Quick Windows XP question

Just got a new system with XP, which I haven't used much before.

Question: how do I get the Windows Explorer folders to display an address bar at the top by default? I have the address bad in IE, but if I got My Computer for example it's not there. I'm more a keyboard guy than a mouse guy, so I like to be able to type direct paths to what I want to find.

I've tried checking View/Toolbars/Adress Bar, but that just adds a box that says "Address" in the top corner, but no address bar.

I can workaround by using IE to browse my system, but that seems like a pain for something that in theory would be simple.

I'm assuming that I'm overlooking something simple. Any XP users out there who can enlighten me?

Try right clicking up by the buttons and menu bar and click address bar.

I've tried that, and the "address bar" link is checked. However, there's no address bar displayed. There is an area that says "Address", but it's just a blank square at the far right that doesn't contain anything else.

Also make sure your toolbars are not locked otherwise you won't be able to resize the address toolbar to display the information.

Hm, that sounds like it could be the issue. How do I unlock them?

Right click on the toolbar. There should be an option there Lock The Toolbars. Make sure it's unchecked.
