ECW February Review

We lost 28K in January. It is a little nerve wracking going into March which will see us on TV and PPV so this could turn into a disaster but there is no turning back at this point. I'll update popularity after this month as there wasn't much of a change, at least worth noting.

ECW on E! opens with Shane Douglas coming to the ring. He says as the Champion it is his right to be at the forefront of the newest ECW show-- He is then interrupted by Brian Adams. Adams comes out and says as "The Extreme Savior" he picks who does what in ECW, and he says it'll be him who the crowd sees first, making sure Douglas gets edited out! This brings out Tommy Dreamer and Taz, who say they're the forefathers of ECW and what they say goes. Then all hell breaks out with a wild brawl that sees Steve Williams sneak into the ring and obliterate Taz with a vicious chair shot as he was laying into Brian Adams (C+)

Rob Van Dam defeated Little Guido in 13:07 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. - A great debut show that saw the big matches deliver, and not only that, but also set up some PPV bouts.

- Brian Adams has caused a huge stir since coming to ECW and has plenty of people gunning for him, yet he seems to know something no one else does, or he is just stupid because he doesn't seem worried. One person gunning for him is Taz, and so next week it'll be Taz vs Adams!

- Because of their wins over the tag champs in solo competition, Paul Heyman has decided to let Candido and Storm, who've feuded as of late, face the tag champs next week!

- ECW on E! does a .11. I had no idea what to expect but that wasn't it. Still, as the show continues on the popularity will obviously increase so this isn't something I am worried about yet. Peaking at the popularity after the first show though we made some nice gains in just one show so that's good to know.

- AJPW is having trouble resigning guys. The writing might be on the wall there.

- Raw has a B+ show with DX beating LOD (A) while Nitro was a C show that saw Booker T beat Eddy Guerrero (C+)

Sabu defeated New Jack in 12:46 by pinfall with a Triple Jump Moonsault through a table (C) After the match RVD comes out and says that Sabu suffered a significant injury and won't be able to wrestle at Living Dangerously. Sabu apparently gets the gist of what RVD said and shoves him, and the two men again have a shoving match that Alfonso must break up (D+)

In the parking lot Taz is seen getting his gear out of his car when a car screeches behind him and out jumps Steve Williams, who drills Taz with a shoulderblock into his car. He then sticks his arm into the open door and slams it on Taz who cries out in obvious agony (C+)

- A good show that once again revolved around Adams. The hype for Shane Douglas vs Tommy Dreamer is good and keeps on getting better, but right now Adams is the bread and butter.

- New Jack continues to be a problem so he is going to pay by facing Brian Adams in some form of gimmick match at Living Dangerously. I'll start a quick angle for it on the next show but Jack has to pay for all the problems he has caused me.

- ECW on E! does another .11, but another check of our popularity shows that things are on the up and up.

- Nitro and Raw battle again, with Nitro again prevailing in the ratings, and this time, in the quality of show. Nitro had a B+ show headlined by Bret Hart beating Buff Bagwell (A) while Raw was a B show headlined by Steve Austin beating Ken Shamrock (B+)

He saus ECW is on E now and he won't ever be on True Hollywood Story cause his life won't have a tragic ending, but Brian Adams sure will. - I didn't want to rush a Barbed Wire match but I figure it'll get a nice rating with two solid brawlers. Mainly I'm doing it to squash New Jack in style though. It'll do a lot to put Adams over though as well.

- The show itself was meh but it increased our popularity so I can't argue that.

- The PPV is on Sunday, Week 3 because it's the one day that we have everyone available and we will need them.

- ECW on E! does a .10. Down without Adams on it.

I was bummed about doing this but Sandman got stale really fast so this was a good way to put heat on Dreamer's next feud, and end his chase for now. Had Sandman not needed a heel turn then I was contemplating something else that I'll use sooner rather then later.

- The big news out of the PPV was The Sandman turning heel on Tommy Dreamer. They have great chemistry and should have some exciting brawls. For Sandman it had to be done, he was just too stale as a face and needed a change. For Dreamer, he is out of the title picture allowing some of the bigger names to feud over the strap, though he is not totally phased out by any means.

- Living Dangerously did a 0.29 buy which is astounding considering they never got near that number in my WCW dynasty. The show delivered in every way imaginable and I am for sure proud of it.

- Raw and Nitro both had meh shows. Raw was a B- headlined by a 6 man tag that saw Shamrock & LOD beat Jarrett and the Outlaws (B-) while Nitro once again Vicious and Delicious beat Harlem Heat (C+) leading to a C+ show. Yeesh.

- A huge Main Event is signed for ECW on E! as Shane Douglas will go one on one with Brian Adams. The ECW Title won't be on the line but it is confirmed if Adams wins he will be the number one contender.

- Another good show. We're in a decent groove now and it's showing. That Adams/Douglas match alone resulted in us nearly selling out a small arena for our TV taping, doubling our usual paying customers.

- Dreamer isn't happy and Sandman is in hiding, but expect Dreamer to find Sandman before the next taping.

- RVD is going to be a face soon, it's hard to ignore that fact, but he'll do it by winning the fans over by fighting all comers. Expect a good opponent for the show.

- The Hostile City Showdown Main Event is all but assured to be a Triple Threat with Douglas/Adams/Taz. Expect another element to be added to this feud soon.

- New Jack is a politicking whore now. Just another great personality trait for him to have. He is going to still be a part of ECW because he produces good matches but don't expect a push.

- ECW on E! does a 0.14, up from a 0.10 the week before. Brian Adams is a draw. Did I really say that?

- WWF holds WrestleMania 15 which did an 18.09 buy, and an amazing A rating. The show was headlined by a potential MOTY candidate as HBK d. Mankind (A*) to retain his title. Meanwhile WCW held Uncensored which did a 20.02 buy, but it was not as good of a show, doing a B rating. It saw Hogan retain vs Scott Steiner (B+) in the Main Event.

ECW March Review

We learn that PPV still cost more then we'll make but it's a manageable cost because PPV's are a nice boost for popularity. We drop down 45K this month, so PPV every month is probably not an option but we'll do it two or three months in a row, and take a month off. Our Main Event for Hostile City Showdown is already a C in heat so I can't waste that on a regular show.

- Another good show that was headlined by a good Main Event. We're kind of stuck with a lot of C to C - matches, though we have an occasional B- fight every so often. That will be fine for now but I'd love to get a plain ol' B.

- ECW on E! does a .13 rating. I assume we'll stay around there for the next little while, but considering Adams wasn't booked ahead of time it's not surprising.

- Little Guido signs a PPA deal with WWF. He'll make them his top priority but stay on our roster.

- Nitro is held, garnering a B- rating, headlined by Hogan retaining over Sting (B) while Raw also was a B- show, headlined by Owen Hart over Hawk (B)

- The Main Event was pretty disappointing but we still improve our popularity. The post match angle was good and it is setting us up nicely for the PPV.

- Bigelow turning on Douglas was a way to make Douglas the outcast heel who has to be even more cunning to keep his title. Expect to see some uneasy alliances in his future.

- The opener was great as Adams and New Jack have good chemistry somehow. Adams continues to deliver.

- Even though Phil LaFon is the #1 contender for the TV Title, Brian Adams has demanded a match with Rob Van Dam to prove his superiority over other ECW champions. The match has been agreed to, though it will be a non title match.

- ECW on E! does a .12 rating.
