Mule Creek Empty Cupboard FOF 2k7 (Season Seven)
House Rules:
1. Release all players at the beginning of the 2007 season. 2. May only sign veterans for chemistry/mentor reasons. 3. Full contract renegotiations are allowed. 4. No trades. 5. May only hire staff with no prior experience. 125 Injury Setting, 0 during Exhibition Games. My ruleset is not as restrictive as that of my Chargers FOF 2004 Empty Cupboard Dynasty. My primary goal is to gain familiarity with FOF 2007 that I can apply to my WAFL franchise. Last edited by JeffW : 12-07-2006 at 02:54 PM. |

I have the #1 overall pick. I hit the Jackpot this year: The top two prospects are bitchin' QBs:
Weber Edward I like Edward a lot better than Weber--Edward's only weakness is his awful intelligence. His strong personality means I can build a triple-affinity system around him. Last edited by JeffW : 12-06-2006 at 06:35 PM. |

I signed mentors/team leaders for all positions prior to starting the draft. I will have two conflicts this year, but since I expect we'll have less than 4 wins no matter what we do, I am not worried about them yet.
I take Edward with the first overall pick. When 2(1) rolled around, most of the players I was hoping would fall to me were gone. I decided to take a promising young RB with the pick despite my general reluctance to draft RBs with my early picks: Rasmussen Hopefully, Rasmussen will justify my faith in him. That is a phantom conflict--he doesn't have a conflict with the new pos. leader. Last edited by JeffW : 12-06-2006 at 03:35 PM. |

The choice at 3.1 is interesting. There is a 5.1 grade WR with 4.47 40, 23 Rep Bench, 7.16 Agility and a 5.0 grade with slightly worse measurables, but much better blue bars:
Boone I'm leaning towards Boone, but I'll take a minute to think about it. Last edited by JeffW : 12-06-2006 at 03:36 PM. |

I set injuries to 0 for exhibition season(I'm lazy). They will be set at 125 for the regular season. We go 1-3, scoring 51 and allowing 115 in exhibition season. I expect around 2 wins this season.
I hate the new html box scores and see no easy way to include them in this dynasty. Anyone have any ideas? If not, I'm just going to post the team summary at season end. |

It did not take long for us to lock down our first win. We defeated 0-2 Atlantic City 23-17 at home on the strength of a brillian performance by Edward:

2-14 as expected. The defense was unspeakably awful. The offense was pretty good, all things considered. About halfway through the season, Edward had a QB rating >100! He missed 2 games with a separated shoulder. Unsurprisingly, Edward does not win rookie of the year(the Season Awards algorithm doesn't value QBs highly enough). We're completely shut out of the post season awards. |

1.2 DE Kim Kelly
2.2 CB Jeremy Middleton 3.2 OLB Oliver Mazurek I'm really not enthused with Middleton. I think he's probably not as good as his blue bars. Kelly should be awesome and Mazurek should be a great value. I'm in a quandry at upcoming pick 4.2. CB Clyde Jagger has all-world combines but he might take several years to creep up to his full potential. |

I gamble on another paper tiger CB instead of Jagger.
4.2 CB Daryl Berry 5.2 DT Ralph Melnick 6.2 WR Leland Lunderville 7.2 OLB Greg Gordon The crafty AI took the Center I thought would fall to 5.2. He shows up as 25/67 and I have reason to believe he will sustain that. I should probably just take BPA regardless of their draft grade in 2k7...usually the players I want to fall do not fall. 6/7 picks on defense. We should be much improved on that side of the ball this season. |

Believe it or not, we made the playoffs in our second year. We entered a tailspin when CB Berry missed a couple weeks, but when he returned we won three in a row including a week 17 showdown against rival Phoenix to determine the division winner! We're 11 point underdogs at home vs. the Columbus Cats.

Columbus defeats Mule Creek 31-17.
We put up 493 yards of offense, but Edward threw 3 interceptions and they hammered us unmercifully with their star RB tandem. Still, considering we have a roster rating of 2/100 and they have a rating of 87/100, I think we did alright. Great second season--all expectations were exceeded. Hopefully with another year of development and some more additions to the defense we can develop a real contender. |

I have a lot of RFAs to resign. My top needs this off season Center, Defensive End and Safety. SLB, G, OT are all positions I'd like to upgrade and I can always use more CBs. I feel comfortable with my QBs, RBs, FB, WRs, LDE, DTs and WLB.
I draft 19th overall. My dream pick is S Rob Demay. He is a 6.4 adjusted grade, so he probably won't fall to me--tied for 14th highest rated player in the draft. Last edited by JeffW : 12-06-2006 at 08:47 PM. |

This season makes no god damn sense. My top 4 receivers dropped 51 passes, my runningbacks dropped to 3.18 yards/carry. The defense had a ludicrously awful Pass Defense Pct of 57.6... I don't think I've ever seen one that bad for a whole team before. We fumbled 25 times after just 9 last year. Last edited by JeffW : 12-06-2006 at 11:54 PM. |

Solecismique: CB Bryan Donhoff I draft 2nd overall. I will likely be stuck drafting DE Dale Bruce and moving him to DT despite having no need for a DL. #1 overall will be the best QB prospect I've seen in FOF 2k7. Bizarrely, Rob Demay, my coveted safety prospect went unsigned and is back in the draft. Once again, I will miss out. My top needs are Safety, Offensive Linemen, Strongside Linebacker, Middle Linebacker, Halfback. Last edited by JeffW : 12-07-2006 at 12:12 AM. |

10 game improvement on last year despite losing Edward for 6 games. The running game and run defense remained terrible, but the defense shut down the pass. Credit goes to Greer and Kelly who combined for 34 sacks and 63 hurries. Star Rookie Center A.J. McLane (56/76) was knocked out for 99 weeks in the final regular season game. Life's a bitch. We have the #1 seed in the AC. We are favoring -6 at home vs. 10-7 Columbia in the 2nd round. Last edited by JeffW : 12-07-2006 at 01:29 AM. |

Code:
QB Clay Edward wins a much belated MVP/OPOTY/1st Team Trifecta. Boomer DE Alex Greer with Defensive POTY with his phenomenal 22.5 sack season. WR Jeremy Klotz wins his first award--1st team all pro on the strength of 1820 yards and 10 tds on 130 targets. DE Kim Kelly wins second team all pro for the 3rd time in four years. He had 15 sacks, 25 hurries and 14 QB Knockdowns on the season. Kelly and Greer have combined for 110 sacks in 9 combined seasons. I don't know how to explain our 3rd straight playoff exit as the #1 seed. We outgained them 7.6 yards/play to 6.7 but we had 2 fumbles lost and an interception to their 0 turnovers.
