FOF2k7, Favre retires! Rebuilding the Packers
Dynasty notes: - Starting roster file is Yabanci's 2006 1.1 (great job on this) - I have simmed the 2006 season, Favre retired at the start of the offseason so I'll take the team from then to rebuild it. - Injuries are set at 200. - I will take care of everything, gameplans, rosters etc. - Not any special house rule but to try to play on a realistic way, without trying to fool the AI on trades, player's contracts, etc.

Without Favre throwing 3-4 INTs per game, maybe the Packers might win a few now.

After the meeting with the economical team, i schedulled another one with
the staff. GB Head Coach Alfred Coleman is a good coach too, only lacking a bit of discipline. I told him he needs to be a bit harder with the players to gain their respect. Hew is on contract for 3 years more. GB Defensive Coordinator Jack O'Neill is very good developing the Defensive line and also young players but not that good with the linebackers and secondary. He is in his last contract year. GB Scout Bart Marshall is a great one, specially scouting the offensive players. He has a 4 years contract so he should be with the team for a long time: We need to hire an Offensive coordinator as we don't have any under contract.

2006 season resume:
The Packers finished 3rd in the NC North with a 4-11 (2-4) record past season. The team ended being the worst team in Rushing offense, the 6th in Passing Offense, 16th in rushing defense and 12th in passing defense. Favre was the league 5th QB in passing yards, but with a crap rating of 68.2 mainly because he was the QB who threw the most INT's, for a total of 26. ILB Barnett Nick ended as the 4th defensive player by number of trackles (126) Not any other GB player is in the top players from 2006. Favre retired at the end of the season becoming the 2006 legend of the game because his incredible numbers during his NFL career. 2007 roster at the start of the offseason: Here is the full roster including players that just became FA's. I'll analyze it by positions later. Code:

My first decission to take was to sign an Offensive Coordinator.
We approached the 45 years old coach Seth Sneed. He comes from College football and has zero experience as NFL coach, but he looks like one of the best possible heac coaches, rated very good working with QB, RB, WR and good with OL and K/P. He is average working with Young talent. He wants $2,500,000 per year for 3 years, we offer him 2,700,000 per year for 4 years trying to tie him for a long time. After 3 weeks of negotiations, he signs with Green Bay, here is his card:

Next decision, we need to set the tickets prices. Our prices are the 6th cheaper ones in the NFL and knowing the love for the team in Green Bay (98% of the stadium's capacity last year), we have decided to raised them a 10%, so our prices will be just a bit under the league average.

Before starting the FA period, we need to analyze our roster:
2007 Green Bay roster analysis: Code:
Without Favre we have nothign here. A.Rodgers could be a starter until we can find a replacement, but this is out main need right now as expected. Code:
A.Green is the only RB that we can use, and he just became FA so before trying to resign him we wil take a look at the FA poll. Green is also the backfield leader and nobody has affinities or conflicts with him, maybe we should keep him for this reason too. Another position that we need to address this offseason. Code:
V.Leach has a good future as blocker and also good receiver hands. He is in his last year of a cheap contract, we will try to renew his contract but we also need a veteran in this position. Code:
B.Franks is a great receiving TE, not that good blocking but he should be our starter. He is also a mentor to TE's. The other two TE just became FA's, we might try to resign D.Lee as he is good blocking, not that good receiving. We will try to draft a good future TE to learn from Bubba. David Martin is the receivers leader and has zero affinities or conflicts, we will need to be careful with who replaces him. Code:
We are well served of receivers. All them could be starters and we don't need to upgrade a lot this position. Maybe we will draft a good future WR to learn from mentor Ferguson. We might try to resign D.Hamilton who just became FA, but we can also search for other options. Code:
We definelty need an starting C. Wells is good enought as backup, but not as starter. White has a great future as run blocker, but is not developed at all. He is the OLine leader and has a mid affinity with LT Chad Clifton. We need to sign an starting C from FA in this position. Code:
The only good G that we had, Richard Morris, just became FA. Daryn could serve as backup, Palmer will be cut probably. We will try to resign Morris and we also need to find a vet or two to start this year. Code:
We are served at RT with M.Tauscher, but we need an starting LT. Clifton is a strong blocker but his blocking technique is almost zero for both running and pass blocking. Whitticker is exactly the opposite, good future technique but not strong enough. We will try to develop him anyway. Code:
The only good kicker we have is Marler but he is an FA now. The other two will be cut, we need to improve this position through FA and the draft. Code:
Kampman is a beast, one of the best pass rushers in the league. He scored 7.5 sacks past year. Kampman is also the DLine leader and has a strong affinity with RDE Jason Hunte, with WLB Poppinga and mid affinity with WLB Taylor. The rest are just average backups, only Tollefson can become a good pass rusher in the future. Code:
Uff, we need to improve the DT position a lot. We don't have any starter here. Jolly, Johnny can become a good pass rusher but is not developed enought yet. Both Williams and booker are RFA but i doubt we will renew them unless we can't find any replacement in the FA pool. Code:
Barnett and Hodge are quality starters. Maning could become a good SLB, the rest are just fillers. We need to sign a starting WLB or resign UFA Ben Taylor. Code:
Woodson is very good on M2M, punishing and intercepting, will be our starter. Patton will be a quality CB in the future. Harris is a mentor to CB's, he has good ratings in zone and diagnosing the play. Fair is the secondary leader but has an strong conflict with Harris and Exceptional affinities with LCB Bush and SS Thornburg. Code:
We have good future here with Thornburg, Collins and Peprah. Liles has a great future too and just became UFA, we will try to resign him. Marquand Manuel will be gone probably. We need to sign a starter as Safety or just to be patient and play the young players to develop them.

We decided to not to Franchise any player. The only one that could deserve it is RB A.Green but he is not good enoguht to be paid close to 5M.
The first week of FA is when you try to resign your RFA and we have already some decissions to take: SE Hamilton, Derrick (27/42) He asks for 700k and while not being so bad, i think there are guys like him or better in the FA pool. We won't resign him at this point. C Wells, Scott (38/50) - Resigned I like him as backup C or even starter if we can't find any other. The problem is that he asks for a 350k bonus plus $740k in one season. Maybe too big bonus for him but as he started past season and he had a blocking pct of 43.9 he wants starter money. We end agreeing at 370k bonus and a total contract of 4,160,000 for 3 years, the bastard knew we needed him. RG Richard, Morris (25/53) - Resigned Even not being developed enought, he was our starter past year and wants big money. He asks for a bonus of 450k and a 650k salary for 1 year. I want to tie him for more time as once developed he will be a good starter, also to spread the cap. After some tought negotiations we agree at 450k bonus and 3 years contract for a total value of $3.8M CB Patton, Ricky (20/53) - Resigned He can become a good enought backup at CB. He asks for 490k for 1 year. I offer 970k for 2 years with 20k bonus, he accepts FS Liles, Bucky (23/51) - Resigned He can become a really good FS. He asks for 490k for 1 year. I offer 970k for 2 years with 20k bonus, he accepts RDT Williams, Corey (22/36) Not good enought, we won't offer him anything. RDT Booker, Omar (23/44) Not good enought, we won't offer him anything. SLB Manning, Roy (15/39) Not good enought, we won't offer him anything. About the draft: A quick look at the draft pool shows us that the top two players as a great QB and a great RB, but we have the 3rd overal pick. the 3rd one is a top LT. We might consider trading up to 1st to get the QB, but...maybe too costly and we should just keep the 3rd to see which of those 3 players end with us. Any of them would be a great and much needed addiction. I'll start to interview draftees to consider what to do. Trade offer: We have also received a trade offer from the Panthers: Panthers offer: 2007 - 2(28) DE Grsiby, Otis (pure garbage) In exchange of: MLB Barnet, Nick Umm Barnet is a monster with 3 years remaining of a cheap contract. I must say no to this.

The AI certainly makes some bogus trade offers. I've never had one that I'd accept. It would be nice if this was a bit more realistic.
The #1 pick will be the QB. Definitely. Anyway, nice read Icy. Keep it up. |

I'm playing as the Pack in my game as well - except Favre is demanding a trade because I'm starting Rodgers.
Edit- In mop-up duty, Favre is 8/35 with 0 TDs and 4 Ints. Last edited by molson : 11-22-2006 at 12:02 PM. |
