Indy Invaders of the Dynasty Football League

I've been reading this forum since I've joined the DFL (and my brief stint in the USFL) and have been wanting to start a string on my team, the Indy Invaders of the Dynasty Football League. It seems somehow appropriate that I start writing when I face the Toledo Titans tomorrow night for the Napoleon Conference Championship. PLuxx can rightly claim the title to DFL's first true dynasty. His Titans have won two straight Dynasty Bowls and have dominated the Napoleon Conference. In the past four simulated seasons, the Titans have proved titanic by dominating the league with a combined regular season record of 51 wins and only 13 losses, four straight NC East Division titles, four straight playoff appearances, two Napoleon Conference titles, and two straight Dynasty Bowls. It hardly seems appropriate to start the first official Dynasty Football string here in FOF Central without mentioning the class of the DFL, the Toledo Titans.

Now that the schmoozing is over, I would guess that the best place to start is at the beginning.

Chapter One: A New Beginning

Personally I was searching for something to help idle away the time since retiring from teaching and the Army due to medical reasons. Multiple sclerosis has proved challenging in many physical and cognitive ways and there are new therapies and strategies developed every day, but still no cure. There had to be a cure for boredom, and one can only surf the net looking at car collector sights and the occasional accidental stray into the net porn world. Holding a job is impossible now, so I became the househusband of the home. I cook, clean, do laundry, and wash windows. I also fall down a lot, drop a heck of a lot of things, and talk with marbles in my mouth. So, to help combat boredom, I looked to join a multiplayer league. Honestly, I started by lookiing for Front Page Sports since I owned that game for years. I found all these leagues with the FOF tag attached to them and researched a bit. I liked what I saw.

The only league with any openings at the time was the Dynasty Football League. I found the Indy Smokers and knew I had to resurrect my home state's capital with the dignity and respect it deserved. I mean, a pot leaf on a helmet, even if it was used for medicinal purposes, and a mascot that was flipping off the viewer is irreverent. Don't get me wrong, I've always encouraged challenging authority and thinking outside the box, but I've got to draw the line somewhere. I've always been a big fan of the USFL, loved watching it when it was a viable alternative to the NFL, and even in Front Page Sports sims, I used the old Oakland Invaders name and logo for an Indy franchise. so, the Indy Smokers became the Indy Invaders.

Chapter Two: The Dynasty Football League

I put in my bid for the empty Indy Smokers and was immediately granted the team. It soon became readily apparent that I joined a league that was in danger of extinction. Aquatix the commisioner at that time resigned, a bunch of owners abandoned ship, and there was an in league forum discussion about dissolving the league. Not exactly a good omen for a new owner. KCaldwell, G.M. of the Havana Revolucion, took over the league and behind his leadership and the surviving founding fathers, other new owners were found and the league started growing. Iceman, Stinkypants, Cheesehead Craig, and several new promising owners have added to the growth of the league. I'm proud of our direction and the Dynasty Football League's ability to overcome a serious threat to their survival.

Tomorrow: Chapter Three: First Look at Indy.
