Any hope of a new football sim this year?
So is this the year we finally get something new? I haven't really hard anything specific about a new football sim coming out this season. I would really love to see something for Android.
Anyone heard any rumors? Last edited by JimboJ : 07-20-2013 at 11:36 AM. |

Jim announced a new FOF fairly recently, though he did not specify a timeframe.

When it happens it happens, at least its happening. I don't care if Jim goes Duke Nukem on us and releases it in 2025 as long as I know we will once again be given the gift of awesome simulation football.

This will sound mean, but It would be cool if a football sim that looked and a presented like a 2013 release would come out. I'm just not personally interested in a new spreadsheet style game, even a very well designed one. A streamlined and attractive ios implementation would probably be the best way to entice me on playing a sim game again Last edited by Danny : 07-20-2013 at 04:34 PM. |

Yeah, to each his own. There's no way I'm going to spend the kind of time and attention I like to spend on text sims fooling around with the small screens of a phone or even an ipad. If I have a couple of hours to play a game, I'm going to want to sit down at my desk to play it.

Funny I was just sitting here thinking wouldn't it be nice if I had a football sim to play. I hope Jim can do something similar to what the guy for TEW does with a developer's blog. I'd love to know what the new game will feature.
I know he is cautious of hype because of what happened years ago, but I don't think it would be a problem this time.

Didn't see that one. Huh. If he's going to go the Steam Greenlight route, I'm going to have to think that graphical polish is going to be necessary at least to a degree; I think Greenlight requires both number of votes and also ratio of yes-to-no votes. Having everybody on FOFC vote 'yes' is a good start, but then there's also the people who will just see the game show up in their voting queue who maybe don't know what FOF is. Quote:
This one I saw, but dismissed it as goofery. |

I'd be curious if a game like FOF would succeed on Greenlight. I have my doubts.
Did OOTP get put on greenlight or was I dreaming? |

Most likely on Greenlight you'd get a lot of "NO GRAPHIX THIS SUXX" unless you built up a ton of momentum in advance.

To each his own, but I don't see "There will be a new version someday" as an announcement of a new version.
I mean..."There will be flying cars someday" isn't an announcement of flying cars being released. "I will get married someday." - Well sure...but I'm not even dating anybody right now and haven't been on a date in months. I'm not expecting any of my friends to start considering bachelor party plans. That being said - I hope we do see a new version, but I'm not holding my breath that it's going to be this year, or next year, or even two years from now. "Someday" is just too vague a word to get worked up over at all IMO. And yes, I know that's how Jim operates, and that's his prerogative obviously, and given RL and all I certainly don't begrudge him that at all, so this post shouldn't be read as a slam on that at all. Just don't see "someday" as any sort of announcement of a new version. |
