I think one of the games that I ran went on for something like 13 game days (total of maybe 16 days or so?) before. I know there was another game that had like 28 people in it that lasted a while too.

Two pages of posts, and not one post worthy of WW.

Not to drop an obvious hint, but if *someone* were to get in a certain night action, we could honor nightfall requests and move this one along...

No shock here. It's unanimous. Writeup coming.

With barely anyone left in the office, there isn't much talk on a quiet work day. The Boss stays in his office and never leaves.

But it's clear there is an outcast. No one is talking to jeheinz, as they judge him guilty for the loss of The Jackal.

At the end of the day, jeheinz himself goes into the Boss's office. He is only there for a short time before he walks to his desk to gather his things.

The others gather around, with little sympathy. jeheinz doesn't need it, though. He isn't one bit remorseful.

"Don't you worry," he says deviously. "I will be back in a day, after my colleague takes over this office."

With an air of supreme confidence, he picks up his box and walks out.

jeheinz has been FIRED! He was a Wolf, a Cougar!

No firing has yet been unaccompanied by a second in this office. With concern, and for the first time all day, curiosity, all eyes turn again toward the Boss's door. Who is next to get the axe? What spiteful move did the Cougars make this time?

The Boss finally makes his call--and Schmidty answers. He isn't in there long. And reveals why when he comes out.

"I resigned," he said simply. "I didn't want my golf buddy to have to go through another firing. So I'm gone."

Schmidty wishes everyone luck and departs.

Schmidty has been NIGHT-FIRED by the Wolves! He was the Comic, the last golfing buddy!

One more day to go--or even just one more hour if everyone is around and ready to vote. No night actions needed.

Votes up until the past couple of days for those of us who are left (the last two days have been pretty much unanimous):

path -- Barkeep, fink, SnDvls, mauboy, bsak and ntn. 2 crew, 1 cougar.

Oliegirl -- bullet, render, farrah, mauboy, bsak and ntn. 2 crew, 0 cougars.

Schmidty -- olie, fink, bsak, mauboy, bsak, no vote. 2 crew (1 twice), 0 cougars.

claphamsa -- lathum, render, alan, mauboy, no vote, pass. 1 crew, 1 cougar.

Clapham's no vote was when the crew's bsak was voted out. Schmidty's was when the department ntndeacon was voted out.

I don't know what all this means, but thought I'd get it out there.

Man, I hate the pressure of the three person vote. So it comes down to who do I believe is bad between Oliegirl and claphamsa.

To my view, Olie has been more consistent with how I've seen her play as a villager. As I've mentioned earlier, clapham has had a different style this game, not as vocal or involved outwardly which struck me as strange. Then when I was putting together the above post about the voting, I noticed that he had the only vote on Alan the day that Farrah was being voted out. I thought that was a little strange. Then I noticed that he was one of the last votes on Passacaglia the cougar. His game seems more wolflike to me. Whoever the wolf is of those two, they've played a very good game. My best guess is:

VOTE CLAPHAMSA

You both are locked into your votes?

No one wants to hear claphamsa defend himself?

He suggested earlier that he might not be around right now.

Just want to give everyone a last chance before I call it. I'll wait if needed.

I know I'm a worker, so that gives me a 50/50 shot of being right...all I have to go on at this point is voting records and gut instinct. My gut isn't telling me anything so I'm just going off voting records...they each voted a wolf from each team off, Path 2/1, Clap 1/1...

I'm locked in, call it.

The Boss calls everyone remaining into the office.

"You have all worked so hard for this company, and I wanted you all to know how much I appreciate it," the Boss said. "I am afraid, however, that I must allow one more person to go."

claphamsa, oliegirl and path12 all tense in expectation. It's the moment of truth!

"This was perhaps the most difficult decision I have had to make," the Boss continued.

"oliegirl, you have been forthright and earnest in defending your side. claphamsa, you have been ever present and questioning. And path12, your logical approach can't be emphasized more," the Boss, said turning to each.

"The fact is, I can't afford to lose experience like path12 has," he said. "And oliegirl, being a Temp worker, costs less to keep on the payroll. So, claphamsa, I am sorry, but you are being let go."

claphamsa slumps, crestfallen. There is nothing left to be done.

The three remaining employees shuffle out of the Boss's office. They are surprised to see jeheinz72 back in the office and unpacking his things.

"What are you doing?!?" oliegirl says furiously. "You were fired!"

"Not for long," jeheinz says smugly. He turns to path12. "I already called Passacaglia and SnDvls. They are on their way over."

path12, the last Cougar, turns to the stunned claphamsa, a regular Department worker, and oliegirl, the last Temp.

"Clear out your things, folks", he says. "You're both outta here."

"NEVER MESS WITH THE COUGARS!"

THE COUGARS HAVE WON A COMPLETE VICTORY!

No other team achieved any of their goals.

Go Cougars!

Quote:
First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Yeah, that was some backfire. I think he felt he needed to make a stand so that he didn't seem to be a wolf in hiding, but chose his target poorly.

Actually, the Crew had a lot of bad luck. Besides bsak's aggressive pursuit of the "best" golfing buddy, Farrah was named by cronin--and cronin never even scanned Farrah (would have had he lived; far as I know, he voted Farrah on gut, and everyone assumed he had scanned her), and fink was away with job duties when he was in a tightly contested vote here (which literally turned on the final votes that day).

Thanks again, everyone. It was as fun to run as it was to play. If anyone has time, re-read the game knowing who the wolves are. I think it will be like a completely new read (for those of you who were not wolves).

I will be around to answer questions tonight and tomorrow night, of course, so anyone checking in late who has any questions, feel free to ask away.

You only block one kill, Lathum. There were two wolf teams, each with their own kill orders. You blocked the one on yourself, which meant the other team's kill order went through without being challenged.

Each night, both of the wolf teams submitted a kill order. The team that had the highest rated killer going got the preference on the kill. That night, I am assuming we had the higher rater killer, but you blocked it thus defaulting the kill over to the other wolf team instead.

The night you died, I actually tried my best to get ntn killed off instead of you (since I assumed rightly that they would be trying to kill you that night), as the next day I was going to out myself and give a reason why I needed to be protected that night by you in order to prevent the other wolf team from getting too far ahead. (Meanwhile I would continue to try to find the fish if I could). It was obvious with the way the other team played the day Fink got voted out, that they wern't up for any truce or working together, even when I tried to help give some of them plausible places to hide with my conversation (I actually tossed out the suggestion that Path seemed to be ok based on his behavior and pushed that for a while). Since it didn't appear returned in kind, I decided to try to protect Lathum (the bodyguard), but I failed at that too, so kind of ran out of options.

The last day I was alive I tossed back and forth in my head all day if I wanted to blow up the other wolf team or make things harder for them, or not. I decided to just let things go knowing I was a goner and just see if the villagers could overcome it. I didn't know the role change regarding the fish at the time, so I assumed with my death, it would be a cakewalk for the wolves from that point on (As I warned the entire game but no one listened)

I was curious about the mechanic behind the attempt to kill Lathum, too. Plus how Farrah was able to kill on Night 3 when she died on Day 3!

We asked about it the day before with fink (we used him to kill Cronin the day fink was voted out). Chief said that the "night kills" were actually day kills as it was a 24 hour clock. So it all happened somewhat simultaneous. So we used the same thing the next time with Farrah too

And actually, there were times when I personally felt that a truce was in order -- generally it coincided with heat building up on me, so I'm not sure if my teammates felt the same way. Actually, they probably didn't -- if it were up to me, we probably would have had a much less aggressive strategy, but kudos goes to those guys for wanting us to go all out!

Ie: when a wolf is finally found and fired, if we were to look back at who they voted for are they more likely to have voted for the other team's wolves, giving us a path on whom to go after next, or would they have been more likely to have gone after a villager and leave us in the dark?

I just figure on day 1 wolves are more interested in blending in and staying away from having all of the spotlight on them, yet they still will be wanting to try to lay a path for later use in their voting. I don't know if the Bulletsponge vote is as much of the second as it is the first.. it was the easiest place to throw a vote that seemingly appears for an arguable reason that has deniability...

They vote for BS now, he ends up getting fired and is an ordinary villager, they then say, "well he joked he was a wolf, how was I to know?"

It is definitly not a theory I would push hard on day 3, 4, 5 and on.. and it wasn't something I was really going to push today. Was just making my vote and leaving it be unless something came up causing me to want to either change my vote or push harder. So thats my thought process really, nothing great just I think random votes are dumb and I hate 20 people voting for 20 others leaving for a huge scramble at the end of the day that half the time is just other villagers that we focus too much on for days for no good reason.

Alan, did you say path on purpose here? I kept waiting for path to die, thinking that I could call you out as being a wolf because of it. But the longer path kept living, the more it would look like only a wolf would have thought to go way back and look for a hint like this.

This was a great game, I had a feeling path might be the last cougar but I didn't want to say anything because he hadn't voted yet and I was hoping he might vote for heinz.

This was a very fun game, I look forwards to more.

Nah, I didn't say path on purpose there. I actually spent day 1 pretty mild trying to give the idea we wouldn't go crazy after you all if you did the same back. Was just saying path in the form of trail, not the player

I definitely pushed the idea of getting the crew out of the way. I've got a lot of respect for Alan's ability to sway opinion and felt that we had to hit them hard if we were going to have a good chance, since the longer the game lasted with both wolf teams the easier I thought it was going to become to figure out who was who. In hindsight I think that wasn't that easy to do after all (though as Arles said, he had me early. Surprised the hell out of me.)

I think I told my teammates early in the game that I felt like it was going to be really easy for me to say too much in thread. It's a great twist to know who the other wolf team is but not be able to reference them. Pass did pick up on Alan's truce suggestions, but if I remember correctly the rest of us wanted to attack.

Heinz got a raw deal with the fish. We had no idea there was any change at all in that role after one team was gone. He just happened to be the guy fishing that night. It was a shame because he did a great job of being visible and yet out of everyone's radar. And Jackal, if I hadn't known better I'd have probably believed you in the counter reveal.

Yeah, I knew that a strong wolf team coming out of the elimination of the other team would likely be too strong for the Department to defeat, so I put this mechanic in as a "just in case". It was only to be triggered if the surviving wolf team had three or more members. Two or less, and the Fish would have still continued to be convertible. Also, this only triggered after a wolf team was eliminated. So congrats on "beating the odds" and enabling this mechanism.

Frankly, I was a little surprised no one hit on Jackal earlier. Each team had six chances before the Crew was eliminated. I realize the two sides didn't know who the other side was fishing, but you go in knowing 8 of the 21 aren't the Fish (because they're wolves). I would have thought with each side having a 6 tries in 13 non-wolves chance, not even counting potential candidates getting voted off and The Jackal himself trying to drop a hint or two, that someone would have hit on the Fish before a wolf team was eliminated.
