Vegas-Vic's Picks

Here's Vegas-Vic Pacheco, return man and known problem gambler of the Pittsburgh Steelers with his picks for the season:

Sure-Fire Money Pick of the Year= The Steelers will win no more than 9 games and miss the playoffs. Again. Still too young and had to release my best WR 'cause he was still holding out.

Bum of the year= Dwayne Givens! After the release of Brad Kelly, Givens is the only WR on my team with decent RR and should haul in a lot of passes and be the best-performing overpaid player in the league.

Most Likely to Succeed= The Falcons will win at least 14 games this year and would be the least surprising team to win it all.

Master of the AFC North: Cincinnati. They have all the pieces on offense and they're young enough to compete for the div title for years.

Anyone got some other candidates for these picks? Or other picks to make? How many games do you expect to win, and who's going to take down your division?

After missing out on FA1, I was pretty down on my chances for this year, but I was able to pick up some pieces in FA2 to fill the holes I had (as well as re-sign a few key parts of my team that had escaped to free agency). After a strong preseason performance from some rookies, I'm actually pretty excited about this season.

That means I'm likely going to end up 8-8 and out of the playoffs or something silly.

For everyone not in FOOL, this is humble Alan. I say this not because I don't believe humble Alan truly thinks this, but because its sooooo funny. Every season he coached in FOOL, he'd think he messed his team up some way or another (ok maybe not every season) and thought he had no chance of beating anyone. Then he'd mop the floor with everyone and make the championship game.

DO NOT BE LULLED INTO BELIEVING THIS!!!!

Alan, I love ya, but you gotta have more faith man!

Well here's the prime reason why Vegas-Vic is a "problem" gambler. It wouldn't be problematic if he could call em right...

Money Pick: Wrong, The Steel goes 11~5 and makes the playoffs for only the second time in my reign!

Bum of The Year: Wrong, as a last minute decision I decided to use Givens in the slot and give the start to vet Dipietro. Givens did get more than his share from that spot, but hardly earned his $10mil.

Most Likely to Succeed: Wrong, Atlanta only wins 11 games, the Giants dominate the regular season with a perfect record! Congrats Alan, sorry I doubted you

AFC North: Wrong, Baltimore comes out on top while tying for a league Second-best 13 wins.

Heh.. Maybe this was the jinx that caused us to fumble away a few.

Next season, pick Baltimore, it'll help us both.
