Bradley Wins Best Bat Trophy in April
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Nobody was better with the bat in April!
Mark Bradley caught everyone's attention with some hot hitting and today he came away with the Batter of the Month award.

Cleveland's first baseman put together a solid month with a .398 batting average, 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored.


Rocha Named RL Batter of the Month
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Fans, friends and family were cheering today when Esteban Rocha received April's Republic League Batter of the Month Award.

Rocha stung the ball all month, posting a .390 batting average with 1 home run, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

CL Top Pitcher Award for April to Hernández
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Rafael Hernández's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 6-0 in April, the 37-year-old Cleveland hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 19 in 44.2 innings, logged an ERA of 2.22 and allowed opponents to hit .248 against him.


Medina Top RL Starter in April
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Juan Medina was firing on all cylinders in the month of April with 5 wins as he steamrolled all Republic League opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award.

During the month Medina was 5-0 with a 2.21 ERA. He made 5 starts, tossed 36.2 innings and had 25 strikeouts.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Youngster Armando Hernández emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Cleveland deserved the honor, batting .348 with 7 home runs and 16 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Hernández enjoy the limelight.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Monday, May 1st, 2175: Juan Hernández was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 22-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 21 games Hernández batted .296 for Colorado, slapping 24 hits in 81 at-bats with 5 home runs, drove in 15 runs and scored 10 times.

Jesús Soto Named Best CL Batter in May
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Jesús Soto capped off a fine May by being named the Continental League Batter of the Month today.

Napa Valley's second baseman hit .337 while collecting 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and scoring 18 runs. He also drew 10 walks to post an OBP of .402.

For the season Soto has hit .304 with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs. He has played in 51 games and scored 35 times.


Hartford First Baseman RL's Best Batter in May
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 27-year-old Héctor Ramírez put together a solid offensive month for Hartford and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .295 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 runs scored.



This year Ramírez is hitting .307 with 9 home runs and 41 RBIs in 52 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .417 with 31 walks and 30 runs scored.

Mendoza Tabbed as May's Starter of the Month
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Germán Mendoza of Halifax had an outstanding May with a 3-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Continental League.

He topped off the month with a 1.73 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 36.1 innings, fanned 19 and held opposing teams to a .212 average.

Thus far this season, Mendoza has worked 48.1 innings with 30 strikeouts en route to a 3-4 record and a 4.28 ERA.


RL Pitcher of the Month Goes to Anguiana
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Whether Mauro Anguiana stays in Omaha beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In May the 33-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 5-1 record and and an ERA of 2.36. In 42 innings he struck out 28, surrendered 34 hits, 12 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 6 starts last month.

This year Anguiana has a 7-2 record with a 3.18 ERA.

Navarro Voted May's Top Rookie
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Jorge Navarro's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Halifax shortstop has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .342 with 7 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Navarro also scored 15 times and drove in 17 runs.

So far this year Navarro has hit .344 with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored.


Ann Arbor First Baseman May's Premier Rookie
Thursday, June 1st, 2175: Arthur Rogers earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Ann Arbor first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Rogers hit .356 with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Rogers's current batting average stands at .311 and he has chalked up 2 home runs and 16 RBIs.

Brooklyn's Ramírez CL #1 Batter in June
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Orlando Ramírez battered Continental League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Ramírez told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Ramírez hit .317 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 26 runs.

Looking at his stats this year, Ramírez has compiled a .320 batting average, while hitting 25 home runs and driving in 57 runs. He has played in 77 games and scored 70 runs.


Jarvis Takes RL's Best Bat Award
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Hot-hitting third baseman Bill Jarvis of the Hooligans really pounded Republic League pitchers in June, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .379 with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs, 19 runs scored and 8 walks to finish with a .425 on-base percentage.

This season Jarvis has banged out 107 hits in 311 at-bats for a .344 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .386 pace and his totals also include 66 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

Cyclones Hurler Named CL's Best Starter
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Luis Sánchez still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 31-year-old starter for Cleveland was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and no losses with 26 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 2.20 ERA in 32.2 innings of work.

To date this year in 16 starts, Sánchez has crafted a 11-3 mark with a 2.48 ERA.


Hammersmith Starter June's Best Pitcher
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Veteran Elton Broadhead put together quite a successful stretch in June for the Hammersmith Hooligans, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Broadhead racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 1.17 ERA over 46.1 innings and striking out 31.

This season-to-date Broadhead has 11 wins and no losses and a 1.70 ERA.

June's Premier Rookie Named by CL
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Juan Molina is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Cleveland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .333 average with 28 hits, 4 home runs and 17 RBIs.

This season Molina is batting .295 with 13 home runs. His totals include 53 RBIs and 42 runs scored.


James Grades Out as June's Top Rookie
Saturday, July 1st, 2175: Andrew James takes the hill with uncharacteristic poise for a man of so few years. James is just a lad, but he strung together some solid starts last month to win the Republic League Rookie of the Month crown.

In June he held opponents to a .266 average as he struck out 14 in 34 innings. In 5 starts he nailed down 4 wins, suffered no losses and compiled a 3.18 ERA.

This season James has compiled a 6-6 record with a 3.70 ERA.

July's #1 Batter Announced
Tuesday, August 1st, 2175: Today Halifax's William Guthrie was named the Continental League Batter of the Month for July. He punished CL hurlers hard all month long, collecting 30 hits in 89 at-bats.

With a .337 batting average, 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored, he was an easy choice.

This year Guthrie is hitting .293 with 25 home runs and 61 RBIs in 99 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .389 with 52 walks and 55 runs scored.


Gamboa RL Outstanding Batter of the Month
Tuesday, August 1st, 2175: Hammersmith's Pancho Gamboa had a productive July and topped it off by winning the Batter of the Month citation from the Republic League.

Napa Valley's Lewis Bags CL Batting Award
Friday, September 1st, 2175: August's Batter of the Month has been chosen by the Continental League. This month's trophy was awarded to the Napa Valley third baseman, Travis Lewis.

He starred by hitting .312 with a .375 on-base percentage, totaled 34 hits in 109 at-bats, 10 home runs, 24 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

This season Lewis is batting .275 with 139 hits, 26 home runs, 80 RBIs, .336 OBP and has scored 66 runs.


Gamboa Awarded August's RL Top Bat Prize
Friday, September 1st, 2175: It was a successful month for Pancho Gamboa of Hammersmith. He won the Republic League Best Batter Trophy for August.

Gamboa batted .387 average, hit 12 home runs, drove in 38 runs, scored 29 times and compiled a .425 on-base percentage.

This year Gamboa has collected a .354 batting average to date with 196 hits in 553 at-bats, 130 RBIs, 31 home runs and scored 101 times. He has played in 130 games.

Torres CL Winner, Top Hurler in August
Friday, September 1st, 2175: Jorge Torres will be bringing August's Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Baltimore. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Torres started 6 games, going 5-1 with 19 strikeouts in 42.2 innings as he compiled his 2.53 ERA.

In 25 starts this season Torres has rung up a 12-5 record and a 3.62 ERA.


Anguiana Gets August's Top Pitcher Trophy
Friday, September 1st, 2175: Mauro Anguiana nailed down August's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Omaha to get a deal done before the 33-year-old becomes a free agent.

Anguiana seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-1 record, reeled off 18 strikeouts, worked 40.1 innings and held batters to a .211 average for the month as he posted a 1.56 ERA.

To date this season Anguiana has compiled a 17-3 record with a 3.08 ERA in 25 starts.

Friday, September 1st, 2175: The Continental League Rookie of the Month Award for August goes to Juan Molina, the first baseman for Cleveland. He took the league by storm, hitting .301 and looks like he might just be a legitimate contender for the Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

Molina tagged 31 hits in 103 at-bats, including 9 home runs, produced 16 RBIs and scored 18 times.

So far this season Molina has 24 home runs and a .298 batting average.

Sunday, October 1st, 2175: The Continental League has selected its Hitter of the Month for September and the honor went to Mark Bradley, Cleveland's fine first baseman.

Bradley was selected after batting .356, hitting 12 home runs, scoring 20 runs and driving in 24.

Bradley has a .300 average and a .341 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 180 hits, 34 home runs and driven in 108 runs.

Sunday, October 1st, 2175: For the month of September, Dick Waters of the Montreal Royals has really worn out the sweet spot on his bat. He has assaulted, used and abused Republic League pitchers to the tune of a .310 batting average and was honored as the hottest hitter of the month today.

Waters went 27 for 87 last month with 17 walks. The left fielder tallied 9 home runs, 18 RBIs, 21 runs scored and compiled a .434 on-base percentage.

Sunday, October 1st, 2175: Alan Field is the latest Continental League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Noblesville starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished September with a sparkling 4-1 record.

Looks like they were 24-1, if you look, there was a W1 streak, which means they had the loss the game before...making it 24-1.

That's the most amazing start I can recall, too.

I remember Hammersmith went 25-5 or something like that in the first month of a season back when Alan was commish, and it was such a significant achievement to him that he actually mentioned it with his standings post.

This actually blows that out of the water.
