Arizona got a really nice safety. I tried to play with the numbers to try to steal him with less money but was not successful.

FREAKIN' SIGN ALREADY WILL YOU?

Sheesh, some nice offers out and only one guy has signed so far. At least I haven't been rejected yet on my other key targets.

This rebuilding job in Dallas is gonna be a lot tougher than I expected. Every guy I wanted to sign had a better offer from Buffalo

san francisco throwing out 3 whopping contracts of $122m for 3 years.. that means that 3 players will be using all but $13m of his salary cap. actually those 3 will probably put him over the cap in 2 years depending on how he worked the deals

If he ends up over the cap then the other offers this year will get retracted and not go through after that.

Philly did something similar a few years back going after some really good guys but backloading the contract in a nasty way. In a year or two the team just imploded without any real way to get out of salary cap hell. It is actually pretty tragic in the transaction log watching a team implode from salary cap hell. I do give our Eagles coach massive respect though for sticking it out and rebuilding the team after that. In many multiplayer leagues a coach would become disinterested and abandon the team/league for some other owner to clean up.

Ditto, much respect for Suicane.

SFO's strategy was just to put 3 huge offers out this year, and whichever player took the deal he'd be happy with that, so now that his cap room is used up the last two offers won't go through. The contract isn't backloaded tho, meaning the players gets an even amount for all 3 years of the deal which means not only will he not be over the cap next year, but he'll be able to renegotiate the player to actually be cheaper next year.

I've been doing much the same thing, big offers on big players then renegotiating them into reasonable deals down the road. Big time rookies are worth a king's ransom in this league.

Upon further inspection, and after talking to TTWS on the phone, he did in fact backload his contract on the RB. Which is probably a bad idea.
