 on-base percentage as he piled up 190 hits, 14 doubles, no triples, 22 home runs, 71 RBIs and 85 runs scored.
