Towel Boy Basketball, Version 3.0

Yessir, it's back. My very own online college basketball sim, now with actual code that allows it to properly function past the first season.

Written almost entirely from the ground up, it's got a new, much more streamlined interface, far faster processing time, and, well, it works a helluva lot better than the old stuff ever did (hell, it actually functions).

Key new points...

Completely re-written game engine.
New lineup/substitution routine, allowing for a more flowing sub scheme.
Archived stats. You will now be able to see historical stats for your players throughout their entire college careers.
Both conferences and national leaderboards.
Far more streamlined recruiting interface.

Long story short, it's spiffy.

Signups are now open at Towel Boy Basketball, and login via http://tbb.hark.org (keep in mind I have to approve teams now - though it won't take long)

Nothing will go on this week, the kickoff to season 1 will officially begin with the first batch of games Monday, 10/26.

By the way, if you've signed up and haven't gotten an approval email within a bit of time, lemme know/just try to login. Might be eaten by spam filters or whatnot, but I'm approving about as fast as they are coming in (at least right now).

You can change my Aggies over to University of Houston Cougars I guess.

Knew I should have done the sign up form before going to take a dump.

Fox Valley Tech Chickens(Aurora, IL)...owning the Midwest region since 2009! Approve me now!

EDIT: When I go to the site, it asks me to register again, does this mean I've been denied?

EDIT2: Nevermind, the activation e-mail was sent to my junk-mail. Thanks man, bring it on! If you want to come to the Chicago area for a pre-season tune-up, let me know! Just stay away from my public league recruits...

EDIT3: I take it the basketball "skills" attributes are hidden(like shooting/passing/etc)? Kind of like that, if that is the case...Watch out for my Senior PF Marvin Finney from Oakland Nebraska.

EDIT4: Dibbs on Towel Boy Blue/Orange/White in the midwest...don't try to copy these sweet threads.

Maybe I'll put a little memorial service in the game writeups for the first game this year, adding a tribute to the Fallen Colossal.

But yeah, I just think it's easier and more aesthetically pleasing with a graphical rating system.

Here's an idea for a memorial service:

Put one in for every other team that is about to get Cockblocked.

Is there a Top 50 list of recruits? Or is pretty much like digging for gold?

I could put something like that in, I suppose. Wouldn't be hard to do.

You can filter via the search on the Big Board and get the top guys rather quickly as it stands, though.

edit: And everyone to date is approved, so if you haven't gotten an email, just log in (http://tbb.hark.org).

dolaedit: Top 50 page now available under recruiting.

If you're taking requests ... could you put a duplicate set of "previous 20", "next 20", etc links at the bottom of each returned search request in recruiting?

i.e. Currently I scroll through the first 20 results of a recruit search, get to the bottom of the page but then have to manually scroll back to the top in order to advance to the next page of 21-40. Would love a set of navigation links at the bottom of the page too.

Also, when contacting someone off the "Top 50" page, it seems to return you to the search page. Every time I contacted one of them, I was looking at a ton of Centers, rather than where I was before.

I think I was one of the heavier "contributors" in feedback last time around and really was enjoying the game. Glad to see that it's back!

Not for another full week. NExt monday (10/26). Since the schedule moves MUCH faster now (3 games a week, 2 training sessions, 2 recruiting sessions), I wanted to give a big window on first signups.

Wow, I remember this when it first came out CW. was a pretty good fun time, and If I remember correctly I had a pretty damn good team. I have no idea what happened after that, I think the thread died at one point.

It blew up in the past due to several reasons. I didn't really know enough on how to properly model large amounts of data, and I was lazy in testing several key features, which led to it pretty much blowing up.

I got bettah.

If a guy's rating are maxed out, setting his training for that attribute would be pointless correct?

Largely, yes. Though he could occaisonally benefit from training still, as maxed out might not be COMPLETELY maxed out. (It's very close, but he could be missing a couple of points)
