Analyzing/Analysing

All right, a question for your spellniks out there.

Correct well to spell: analyzing or analysing?

Definition: being in the process of performing an analysis.

Thanks!

I thought "analysing" was the British equivalent of American "analyzing".

I think you may be right. Wanted to be sure, though.

I figured that if the link spells it out, it takes away some of the mystique. In my mind, it would be like having a link that said "Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up" to attempt to Rickroll someone

Not something I've thought too long and hard about but I find that today my mind is just wandering in all sorts of places in short bursts but I can't concentrate at all

I personally use the "z" spelling...that letter is so underutilized that I try to take advantage of any chance I can get to put it out there.

The "s" and "z" pops up in a few places re: American/British English. I'm so used to seeing the z's that I accidentally use them all the time now too.

The "s" is used in English English and occurs in any number of words. In fact it's quite annoying when typing on PCs and boards such as this to have this spelling constantly flagged as a spelling error. My understanding is that when the American dictionary was produced they decided to remove some of the complications in English English spelling and a number of changes were made one of them being the replacement of the "s" with a "z" for the "zzz" sound. I think they also replaced double letters with a single letter and removed the u in words like "labour".
