Also, despite having superior speed, agility, and strength, he only had man coverage rating in the low 70's and zone coverage in the low 80's. However, he had an overall of 88 and I started him.

Thomas had an overall of 87 and he didn't have quite as good of speed (it's 91 I think compared to Harris who has 98) but he has 93 M2M coverage and 95 Zone coverage rating as well as 75ish pursuit rating. I think that made a big difference in the 2nd half and will be a huge factor against better teams later in the year. I just wish I made this change sooner, but better late than never.

Pinkard's M2M and Zone are both around 97. Like I said, I'm dreading when Pinkard and Thomas graduate at the end of this year.

God i wish PS2 had those kind of ratings

An update: Well, with the fatigue bug being fixed, it looks like my plan to buy Madden and import these classes into Madden is back on track. I'll probably play 2 seasons of Madden over the next few weeks to catch up to where I am in this dynasty, then bounce back and forth for a season between each of the games. Now onto the last game of our regular season!

Today we host a 4-7 UCLA team. We need to beat them, and beat them big. Even then, we are unlikely to advance into the National Championship Game. UCLA has a talented QB in Ben Olson but he has been injured for most of the season which is part of the reason they are 4-7. Instead, Pat Cowan will start at QB. He is an above average QB who has completed 127 of 259 passes for 1949 yards with 17 TD's and 11 INT's on the year.

Chris Markey is a talented senior HB who has over 840 yards on 150 carries. He also has 5 TD's. Christian Ramirez is a redshirt freshman who could be a star in future years. This year, he has 280 yards on 55 carries.

Terrence Austin and Marcus Everett aren't that talented and we should be able to shut down the passing game....

Defensively, a good secondary is led by CB Trey Brown, but the rest of the defense is young and inexperienced.

After crossing midfield, Van makes a great pick of an errant Booty pass.

Harris with an interception ends their drive.

Adewale with a run and fumble three plays later.

After forcing a 3 and out, we drive the ball down the field ending in a 14 yard TD pass to Dean! 7-0.

After exchanging several failed drives, UCLA uses their TE a lot and Markey on the ground. They end with a 4 yard TD run. 7-7 as we start the 2nd quarter.

A few plays later, Booty throws a perfect strike to Dean on the fly route. 14-7 with a 54 yard TD pass.

Our next drive features Turner and ends with a 4 yard TD pass to Washington. 21-7.

After threatening to do so all game, Washington breaks a semi long one for a 28 yard rushing TD. 28-7.

Late in the 2nd period, Washington fumbles it inside their 5 and they recover. Next play we knock Cowan out of the game with a concussion. Next play, Markey runs it 92 yards for a TD on 3rd and 14!! 28-14.

However, we somehow manage to drive 69 yards in 4 plays including a 42 yard TD to Turner as the half was expiring. 35-14.

Halftime stats:

Cowan was 6 of 15 for 91 yards with an INT.

Booty was 17 of 28 for 320 yards 4 TD's and 1 INT in the half.

Markey has 13 carries for 137 yards and 2 TD's.

Washington has 11 carries for 54 yards and a TD.

After we force a 3 and out, Booty throws a pick around midfield and then fails to tackle Brown who returns it all the way. 35-21.

An 11 play 79 yard drive ends with a 2 yard TD run by Washington. 42-21.

Markey just had one of the most amazing runs I've ever seen. He must have juked at least 6 guys for a 71 yard run before Pinkard caught up to him.

3 plays later Pinkard picks off an out pattern and runs it 95 yards for a TD!!!! 49-21.

Crap. A good pick gets Everett open across the middle and Pinkard can't quite recover from the Pick and Everett goes 74 yards for a TD. 49-27.

Washington with another fumble on his 4th carry of this drive. They recover.

Suddenly, our secondary is getting tired and falling apart. A 48 yard TD makes it 49-33 (they miss the 2 pt conversion.)

5 minutes left in the game.

In a drive which we use our top 3 backs, we run it 14 times in a row for 73 yards and finally a 6 yard TD by Washington. 56-33 with 1:30 left.

Game over. 56-33 win.

Callahan of UCLA was 5 of 12 for 192 yards (thanks to 2 long TD passes) He also had a pick.

Cowan was 6 of 18 for 92 yards with 0 TD's and 1 INT.

Booty was 26 of 39 for 465 yards 4 TD's 2 INT's.

Markey had 20 carries for 206 yards and 2 TD's.

Washington had 27 carries for 117 yards and 3 TD's.

Reed had 5 carries for 31 yards.

Stefon Johnson, my 3rd string HB (and likely starter next year) had 3 carries for 20 yards.

Everett had 3 catches for 124 yards and a TD.

M. Willis had the other long TD but only the 1 catch.

Turner had 10 catches for 199 yards and a TD for us.

Dean had 6 catches for 141 yards and 2 TD's.

Washington had 4 catches for 45 yards and a TD.

Fred Davis had 2 catches for 24 yards.

R. Van led them with 8 tackles, 2 for a loss, and 1 pick.

N. Sutherland had their only sack of the day.

Ray Maualuga led us with 11 tackles, 3 for a loss, and a sack.

S. Ellis led us with 3 sacks. We had 7 as a team today.

Pinkard and W. Harris each had a pick for us.

Will this win get us into the national championship game? Come on New Mexico, please beat Michigan!

Not surprisingly, Michigan beat New Mexico 52-7.

Now, I'm praying for Nebraska (ranked 16th) to beat Texas in the Conference Championship game...

But, Texas crushed Nebraska 42-10.

Now onto the Heisman Trophy:

Colt McCoy of Texas wins it in a decisive manner with 489 1st place votes, 232 2nd place votes, and 56 3rd place votes. The QB completed 229 of 350 passes for 3406 yards and threw 44 TD's with only 9 INT's.

Rudy Burgess, the WR from ASU came in 2nd with 81 catches for 1427 yards and 24 TD's. He got 151 1st place votes and a bunch of 2nd place votes.

Lamarcus Coker, the HB from Tennessee came in 3rd thanks to 217 carries for 1290 yards with 14 TD's. He also had 53 receptions for 985 yards and 8 TD's.

Rudy Carpenter, the QB from ASU might have split some of Burgess' votes. He was 257 of 393 for 3729 yards and 44 TD's and 12 INT's.

Finally, Josh Morgan of VT came in 5th with 59 catches for 1078 yards and 16 TD's. He also had a lot of return yards.

Texas and Michigan will meet for the national title. We will play Louisville in the Rose Bowl.

Today we play in the Rose Bowl against Louisville. They are led by New Player (did the guy naming players mess up?) New Player is a talented Redshirt Freshman QB who already has a great arm along with good mobility. He has completed 245 of 402 passes for 2856 yards with 40 TD's and 20 INT's.

George Stipling is a very good HB who has 224 carries for 1401 yards on the year along with 10 TD's.

Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia are a very talented pair of WR's who are each approaching 1000 yards on the season. They have 74 and 72 receptions and each have 12 TD's.

Their defense is 2nd in the nation statistically and they have a lot of talent. MLB Lamar Myles is a tackling machine and he has 83 on the year. OLB Preston Smith is fast and a sure tackler. Malik Johnson completes one of the best LB corps in the country. Rod Council leads a talented secondary but Bobby Buchanan is a weak point that will be matching up against Dean hopefully. Buchanan doesn't have the speed to keep up with Dean..

A very good defensive line is led by RE Brandon Cox who had 9 sacks on the year.

They stop us short of midfield on our first drive.

They finish a 14 play 86 yard drive that ate up 5:03 with a 2 yard QB Scramble for a TD. 7-0.

Hazelton drops a 3rd down pass and we have to punt... but they fumble the PR! We recover.

Booty throws a pick to the LB on the 2 yard line ending our next drive.

2 plays later, Ellis sacks the QB forces a fumble which Morrow recovers in the endzone for a TD!!!! 7-7.

Midway through the 2nd period, they hit a 50 yard FG to make it 10-7.

A zone blitz leads to a bad pass by the QB and Pinkard intercepts it and returns it 61 yards for a TD. 14-10. Our defense is doing all of the scoring.

Halftime: 14-10 lead.

Booty has been under HEAVY pressure with 4 sacks.

He is 3 of 12 for 65 yards with 1 INT.

N. Player is 12 of 15 for 87 yards and an INT.

G. Stripling has 18 carries for 54 yards.

On 4th and 8, they kick a 38 yard FG. 21-16 with 3:02 to go.

They kick it deep..

Washington fumbles, but Byers falls on it.

Davis drops a 3rd down ball. We've had a TON of drops today.

They get across midfield with 1:35 left...

2 plays later Rivers intercepts it!!!!

With 5 seconds left, Danelo hits a 44 yard FG to make it 24-16.

Game over. 24-16 win in the Rose Bowl!

All American LG Jeff Byers is going early and is quite determined.

Junior set to be a star WR Patrick Turner is going early and will not be convinced to stay.

MLB Rey Maualuga is strongly considering going. I try to talk him into staying, but fail to do so.

C Travis Draper leaves early.

CB Kevin Thomas leaves early and he was my likely #1 guy this upcoming year.

Fred Davis graduates and is almost certain to get drafted high.

Keith Rivers leaves as one of the highest regarded LB's in the nation.

DT Sedrick Ellis leaves as the top ranked DT on many teams draft boards.

FB Jody Adewale leaves as a highly regarded draft prospect.

CB Josh Pinkard leaves as a likely 1st round pick.

RE Jeff Schweiger graduates and will likely be a day 1 selection.

TE Jimmy Miller will probably make a roster after graduation.

OLB Thomas Miller will likely get drafted.

HB Chauncey Washington should be a day 1 selection.

QB Josh Booty should be a day 1 selection for a team looking for a QB.

HB Desmond Reed should make a team.

TE Dale Thompson might make a team.

LE Alex Morrow should be drafted.

CB Terrell Thomas should make someone's roster.

Backup DT Chris Barrett has a good chance to play on Sunday, but probably at DE.

HB Whitney Lewis should make a team as a punt return specialist if not as a HB.

LG Drew Radovich probably won't play in the NFL.

QB Michael McDonald is unlikely to make it to the pros.

RG Alatini Malu is unlikely to make it either.

That is our entire exiting class. I can't wait to see how these guys do in Madden. Time to restock with a good recruiting class..

None of the recruits we are pursuing sign in week 1.

In Week 2, we get 3 recruits.

Donnell Alvarez is a 5'11 192 pound 5 star HB from Ran Palos Verde California. He is ranked 26th overall in the country, and we've now signed the top 2 HB's in the country to compete with Stefon for the starting HB position next year. We should be stacked.

Justin King is a 6'7 229 pound 3 star TE from Rohnert Park, California. He is ranked 434th in the nation.

Cedric Mitchell is a 6'3 171 pound 3 star WR from Lakeside, California. He is ranked 631st in the nation.

In week 3, we get 2 more 3 star prospects. C Robert Hill 6'1 288 pounds from Watsonville, California and 6'4 342 pound 3 star RT Willie Landrum from South Gate, CA.

In week 4, we pick Chris Gatewood, a 4 star 6'3 248 pound TE from CA. We also get 2 star RG John Lopez who is 6'1 350 and 2 star CB Brett Mack who is 6'1 182.

In week 5, we hit the jackpot. Ray Mosley is a 6'1 260 pound 4 star DE from CA.

Damon Horne is a 6'2 182 pound 4 star HB from CA. I'll probably have him put on weight and play some FB.

Jon Brewer is a mobile 3 star QB.

Michael Jefferson is a 6'4 296 pound 3 star C who will play some G for us.

John McCarty is a speedy 3 star WR.

Jelani Biggers is a 6'6 260 pound 1 star DT who will give us a bit of depth.

Our class ranked 12th with 2 5 star players, 4 4 star players, 8 3 star players, 2 2 star players, and 1 1 star player.

Texas had the best class with 4 5 star players, 10 4 star players, 5 3 star players, and 1 2 star player.

Edward Porter took the biggest jump in skill during the spring training.

Time to quickly glance over the roster:

Sanchez is the undisputer starter with an overall of 93, 96 Throwing Power and 92 accuracy.

Garrett Green is coming up strong however with an overall of 88. Speed of 84, throwing power of 90 and throwing accuracy of 89.

Jon Brewer the true freshman will redshirt this year barring injuries. However, he is already quite advanced.

Our project QB, redshirt Mike Brooks is one of the fastest guys on the team but has 73 Arm Strength and 72 accuracy.

At HB we have a huge battle. The freshman haven't stepped up as much as I thought they would, but sophomores Stafon Johnson and C.J. Gable are ready to battle it out. Both will probably see PT. Stafon has great speed but can really run over people. Gable is extremely elusive and not quite as fast. They are rated 90 overall each.

Sophomore FB John Seward will start. He is fast with 81 speed. He has decent hands and is an above average blocker.

We've moved HB Michael Coleman to FB and he is an above average runner at the position, but a poor blocker.

We have an abundance of talent at WR. With Turner graduated, Vidal Hazelton stpes into a starting role. Jamere Holland has really stepped up and he has blazing speed so he might win the other starting role from Donnie Dean who is the fastest guy on our team. Either way, we will run a lot of 3 WR set's and be a very tough matchup.

Davis Ausberry is a very good #4 WR who is rated 86. The others are rated 89,88, and 87.

Our two true freshmen will both redshirt this year.

Michael Riley is a redshirt freshman who has decent speed (78) but has very good hands, and is a good blocker. He will start at TE.

Anthony McCoy isn't much behind him. He is also a good blocker, but is much faster. If he can work on holding onto the ball more, and his awareness, he could take over the starting job.

Junior LT Jeff Tola is a great blocker who will anchor our line. He is equally skilled at run and pass blocking.

Jeff Schweiger is a very good pass blocker and a good run blocker who is only a sophomore.

Center is our weakpoint and Lawrence Harmon will again start, but if he doesn't improve quite a bit this year, we'll be looking for a new C next year.

Joe Howard, the true sophmore, is really blossoming into an elite blocker.

RT Charles Brown is a very good pass blocker, but only good at run blocking. There is a significant drop off in our depth along the entire line.

AT LE, Jeff Smith should shine this year. However, RE Kyle Moore is our true star. The 6'7 270 pound DE is a very quick player for his size.

Lawrence Miles and Fili Moala pair up to be one of the best DT tandems in the nation this year.

LOLB Brian Cushing will move into the starter's role. He is a very sure tackler.

At MLB it is a battle between the speedy P.J. McCray and instictual David Tuiasosopo to see who takes over the starting role. Neither are much above average, yet.

Kaluka Maiava has the potential to be our star LB from the ROLB spot.

Cary Harris responded well to the demotion last year and has really improved his M2M and zone coverage skills and will be our undisputed #1 CB. I've moved Kevin Ellison to CB due to the lack of depth at the position, and the former safety will battle senior Mozique McCurtis for the #2 CB position. Both are good coverage men. It gets very ugly after that and we don't have a very good dime CB.

By default, true Freshman Brett Mach will probably win that dime cornerback spot, but we need to bring much more talent to the position while recruiting.

FS Antwine Perez is only a sophomore, but he might be the fastest, most sure handed, best coverage safety in America. To top it off, he is a sure tackler.

Freshman Tommy Carrington is a good safety working behind him.

SS Will Harris and Edward Porter continue to battle for the starting SS spot. Porter has amazing speed (faster than any of my CB's) and is stronger, more agile, and has better acceleration. He is a threat to return any interceptions the distance with very elusive moves. He is also a better tackler. On the other hand, Harris is the smarter, more aware player who is better at sniffing out running plays. He also pursues better, and is a much better coverage player. Porter's play recognition is abysmal.

Mario Danelo is our senior kicker who has great accuracy and very good leg strength.

Senior Punter Taylor Odegard is good but not great.

In week 1, Tim Tebow, the QB for Florida, was the player of the week after throwing 20 of 24 for 228 yards and 5 TD's in a 69-6 win over Hawaii.

Wendel Davis, the LOLB for Arkansas, won the defensive player of the week award after he had 8 tackles, 5 for a loss, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions in a 59-0 win over Buffalo.

In week 2, we start off with a tuneup against UL-Monroe before playing Ohio State next week. UL-Monroe lost their starting QB in week 1, and this should be a big time rout (and a test that I really dominate weaker teams like I should even on Heisman without resorting to cheap tricks.)

Kaluka forces their HB to fumble on his 1st carry. We recover.

We pound it into their 10, but Johnson fumbles and they recover.

With 4 WR, I decide to use Porter as our dime CB.

We force a 3 and out, and our defense looks good so far.

Sanchez throws a pick on his third throw, a simple out, and the CB evades Sanchez and goes the distance. 7-0.

One 38 yard pass gets them another FG after several failed drives by each side. 10-0 they lead!

After a few bad drives, Gable comes in. 2nd run is a 39 yard carry to the outside.

I'm having a hard time completing passes without relying on my 2 usual plays for good passes. But, we manage to get inside the 20 where I have to settle for a FG. 10-3.

McCurtis (who won the #2 CB spot) gets his first pick of the year on a post route.

I decide I'm going to stop just pounding the rock and passing from weakness and start using our multiple WR's against their inferior CB's.

2 plays later Dean burns his man on the fly route for a 27 yard TD. 10-10.

First play of their drive, Harris intercepts a WR screen.

Johnson fumbles it on the 1 when attempting to dive over the pile. They get the fumble. Gable will be getting the majority of our carries now..

We stuff the HB for a safety on the next play. 12-10.

First play of our drive, Gable gets perfect blocking on a counter and goes untouched 48 yards for a TD. 19-10.

After several short passes, they hit a long pass (52 yards) on us for a TD. 19-17 with 6 minutes left in the half. To be fair, it was our dime CB they beat.

A few plays later Sanchez hits Holland on a long crossing route. 26-17.

After getting a stop, we put together a balanced drive which ends with a TD pass to Holland on a simple out. 33-17. Momentum is really going our way now.

Halftime: 33-17 lead for us.

C. Patton is 14 of 25 for 191 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT's for them as they are running a spread offense.

Sanchez is 10 of 20 for 156 yards with 3 TD's 1 INT.

Gable has 7 carries for 112 yards and a TD.

Stafon Johnson has 11 carries for 25 yards and 2 fumbles lost.

Patton is actually fairly well rated with an overall of 85, TP of 91, and TA of 81.

However, their 3 WR's aren't as good as our top CB's.

We get the ball to start the 2nd half.

Danelo hits a 44 yard FG to make it 36-17.

They have been using a 4-6 defense all day to stop our running attack (except for one or two big runs.)

A truly beautiful PA pass fakes out our defense (including our inexperienced MLB) and the TE is wide open for a 42 yard TD pass. 36-24.

Sanchez overthrows the WR on a slant and the CB intercepts it and returns it all the way. 36-31.

Maybe as I get back into practice with this game, and am not so tired, I won't make so many bad reads.

Oh my, the TE fumbles after catching a short pass. Our RT recovers, but he fumbles it.. they pick it up and return it all the way. 37-36 they lead after we stop the 2 pt coversion.

They go all out on a blitz on 3rd and 3 and Sanchez hits Hazelton with a quick pass that he takes the distance. They stop us from converting the 2 pt conversion. 42-37 lead.

Perez with a great pick of a long pass. Great return also to get us inside the 20.

Sanchez with a PA pass from the 2 to the FB to make it 49-37 as we enter the 4th quarter.

Harris with another pick. Their tendency to pass every play is finally hurting them..

Dean drops a 3rd down pass that hits him right in the hands.

As a result, we settle for a 35 yard FG. 52-37.

Most of our CB's have been tired during the 2nd half.

Johnson (who was in cause Gable was tired) gets great blocking and runs it in 20 yards for a TD without being touched. 59-37 with 1:30 left.

Ellison gets a pick to end their last drive.

Game over. 59-37 win. Hopefully, our defense can pull it together in future games.

Patton finished 23 of 44 for 305 yards with 2 TD's 5 INT's.

Sanchez finished 22 of 37 for 331 yards with 5 TD's 2 INT's.

Crum, their HB, ran it 9 times for -3 yards.

Gable had 18 carries for 164 yards and a TD. No fumbles.

Stafon Johnson ran it 19 times for 61 yards with a TD. 2 fumbles.

Sanchez only ran 3 times for 12 yards.

R. Mingo led them with 5 catches for 90 yards and a TD including their long of 52 yards.

Hazelton led us with 7 catches for 120 yards and 2 TD's.

Stafon Johnson had 5 catches for 54 yards.

Holland had 3 catches for 68 yards and a TD.

Dean had 2 catches for 32 yards and a TD.

J. Foster led them 9 tackles, 1 for a loss.

T. Eickman led them with 2 sacks.

K. Scott had 1 pick for them and M. Thompson had the other.

McCurtis led us with 12 tackles.

5 different players had a pick. No sacks, but we tackled the QB on runs quite a few times for a loss.

Despite the relatively close game, we maintain our #1 spot that we had in the pre-season polls. Our next game will be hosting #7 Ohio State who are 2-0.

Brandon Gibson of Washington State won the Offensive Player of the Week Award after he had 10 catches for 190 yards with 5 TD's in a 49-35 win over Idaho.

Matt Lewis of LSU won the defensive Player of the Week Award after he had 8 tackles and 2 Interceptions in a 48-7 win over a division 2 school.

This week, we face Ohio State at our place. Their QB Todd Boeckman is a a good but not great thrower who has 89 accuracy and 88 power. He is not nearly as mobile as Troy Smith or other previous QB's.

However, they have two great HB's. Chris Wells can run over most defenders and is quick too. Erik Haw is faster and almost as tough to tackle. They are probably the best tandem of HB's in the nation. Aram Olson is a good lead blocker.

Brian Hartline, Albert Dukes, and Ray Small form a dangerous receiving corp that may outmatch my top 3 CB's.

The Left side of the offensive line is great led by Alex Boone who is a favorite to go high in the draft. The right side of the line isn'tbad.

Lawrence Wilson and Robert Rose are two great DE's on either side. Nader Abdallah is an excellent DT. The linebacking crop is young but Ross Homan is a very fast very physical player.

Malcolm Jenkins is a shut down coenr and Andre Amos is almost as good.

Jamario ONeal is one of the best SS in the nation. Their defense is definitely better than ours.

This should be a very tough game.

Sanchez is 4 of 4 for 48 yards on our first drive and Gable runs it 4 times for 33 yards as we end with a TD pass via a PA pass to our FB. 7-0.

We stop them short of midfield and force a punt.

Gable has a great run in which he hurdles a defender, spins away from another, and then he fumbles it. They recover.

Wells was running well but on his 5th carry of the drive we force a fumble that Harris recovers for us.

Gable drops a 3rd down pass and we have to punt a few plays later.

Wow, Seward gets his 2nd TD reception of the day after we stop them. It was a balanced drive for us that ended in a 6 yard TD pass to Seward who ran a little Curl from the backfield.

14-0 we lead with 8:40 left in the half.

As they are crossing midfield (using some good runs and passes), McCurtis intercepts an out and goes the distance. 21-0.

I'm stacking 8 in the box, blitzing a fair bit, and it is working to control their running game and stifle their passing game.

They put together a really good drive in which they run for a first on 3rd and 5 out of a 4 WR set, hit some key passes, ending in a TD pass of 12 yards. We block the XP. 21-6.

2 minutes left in the half.

Sanchez is sacked by Rose and he causes a fumble.. Abdallah picks it up and runs it in 31 yards for a TD. 21-13.

1 minute left.

Halftime: 21-13 lead.

Boeckman is 7 of 15 for 91 yards with a TD and an INT.

Sanchez is 9 of 13 for 102 yards with 2 TD's.

Wells has 10 carries for 41 yards.

Haw has 4 carries for 1 yard.

Gable has 12 carries for 45 yards.

Johnson has 3 carries for 18 yards.

After Wells pounds us 5 times in a row, Haw comes in and gets perfect blocking on a toss to the left and goes the distance. 58 yard TD run for Haw. Haw runs it in for the 2 point conversion as well. 21-21.

They stop us just inside the 20, and we kick a 37 yard FG to make it 24-21. 4:30 left in the 3rd.

With a defender in his face, their QB throws it up for grabs and Ellison intercepts it!

Sanchez throws a pick to Ross Homan, two plays later.

They put together a very good balanced drive which ends in a 11 yard TD run by Haw.

Haw has 6 carries for 71 yards and 2 TD's today. 28-24.

End of 3: 28-24 Ohio State leads.

Johnson drops a pass that would have certainly been a TD. Instead we go for a long FG. Danelo hits the 52 yard FG. 28-27, Ohio State leads.

Crap! On 4th and inches, they get one of my DL to jump and give them a first.

The next play they hit Hartline on the slant and he takes it all the way for his 2nd TD of the day. 32 yard TD pass. 35-27.

4:40 left.

1st play, Rose sacks Sanchez, and knocks him out of the game. Time for the scrambler, Garrett to come in.

Garrett scrambles to get us a 3rd and 2. He overthrows his receiver on 3rd down. We go for it on 4th and they sack him.

Their QB throws it as he is being hit and the TE catches it and converts the 3rd and 12.

We force them to settle for a FG 3 plays later, but that gives them a 11 point lead with 2:30 to go. 38-27.

Sanchez fumbles when trying to scramble for a first and they recover and score a TD. 45-27.

Seward, our FB, gets his 3rd TD reception of the day on a 11 yard ou. 45-34. 32 seconds left.

We recover the onside, but it didn't go 10 yards. Their ball.

Game over. 45-34 loss.

Boeckman was 14 of 26 for 208 yards with 2 TD's 2 INT's.

Sanchez was 19 of 32 for 210 yards with 3 TD's 1 INT.

Green was 0 of 1 for 0 yards.

Haw had 8 carries for 79 yards and 2 TD's.

Wells had 19 carries for 62 yards.

Gable had 19 carries for 76 yards.

Johnson had 5 carries for 28 yards.

Garrett Green had 1 carry for 12 yards.

Sanchez had 5 carries for 10 yards.

Hartline had 6 receptions for 71 yards and 2 TD's to lead the Buckeyes.

Seward, our FB, led the team with 5 catches for 41 yards and 3 TD's.

Dean had 3 catches for 75 yards.

Hazelton had 3 catches for 21 yards.

Holland had 2 catches for 32 yards.

Riley and McCoy each had 2 catches for 24 and 15 yards.

Homan led them with 9 tackles. Rose led them with 3 sacks. Homan had their only pick.

Perez led us with 9 tackles.

Moore had our only sack.

Ellison and McCurtis each had a pick.

At least the loss was early. If we can run the rest of the table, our SOS might get us into the national title picture..

So, that loss drops us from #1 to #7 in the polls while Ohio State jumps from 7 to 3rd with a few 1st place votes.

We have a bye this week as we lick our wounds..

Chris Todd of Texas Tech was the Player of the Week for completing 40 of 56 passes for 489 yards with 6 TD's in a 52-28 win over SMU.

Archie Donald of Toledo was the defensive player of the week for having 4 interceptions in a 31-27 win over FIU.

The good news is that we have 5 very good players who are considering giving us early commits..

In week 4, Ohio State lost to Texas 24-22 and they fell back to 7th place. We moved up to 6th during our Bye Week.

The top 10:

1. Texas 4-0
2. Miami 4-0
3. Virginia Tech 4-0
4. West Virginia 4-0
5. Tennessee 4-0
6. USC 1-1
7. Ohio State 3-1
8. Nebraska 3-0 (against a bunch of cream puffs)
9. Louisville 4-0 "
10. South Carolina 3-0 "

Stephen McGee of Texas A&M won offensive player of the week after he threw 25 of 33 for 334 yards and ran it 7 times for 85 yards with a total of 5 TD"s in a 49-21 win over Army.

Jammar Crane was defensive player of the week after having 11 tackles, 6 for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 FF, and 1 FR in a 56-3 win for Wisconsin over a Division II team.

Now we play Arizona at their place. They have Willie Tuitama who is an excellent QB. He has good mobility, and a powerful accurate arm.

Cody Glenn and Xavier Smith are a very good 1-2 HB combo.

However, their WR corp is inexperienced, albeit fast.

With the exception of RG Daniel Borg, their offensive line isn't very good.

DT Donald Horton is the star of a good defensive line.

LOLB Steve Clark is a true freshman and he is starting despite being VERY green. The rest of their LB's are good.

Their CB's are fast but not very talented and their Dime CB is downright bad. We should exploit him with some 4 WR sets.

Their safeties are just average.

We are expected to win by a wide margin.

Tuitama dissected us most of the field, but he overthrew it from the 20, and I intercepted it in the endzone for a touchback.

We fail to move it more than 15 yards and punt.

They end a great drive with a 4 yard TD run. 7-0.

We drive inside the 5 thanks to a long pass to Dean, but they intercept it on the 1 and return it 26 yards.

My other Harris gets a pick to end their drive.

After running the ball 5 times in a row, we throw a PA pass on 1st and 10 for a 29 yard TD to Hazelton. He got 20 of those yards after the catch.

They keep us off balance and put together a nice drive that ends in a 8 yard TD run. 14-7.

Gable fumbles and they recover at midfield or thereabouts.

Midway through the 2nd, Fili Moala goes out with an injury and will miss about 2 weeks. Big loss there.

With the time running out, they end their long drive with a 2 yard TD run. Their HB now has 3 TD's. 21-7.

A hail mary is incomplete and we go into halftime down 21-7!

Sanchez is 5 of 10 for 119 yards with a TD and an INT.

Tuitama is 14 of 17 for 171 yards with 0 TD 2 INT's.

Gable has 7 carries for 18 yards.

Glenn has 14 carries for 46 yards.

Xavier Smith has 7 carries for 29 yards and 3 TD's.

Least we get the kickoff.

Hazelwood drops a deep pass on 2nd and 22.

They sack us twice on our first drive of the 2nd half and we punt.

A great punt return gives them a short field.

They end a 38 yard drive with another 5 yard rushing TD. 28-7..

They've been killing our inexperienced MLB's with TE passes.

Sanchez throws his 2nd pick of the day to end a long drive.

Glenn with an amazing 5 yard run to convert 3rd and 3.

They miss a 53 yard FG to keep us in the game.

Gable breaks one right up the middle in which he dodged the only unblocked defender. The 64 yard TD run will hopefully get us back into the game. 28-14.

We force a 3 and out! We double covered the TE every play.

They force a 3 and out thanks to a big sack.

They have a big play in which their WR stiff armed his man and ran for 42 yards before we could catch up to him.

They end the drive with a few runs in a row ending in a 4th TD run for Smith.

1:00 left in the 3rd and we are down 35-14.

7 plays later Holland catches a great pass on the streak and makes a 44 yard TD. 35-21.

We force a 3 and out and get the ball back with 9 minutes left in the game.

We put together a great drive that ends with a 6 yard scramble TD by Sanchez. 35-28.

They drop a 3rd down pass and go 3 and out!

We get the ball back with 6:30.

We end a balanced drive with a TD run by Stafon Johnson. 35-35.

3:30 left in the game.

We force a 3 and out!

Crap. Sanchez is sacked and fumbles it.

They recover.

We force a punt after 5 plays.

On our own 20. 1:22 left in the game.

Amazing. With 12 seconds left, I call a run just to center it for a FG, but Johnson spins from a defender, stiff arms another and drags the last one into the endzone for a 11 yard TD!!! 42-35.

They can't return it all the way and time runs out.

We should have won by more, but at least we got the win.

42-35 win.

The game is my #1 classic. Score of 945.

Sanchez was 19 of 35 for 305 yards 2 TD's 2 INT's.

Tuitama was 18 of 34 for 276 yards 2 INT's. He did much worse in the 2nd half once I ran more zones and covered the TE with 2 guys when I didn't zone up.

Gable had 17 carries for 111 yards and a TD.

Sanchez had 7 carries for 50 yards and a TD.

Johnson had 10 carries for 39 yards and 2 TD's.

For them, Glenn had 24 carries for 63 yards and a TD.

Smith had 10 carries for 36 yards and 4 TD's.

Hazelton had 5 catches for 93 yards for us with a TD.

Gable had 4 catches for 29 yards.

Dean had 3 catches for 78 yards.

Holland had 2 catches for 58 yards and a TD.

Seward had 2 catches for 19 yards.

T. Bell their TE led them with 7 catches for 95 yards.

D. Jackson had 7 catches for 148 yards.

Our MLB P. McCray had 9 tackles to lead the team.

L Miles and B. Cushing each had a sack for us.

Will and Cary Harris each had a pick for us.

D. Ross led them with 9 tackles.

A. Simmons led them with 2 sacks. But they had 5 as a team.

J. Alford and R. Palmer each had a pick for them.

The top 10 maintain their rankings with wins.

Rocky Hinds wins Offensive Player of the week as he guided UNLV to a 56-14 win over Wyoming thanks to 21 of 24 for 384 yard passing. He also had 8 carries for 59 yards with a total of 7 TD's.

Brad Jones of Colorado won defensive player of the week after he helped his team beat Miz 36-29 in OT with 11 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a FF.

This week we face a 3-0 Washington State on their field. The experts are split on who will win this game. Washington State's top two QB's are injured and they are expected to start Arkelon Hall today. Arkelon has a cannon of an arm, but is very immobile. Hopefully, we can hit him frequently.

DeMaundray Woolridge is a very good HB who has 228 yards and 3 TD's on the season. He is averaging almost 5 yards per carry.

Brandon Gibson is a very good receiver who has good speed and excellent hands. He leads the team with 21 catches for 356 yards and 6 TD's.

The OL isn't very good.

Andy Mattingly is a superior SS who leads a good secondary. He has 4 interceptions on the year already.

Mike Graise is a good DE, but the rest of the front 7 aren't too good.

I'm surprised the experts aren't unanimous in favor of us winning it.

They stop us inside the 5, and we settle for a short FG to make it 3-0.

Oh wow, we nail their QB on an option and he will be out at least a quarter. They go to their 4th string QB, a WR.

He completes a screen for his first pass. It's a wobbly pass though.

He completes his 2nd pass, another screen.

They have to punt since those plays went for 1 yard each.

Too bad there is only 4 minutes left in the 1st. I'd like to see more of the WR/QB.

A balanced drive ends with a 5 yard TD run by Stafon Johnson. 10-0.

The WR/QB throws a pick on his first pass of his second drive.

A few plays later, Stafon Johnson runs it in from the 11. 17-0.

Their WR/QB still is in the game to start the 2nd quarter. They run it the first two plays including an option play. We force a 3rd and 11. He completes a little slant but it is only a 6 yard gain. We force a punt.

They force a 3 and out and their "starter" comes back in at QB.

Their running game gets them down the field a bit and they kick a 40 yard FG. 17-3.

After exchanging failed drives they get the ball back and march down the field ending in a TD pass in which one receiver tips it to another of their receivers. 17-10 with 50 seconds left.

On the 2nd play of our drive, Dean absolutely burns his man deep and Sanchez hits him in stride. 72 yard TD. 24-10.

Halftime: 24-10 we lead.

Sanchez is 10 of 17 for 213 yards and a TD at the half.

Hall is 12 of 17 for 153 yards and a TD.

We force a 3 and out to start their first drive of the 2nd half.

They force a 3 and out as well, Sanchez overthrew a receiver on 3rd and 5.

Oh my! Gable broke 3 tackles up the middle for a 47 yard TD run. 31-10.

A bad pitch flys over the HB's head and the defense recovers and runs it all the way to score them a TD. 31-17.

Johnson gets his 3rd rushing TD (a 2 yarder) as we enter the 4th quarter. 38-17.

Maiava with a good pick of a slant and he returns it 55 yards for a TD. 45-17.

A few plays later, McCray has a great leaping pick for us.

A few plays later, Johnson gets his 4th rushing TD of the day. 52-17.

We force a 3 and out.. Time to bring in the 2nd team offense with 5 minutes left.

Johnson (who is actually on the 2nd team) is fatigued and fumbles late in the game. They recover.

Game over. 52-17 win for us.

Sanchez was 16 of 24 for 310 yards with a TD.

Garrett Green was 3 of 3 for 43 yards.

Hall was 20 of 30 for 211 yards with a TD and 2 INT's for them.

Gable had 14 carries for 107 yards and a TD.

Johnson had 16 carries for 47 yards and 4 TD's for us.

Garrett Green had 3 carries for 10 yards.

Woolridge had 13 carries for 9 yards for them.

Dean led our team with 7 catches for 154 yards and a TD.

We had 5 receivers with 2 catches.

S. Robinson led them with 6 catches for 95 yards.

Gibson had their only TD reception of the day.

Ellison led us with 9 tackles.

5 different guys had 1 sack for us.

Maiava, Harris, and McCray had our picks.

Mike Graise had 2 sacks of Sanchez.

A. Mattingly led them with 8 tackles.

Hopefully, that win can boost us up the rankings.

Despite the big win, we remain ranked #6.

#5 Tennessee lost to South Carolina 42-31, but we didn't move up as South Carolina jumped from #10 to #5 with the win. South Carolina is still undefeated.

This upcoming week, we host an 0-4 Washington team, and we also host 4 big recruits that we are working on getting to committ.

Andre Crenshaw of Oregon won Offensive player of the week after he had 28 carries for 214 yards and 2 TD's as well as 5 receptions for 97 yards in a 34-21 win over ASU.

Deon Hightower of Minnesota was the defensive player of the week after he had 12 tackles, 7 for a loss, 2 sacks, and an interception in a 27-3 win over Illini.

Today, we host an 0-4 Washington team. Their QB, Jake Locker (a sophomore) is barely completing 50% of his passes and has thrown more picks than TD's, but he is fast and has a good arm. He could be dangerous if he makes good decisions.

Their running attack is led by J.R. Hasty who is a good back but not too good. He has 225 yards on 50 carries this year and 2 TD's.

Locker is the 2nd leading rusher with 200 yards on 42 carries.

Marcel Reece is a good receiver who leads the team with 16 catches for 175 yards, but the rest of the receiving corp are average at best.

Their LT is a very good blocker, but the rest of the line is average to below average.

Their OLB, E.J. Savannah is a tough fast kid who is a great tackler. He leads the team with 32 tackles. Chris Stevens on the other side is another great OLB and he is second on the team with 30 tackles. Walt Winter is a very good DE who has 3 sacks on the year. The rest of the defense is just average at best. Their CB"s are BAD. We should be able to torch them through the air.

Of course, I want to showcase the running backs too since we are trying to convince a top notch RB to committ to our program today.

Wow, their HB/KR Hasty breaks two arm tackles, jukes my kicker and takes the opening kickoff 97 yards for a TD. 7-0.

They force a 3 and out, get a good punt return, and use the short field to get a 42 yard FG after we stop them short on 3rd down. 10-0.

With a minute left in the 1st, they stop us inside the 5, and we kick the short FG. 10-3.

They hit a 48 yard FG to make it 13-3.

After a few runs, we catch them on a blitz with a screen pass to the HB Gable. Perfect blocking lets him go untouched down the sideline for a 64 yard TD. 13-10.

We stop them and force a punt. We put together a balanced drive which ends with a 12 yard TD pass to the TE Riley. 17-13.

A zone blitz confuses them and Harris intercepts the ball. 1:30 left in the half. We are at midfield.

Bad clock management on my part causes us to run out of time while on the 3rd yard line on 2nd down.

Halftime: 17-13 we lead.

Sanchez is 9 of 21 for 168 yards with 2 TD's at halftime.

Locker is 7 of 14 for 73 yards and an INT.

We get the ball.

Porter returns it to their 49.

First play, we call a PA pass, Booty barely rolls away from a DE and throws a perfect strike to Hazelton down the sideline for a 49 yard TD. 24-13.

After exchanging failed drives, we get into FG range and connect on a 39 yarder. 27-13.

They burn us with a great PA pass when we had an all out blitz. 47 yard TD pass. 27-20.

Midway through the 4th, we end a long balanced drive with a 1 yard TD run by Gable. 34-20.

My other Harris, Will, gets a pick to seal the deal.

They get their 6th sack on my QB to end our short drive, but we connect on a 41 yard FG. 37-20.

We force a turnover on downs. We try to run out the clock, but are unable to convert 3rd and 3. We kick a 40 yard Fg. 40-20.

Game over. 40-20 win for us.

Sanchez was 21 of 40 for 340 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's.

Locker was 15 of 37 for 204 yards with a TD 2 INT's.

Locker was their leading rusher with 5 carries for 25 yards.

We held Hasty to 10 yards on 9 carries.

Gable had 20 carries for 80 yards and a TD.

Johnson had 9 carries for 14 yards.

Sanchez had 6 carries for 32 yards.

M. Reece led them with 5 catches for 61 yards.

Hazelton led us with 6 catches for 113 yards and a TD.

Dean was 2nd on the team team with 5 catches for 75 yards.

C. Elisara led them with 7 tackles and 2 sacks.

Will Harris led us with 7 tackles. He had a pick as did Cary Harris.

We had 7 players get 1 sack each on their QB.

Today we host a 1-4 Arizona State team. However, they have talent. Their QB Derek Shaw has a very strong arm that is slightly inaccurate. However, he has completed 105 of 179 passes for 1390 yards with 13 TD's and 7 INT's.

Keegan Herring is one of the best running backs in the nation despite being undersized. He has terrific agility, speed, and moves. Heis averaging over 7 yards per carry but has been banged up quite a bit. He has 51 carries for 382 yards and 5 TD's.

Mike Jones is a talented WR who is big and strong. He leads the team with 38 catches for 476 yards and 6 TD's. The rest of the WR core is just ok.

The O-Line is a bit below average across the board.

SS Jeremy Payton is a standout on an otherwise below average defense.

We are hosting RE Justin Jones from Mountain View, CA. He is a 4 star DE who is rated 212th in the nation overall.

Their first drive is a nice combo of passing and running, mostly passing actually, for a TD. 12 yard TD pass to Williams to end the drive. 7-0.

2nd play of our drive, Sanchez throws a strike to Hazelton 14 yards down the field and he jukes the safety and goes the distance. 71 yard TD pass. 7-7

Kevin Ellison sacks the QB on 3rd down to end their drive, but he bruises his sternum and is out for the game. Now, our pass coverage could be hurting.

Our next drive is a 9 play 42 yard drive that ends in a 35 yard FG. 10-7.

End of 1: 10-7 we lead.

Crap! They ran a fake punt run play to convert a 4th and 8!

A few plays later they hit a 44 yard FG. 10-10.

After exchanging some failed drives...

McCray intercepts a pass in the flat intended for the HB and he takes off to the house! 54 yard TD return. 17-10, we lead.

We stop them on 4th and 3 to get the ball back.

We put together a balanced 68 yard drive that ends with a 15 yard TD pass to Dean. 24-10. We scored with only 9 seconds left.

Halftime: 24-10 lead for us.

Sanchez is 8 of 10 for 122 yards and 2 TD's.

Shaw is 16 of 24 for 190 yards with 1 TD 1 INT.

We get the ball to start the half.

Gable fumbles on the 38 and they recover.

Herring gets a slant from the option. He jukes one of my corners and then runs over my backup safety, puts his hand down, regains his balance and finishes going 24 yards for a TD. 24-17.

They force a 3 and out. We punt and Porter nails Herring.. he fumbles. We recover!

Darn. Another fake punt run and another coversion after they had stopped us.

They hit a 44 yard FG to make it 24-20.

A bad punt by our punter gives them good field position.

Perez intercepts it around our own 10 on a deep cross and he dodges one defender and takes it down the sideline for a TD. 31-20.

End of 3rd quarater: 31-20, we lead.

Will Harris intercepts it on the 10... he fumbles.. Cary Harris recovers it for us.

Their MLB intercepts it 2 plays later.

Next play is a 11 yard TD pass to their TE. 31-26. They go for the 2, but we sack the QB.

On a zone blitz, their DE intercepts a pass to the flat! He returns it 20 yards before I catch him.

They throw to their star HB in the slot again and he dodges two defenders and runs it 42 yards for a TD. We stop the 2 pt conversion. They are 32-31. I'm impressed they are using their undersized superstar HB in the slot and such.

With 3:20 left, we hit a 28 yard FG to make it 34-32.

They drive into FG range and hit a 29 yard FG with 1:20 left. 35-34.

We have no timeouts left..

We complete a 19 yard pass to Holland and then a 18 yard pass to Holland and then a 14 yard pass to Dean, and then a 12 yard pass to Gable, and then a 14 yard pass to Holland for a TD!!! All of our guys got out of bounds. We fail to convert the 2 point conversion. 40-35.

30 seconds left.

Porter sacks the QB again. He isn't good in coverage, but he is a great blitzer.

We stop them on 2nd, 3rd and 4th!

We run out the clock. 40-35 win. This team had below average 3rd and 4th WR's, but our 4th CB is really bad and he got victimized all day. Also, their HB killed us in the slot.

This game got a greatness score of 720 and is my 3rd overall.

Shaw ended up 35 of 49 for 420 yards with 4 TD's 3 INT's.

Sanchez ended up 19 of 31 for 290 yards with 3 TD's 2 INT's.

DeWitty had 14 carries for 42 yards.

Herring had 8 carries for 8 yards for them.

Gable had 18 carries for 69 yards.

Johnson had 4 carries for 1 yard for us.

Herring was their leading receiver with 9 catches for 126 yards and 2 TD's. Our #2 or #3 CB just couldn't cover the speedy back.

Hazelton led us with 5 catches for 112 yards and a TD.

Jolland was second on the team with 4 catches for 86 yards and a TD.

Dean, our speedster, was stopped deep all day, but he had 4 catches for 39 yards and a TD.

W. Evans led them with 9 tackles.

Vincent and Evans each had an interception for them.

Pears led them with 2 sacks. They had 4 on Sanchez all day.

McCurtis led us with 12 tackles.

Porter had 3 sacks for us.

McCray, Perez, and Harris had our picks.

HB Melvin Baker and DE Justin Jones both committed to us this week. We got all of the 5 top recruits that I went after for early committments.

Polls:

1. Texas beat Texas Tech 34-24 to remain in the top spot.

2. Miami beat Georgia Tech 27-10 to remain #2.

3. South Carolina surprised LSU to move up from #4.

4. Louisville beat Cincinatti 44-0 to move up a slot.

5. Oregon State beat Washington 21-14 to leapfrog us.

6. Iowa beat Illini 30-24 to remain undefeated and leapfrog us.

7. We drop a spot. All of the teams ahead of us are undefeated. We are top of the 1 loss teams.

8. West Virginia beat USF 45-10 to move up a slot.

9. Florida State they lost to #2 Miami 24-19, but they move up a slot.

10. Virginia Tech - They lost to the Terps 42-25 to drop from the #3 slot.

The Terps move up to #25 with the win.

Interesting, Notre Dame is 6-1, but unranked due to a very weak schedule. Well, they play us next.

QB Jordan Steffy had a very impressive performance in the win and he is now being talked about in the Heisman race. On the season he is 125 of 245 for 2030 yards and has 90 carries for 494 yards with 26 total TD's.

However Colt McCoy of Texas is still the favorite.

Kestahn Moore of Florida was the offensive player of the week with 29 carries for 202 yards and 3 TD's in a 42-9 win over Arkansas.

Deon Smith of Florida was the defensive player of the week with 10 tackles, 1 sack, 2 FF, and a FR in the win.
