Man, you are tough. The one man (okay, him & Kirby) that brings GA back to prominence, get that Elephant (aka Money) off your back, win's 2 national championships etc. and you diss him like that. It wasn't that long ago that GA seem to choke in the big games all the time. He should be your football Jesus. Last edited by Edward64 : 01-19-2024 at 05:54 AM. |

So, those of you that are Michigan fans, how is the ticket resale situation? Seriously thinking about going to the Texas-Michigan game on Sept. 7th. The prices right now are crazy. Just curious if that is normal, or just an after effect of winning the natty and will come back down to earth.

With NCAA penalties, another LoA looming, and Harbaugh's situation in flux, I could see decreased enthusiasm in a few months. I've bought tickets @ UM for OSU games pretty cheap in the past. You could book hotels and flights now for better prices and then wait on the tickets. |

Ohio State just got a huge get. Caleb Downs as a true freshman was one of the best players on Alabama's defense last year.

Between returning players, the portal, and a couple of recruiting wins it looks like OSU has bumped up the NIL pool.

Sayin would be a good fit there. Ryan Day and the boosters going all in, as they should. This has to be a make or break season for him.

Would Howard be able to transfer gain? If they get Sayin he's got to be the starter next year.

Sayin just enrolled early @ Alabama so he'll still be a true Freshman next year. The most impacted player at OSU will likely be the other incoming Freshman QB. He's very highly regarded as well so I would guess they'll battle it out with Keinholz to be the 2025 starter. |

And that's not just any ol' incoming Freshman QB, that's Air Noland. In the right system & situation* I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be the best college QB in the class. *I say that because his production dropped around 50% under a new OC in his final year at Langston Hughes HS, just one year after the team set an all-time state record for points in a season. {edit to add} There's some thought that he might need a RS shirt before being ready for a regular college starting role, there were some weaknesses exposed in a disappointing senior season. I haven't seen anything said from his camp so far, he might very well take that RS year in Columbus before making any longer term decisions.

Of the four teams that made the CFP, only one has their head coach returning.

By Michigan state law, the HC job has to be listed for 7 days before they can make an official hire. I would love to see some of the resumes they get in that time.

Not really surprising, and not sure why it would be a problem. Sure, I may try to watch, say, Purdue, but that's because we have a tie to them. They're like...I dunno, the Jaguars or somebody. If you're local you might watch, but they usually suck, so why should the rest of the country?
I'm not going to go out of my way to watch Vandy, or Rutgers, or Duke, etc. I'm probably not going to watch Toledo, Buffalo, Louisiana Tech, etc. even if you pay me.

Missouri got 3 of the state's top 10 players. Auburn got 1 of the top 10. Those teams combined to beat Arkansas, in Fayetteville, by 72 points. Pittman says rumors about his status hurt recruiting. I'd say Pittman's continued presence did more damage to recruiting.

I'd give him this one more year to right the ship.
If he doesn't, I wouldn't mind you-know-who to be named HC. In a twisted way, I'm kinda rooting for us to do poorly in the first 3-4 games and see what happens. And yeah, recruiting and instate talent has a lot of do with recruiting & results, but I still say coaching is #1. Petrino was able to get us in the Top-10 a couple years. So Chip Kelly is stepping down as UCLA's head coach to be the OC at Ohio State

And I'm reading that PJ Fleck is considered a leading candidate for the UCLA job. I'm not sure any sentence has done more to drive home to me just how devalued the UCLA brand is than that one.

Bye Felicia. He had no interest in recruiting and his lack of any sort of donor engagement made it impossible for him to raise NIL funds. He was about to be fired and that was the end of his coaching career. This tries and salvages a bit longer.

The ACC admitted in a court filing that their GOR is negotiable, which opens the door to FSU leaving.
If this happens it would kick off another round of conference expansion. If we end up with 2.5 major conferences that's likely the beginning of the end of major college sports. There's no way the sport can succeed long term with a Big 10, SEC, a watered down Big 12, and no ACC or PAC12. |

College Football Playoff exploring expansion to 14 teams, multiple automatic qualifiers for conferences
They should just cancel the season and invite the same 32 teams every year to a playoff. |

From a pure visual perspective - there is no prettier game in college football than USC vs. UCLA. There is just something about the way the two uniforms look on screen together that I love.
Big Ten football's got it all!

A report in Tallahassee today said that Mike Norvell was very close to taking the Alabama job. Close enough that the school had already selected the target for his replacement: Lane Kiffin. That would have been interesting.

Are we headed down a path where the SEC and B1G have post season tournaments to declare their own champions and the NCAA Champion basically just stops mattering? That would be awful, but if these conferences just keep expanding I don’t how we get anywhere else.

I wonder if there is a step 2? Seems like ESPN has the most to lose here (along with the ACC schools that don't take football seriously), so not sure how that relationship isn't damaged.

The SEC realignment is coming up for 2024 (welcome Texas & Oklahoma!). There was a lot of talk about establishing "rivalry" teams/games but I've googled and don't see any recent talk about it.
Does anyone know anymore about when/if the rivalry teams/games will come out? or what's the latest? |

dola: And if you are an NFL team and you think that Shedur Sanders is a franchise QB, then I guess you draft him because those don't grow on trees.
But, man, having to deal with Daddy Deion in the media for the rest of Shedur's career? That would be a headache I'd do everything I could to avoid. |

Can I ask a potentially dumb question? Apart from the "fairness" argument, why aren't colleges allowed to come together and set these rules regarding eligibility, money, and transferring that they have been sued about recently? They agreed to these rules, and if you don't want to play by those rules, you aren't forced to. I just don't understand how its any different than the rule that says TDs are worth 6 points and the opportunity for extra point. What's stopping a player for suing and wanting 10 points for a TD?

That's the whole thing the lawsuit was about, the rules being one sided. It will probably end up looking a lot like how labor works in pro sports. There likely will eventually be a CBA where both sides agree on a set of rules about eligibility, NIL, transferring, etc.

The rules are one sided everywhere. No one is required to play college football. I just don't understand.
