FOFC PLAYER UPDATE
Bo Knowles while talking with his brother raises his voice and says, "Man another inning pitched another win. This game is soooo demanding. Let's see that's 4 wins in 5 innings." Chuck Tanner who was close by taps Bo on the shoulder and says, "Why are you needling the starters about not getting wins. They are doing an excellent job." Bo responds,"I have to have my fun now, when coach starts extending the starters innings, my oportunities to record anything but a hold will decresase signficantly. Beside I hardly think they care that I (raising his voice again) lead the league in wins (lowers voice) this Spring." Last edited by Breeze : 10-11-2005 at 01:55 PM. |

Thanks for moving me down in the lineup coach. It took a bit of pressure of me and I think my 2 for 3 can be contributed to that.

I don't get it... 5-31 with no extra base hits? I think coach needs to put me in the 2-hole and let me use my speed a bit. No one has really stolen many bases this spring... I know I could get 40 if the reigns were loosed a bit...

Hmmmmmm, me thinks Kronside is going to need to step it up the rest of preseason if he even wants a shot at being the setup guy, never mind the closer. Man did that one outing just kick his ass.

FOFC TEAM UPDATE
As I sit in my office looking over the two most recent box scores, I hear Sal Maglie, needling Hazzle from the other office next door. "Hey Bob, what's happened. Bats seem pretty fridgid again." Hazzle grunts a reply. "Let's see," Maglie adds, obviously looking at the box score himself, "Ton is down below the Mendoza line, I thought he was supposed to be one of the outfield bats we could count on. Nights is at .226, Gunner is sub-Mendoza, Pflaggstettler is sitting on the line, Palmer is back in the Nights area, a poor old Gazelle can't buy a hit - he's at a whopping .059" Hazzle walks off mumbling, but I can hear much of what he's saying as he passes my door, "%?!*^ pitchers, I'm gonna kill that %#@$!}. Where's the nearest %$@)! bar." |

Rob Nielsen is THE MAN.
Unfortunately, the server, is the dead. It's gonna be into next week at the earliest. Total death. I've gotta figure out how to get the data off (it's an old SCSI drive, which of course I don't have ANYTHING scsi-compatible anymore) and rebuild it into a new box. |

FOFC TEAM UPDATE
Boy the waiting for the regular season is becoming tedious. I wish we could just start it up right now. However, I also realize we need the Spring to fine tune our lineup and determine who's going to be the starters. In fact, with only 5 games left, there are still a number of decisions to make. I doubt that much will occur to make determining who's going to be in the rotation and who the 8 regulars are going to be any easier. After the double header today, we have 3 games to play over the weekend, then the season starts on Monday (read look for the new thread Monday ). |

FOFC - TEAM UPDATE
After the first game Hazzle decides to give Maglie a little of his own medicine. "19 Freakin hits. 19! For crying out loud. We get 11, generate 9 runs and lose. What the hell you teaching those guys?" Hazzle digs. "Shut up," Maglie exclaims as he starts to walk off. Hazzle right on his tale, "Wait, no I'm serious." Then he turns to me, winks as says as he passes, "Amazing how he can dish it out, but he can't take it." Then, like he never said a word to me he picks up where he left off, "So tell me, how do you give up 19 hits. I mean, shouldn't some of those accidently find a glove somewhere." The National Herald
Sports …by “Specs Ward" An FOFC Outfielder in batting slump. Even though mired in a slump at the moment Stan Gunner continues to follow his Mother’s work ethic. If hard work, and then some more, can do the job, then Gunner will pay the price. He starts his offseason training schedule the day after the season. "I work out alone," he says. "If I'm running up a mountain, I pick a point to reach. Some days, I quit halfway. But the days you finish are the days you feel satisfied. I can't walk. I can't get up off the ground. It really feels like I'm going to die. All you can think is, tomorrow, stop just a little sooner. I don't ever want to feel this bad again in my life. But you get addicted. The next day, you try again." Gunner may have gotten his drive from his mother, who raised him after a divorce when Stan was 3. She worked multiple jobs to take care of him and his 3 brothers. “I didn't figure it out until 10 years ago," says Gunner, 32. "She was a worker. When she had difficult times, she didn't want it to affect anybody else. She got through it herself. She was an admirable woman to me. Sometimes she doesn't know how good a mother I think she was. . . . "When I was 7 and 8, I played ice hockey in Buffalo. We had practice at 1 a.m. She'd wake me up at midnight and say, "Stan, put on your pads." When I was older, she'd take me and my friends to school at 7 a.m. before she went to work, then take me to the batting cage after school. Now that I'm the age that she was then, I think, Wait a minute, Mom, what were you doing, getting up at midnight just because a little kid is crazy about hockey? When he and the rest of the outfielders start hitting manager Benton Breeze will finally have a smile on his face and can quit beating his dog and growling at his family. Coach - I think I'm limited to one hit a game. So if I get a hit early you probably should pull me out of the game.

I must apologize now for 2 games in a row with a GIDP. That's just awful. It makes no difference if I'm hitting .308 if I keep causing more outs.
