Man, I just bought BBCF and joined another league. If I jump into this and join your trucking company, I will never see my family again.

But I must, at least, test it out. Yeah, that's right. I could test it out so I could write something up for my freeware/shareware directory.

that's my boy!

You'll see that the time commitment is really not that high though. And you can set it to some sort of easier setting, in which you have like 30 days to make your routes, although you do get 20% less than the regular fee. But at least you'd have a driver for in a couple weeks when we really get an FOFC company off the ground and you get bored from BBCF.

I did Montreal-Halifax first, I got 74 miles left to do on my second route, Halifax-New York. I am exhausted, as you would expect me to be.

Another Edit: Updated again. You know, we have a werewolf forum at FOFC. Check it out.

So it looks like the big part of the strategy in the game is taking advantage of the top 5 cargos. Every week when they (apparently?) randomly re-assign supplies and demands, the 5 cargos that have the lowest ratio of supply to demand get a bonus for delivery. This week there's 1 cardboard supplier but 13 cardboard demands, so its #1 on the list. In addition to the normal milage bonus you get a $500 bonus for cardboard delivery.

I happen to be in Richmond, which has the #2 cargo this week, and apparently you still get the $$ bonus even if you don't take the cargo to a city that demands it.

Quote:
Driving this route of Mobile Homes from Richmond to Southport will earn your driver $1.94 per mile, a total of $585.58 for the entire route.

That's for a 300 mile trip. Delivering General Goods there seems to only net you $150ish or so.

Oh, and I joined the big canadian company too. It looks like the bonuses from taking cargo to one of their 8 terminals is significant enough to make it worth having them take something off the top. Perhaps our strategy needs to be to build up a large amount of cash and start a company when we can provide a few terminals right away, instead of starting one up as soon as someone gets $7,000 and 10K miles.

is there a way to pool money in this game?

I see we can take a $1,000 loan out...if enough of us did that we'd be able to start quicker.

I'm in a long haul from LV to Vancover.

agree with all said in here. A smallish company with no terminals, or well only one, is no good, and yeah, the big thing are the top 5 cargo...

That is a pretty good tip. I started in Mineappolis which supplied plastic and noticed the demand for plastic listed in red at Alberquerque. It is almost 1200 miles, but the payout will be close to $900. Seemed like a good first route.

In as HoosierDude. Took first trip to Nuclear town as tarcone, but at 9 fatigue points I am afraid to take another trip. How do you get them back without spending 100 bucks a day for 2 lvls of Fatigue returned?

You get 1 fatigue point back per hour you dont do anything RL time. So wait 9 hours and you'll lose 9 fatigue points

Works for me. The game needs short term jaunts with less fatigue hits for smaller paydays, to make the big ticket trips easier to get to and to try for.

First trip I’m hauling milk from New Orleans to Monterrey, Mexico. I ran out of hours before I made it; so I’m sitting on the side of the road somewhere in Mexico with $50 to my name. Trucking really is as glamorous as country music makes it seem.

I read on the forums that money from loans cannot be used to start a company. I'm still trying to find a way if we can pool our cash. That would be nice as in having multiple investors to start with.

we should set up a CB channel at some point too once we all get them in our cabs.

The big Canadian trucking co. has channel 10 right now.

I figured that was what the $100 was for for the 2 levels fatigue reduction.

Ok i stupidly signed up for my next haul. Ft Calhoun to Minneapolis with 40k of books. I had 8 fatigue points and 1/2 tank of gas.
I have to be in Minneapoilis by 3:15 sat morn.
So i took off after a couple hour wait. Im at 10 fatigue points now 152 miles outside of Minneapolis.
I am almost HOS-ed also.

I went down the road to refill, because gas was expensive in Ft. Calhoun. I found it for about 65 cents cheaper on the road. It costs 1 (one) fatigue point to stop and refill.

I just received a PM in the game from the developper of the game over there. He's visited this thread and thanked me for the write up.

Kevin/admin, if you read this, welcome to FOFC. Feel free to register and post. There are plenty of game developpers haning around the place.

As for my trucking career, I finally delivered that second load and will rest a little now, so that I can pick up a load for delivery and have enough time to make the delivery deadline. It's never a good idea to sign up for a new route when your fatigue points are way up to 10. I'm currently down to 8 and will rest another 4 hours before signing up for a new load.

This delay will give me a chance to find the best destination for that 3rd route of my career...
