Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I've been very busy between family, friends, and work so I haven't been on here much except an occasional lurk. But, I think of my friends here and hope you are all doing well. Have a blessed day.

My wife makes an awesome crumb cake that we have every holiday morning. One of the few times she cooks. Usually we would have mimosas, but driving to my parents for the holiday. Currently watching the parade getting ready to make a ginger bread house with my kids. When we get home tonight we will usher in the holiday season by watching a Christmas Story. Going to be a great day. Hope everyone has a wonderful day with family.

Happy Thanksgiving.
My family is hanging low today. Food about to be prepared. Eat around 1 then set up the Christmas tree then watch movies. Just my wife and kids this year. No other family.

Happy Thanksgiving to FOFC.
Turkey Day has become a bigger holiday for my family in recent years than X-Mas. This year we are missing a couple of our "normals" but still have a crowd. I'm a loner by nature, so its a bit much for me at times. Glad though to see them all.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
My family today and my wife's family on Saturday. I'm making a different variation of green bean casserole for today's gathering. Basically it has cream of chicken soup, cream cheese and bacon... sounds delish so I hope it turns out ok. |

First time in a while my dad will not be eating with our extended family at thanksgiving (he and his new wife are down in Florida enjoying the sun), so my brother is stepping up to the plate this year to make the Delmonico potatoes (sliced potatos and cheese, baked in a cheese sauce)

I'm in Ohio with family while my wife is with my daughter at a dance competition. My daughter is hoping to qualify for the world championships of Irish Dance.
Pray for my bank account.

We had 31 people over for Thanksgiving dinner.
I prepared 31 to go plates after everyone had eaten. How do I still have Thanksgiving leftovers in this damn house?!

Green Bean casserole was a hit!
Here is the recipe (I made a double batch): READY IN: 1hr SERVES: 5-8 UNITS: US INGREDIENTS 3 (11 ounce) cans French style green beans (the ones sliced the long way) I could only find 14.5 ounce cans of green beans and used 5 cans for a double batch, so 2.5 cans would work for single batch 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temp 1 cup French-fried onions 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of chicken soup pepper 1 pinch garlic salt Splash of Worcestershire 1 package of center cut bacon DIRECTIONS Heat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9 or whatever sized dish you want to use. I don't suggest a 9X13 but anything smaller will do. If you double the recipe, 9x13 is perfect. Drain green beans VERY well, and mix with softened cream cheese, the soup, a pinch of garlic salt and pepper to your liking and a couple of splashes of Worcestershire. Add 1/2 cup of the french friend onions. Cook the bacon in the oven on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 400 degrees, flipping once it starts to crisp. Once done, cool and cut into small pieces. Add bacon to the mixture. Pour into greased pan and cover loosely with foil. Bake for about 25 minutes Then remove cover and stir. Add remaining french fried onions to the top and bake uncovered for another 20 to 30 minutes Until it's bubbly and looks done. Cool for at least 5 minutes and enjoy! . |

I cooked two. A 20 pounder smoked and a 20 pounder deep fried. A friend brought one oven baked. The turkeys were not the problem. We just had more people bringing side dishes than we expected. For example, one of my nephew's friends was supposed to bring mixers for drinks. She also brought three platters of lumpia which instantly made her my favorite guest of the night. There is a good chance I had 30 of them We also ended up with two five gallon pots of greens. The food will not go to waste though. The nephew is dropping by later to get the rest for himself, his roommates and whoever else shows up at their apartment this weekend.
